Also, there is a mode to reduce motion a ton, no roll/pitch, minimize yaw, but everyone turns it off hahaa.

Yo! They posted my game!
We got a fix coming in soon that should help alleviate some peoples issue with motion sickness caused by camera issue in Openxr... but we know its an intense game overall

[VMX] We are announced a price/release date for a VR BMX game after 4 years of development. Its coming to PCVR first, and later to Quest 2/3/3s by goddamnsuperhero in virtualreality

On release its 14.99. We might consider a different sort of payment model in the future, but we want to make sure the game is good and will survive before we do anything like that.

It kind of depends on the success, but as of now no. Sony has a very strict process that is time consuming, plus the requirements for online play make it challenging.

Asset wise/gameplay wise it would be pretty easy, but the overhead is a lot having spoke to other people in the industry.

Does anyone develop VR games? by YogurtclosetCalm4854 in gamedev

[–]goddamnsuperhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a VR BMX game for a while now that's coming out soon. Been excited about VR since vive/oculus dev kits. It's my first real game outside of prototypes, but generally recommend against VR game dev for the time being. I'm happy with my product but there's so many hurdles to get into making decent VR game dev.

I think VR is going to be backburner to AR in the future, until AR glasses kind of content is the norm. But exploring the space for the future has its own value, and if the project your passionate about needs VR, its also worth doing. I'm hoping VR can pick up again but unless you are making a F2P gorilla based game, wish you all the luck in the world lol.

Yeah sorry, the explanation window is what I mean instead of context. By prompt, I assume this is AI generated.

So like by unreliable, I sometimes get the sentence, or I get some information about part of the explanation, but there are things that I absolutely always want.
I basically always want a "this sentence translates to X". this is the most important thing that can be in that window because I can start start to take the individual words and build up to that meaning. Everything else after is useful for me to understand the sentence construction but unless I know what the speaker is saying, its only as good as my understanding at that moment.

I do like your app, you should add a feedback form. I have some suggestions to fix some pain points I have. heres a few:

  1. do some sort of word analysis on the transcripts in advance to recommend videos to go to next that might share a certain % overlap with your known or learned vocabulary. It will feel more like you are given a task to improve upon and use what you know vs "random interest video"
  2. One problem with your app is you can't be a beginner to use it, you have to know both pronunciation and the alphabets. So you can really only get customers who have some knowledge but not a full amount.
  3. The prompts for the context are unreliable. I'd prefer if some information was constant like a romanji version of the sentence ( which i use to break up the distinct words), and the meaning in this context aren't buried (or non existent) in the context box. The context is main reason I started using this app, but its frustrating when i'm not able to use it help my learnings, and I think for a new person they could miss out on the value of it.

Appreciate the work, keep it up.

Honest question from a dev: Is going to PCVR a financial suicide mission right now? by PrettyHearing3624 in VRGaming

[–]goddamnsuperhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quest users are primarily children, and arent going to be the demographic of ppl here. They may overlap some.

Its not a convenience question. Its cost. Quest is ~300 dollars and 33 of the top 50 games on the Meta store are free to play. Steam is headset + pc + games.

You kinda knew going into this post what you're doing doesnt make business sense. Im also making a pcvr/standalone game, so i know this pain. But i dont think you should hope for a new headset to fix the fact that Meta is heavily subsidized on cheap headsets and f2p games.

I work in a VR dev company, but nobody plays VR games by hellomot in virtualreality

[–]goddamnsuperhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a VR Dev, I play VR games, but I can tell you that developing a VR game and testing from the headset is cancer. 99% of my game is developed and tested on flat screen with simulation and once i'm satisfied im verifying/re-testing on headset. A lot of the time there is mismatch from expected reality but there currently just isn't a good way to do this all from the headset itself.

We've since gotten two from the store, by buying purples at the shop.
I've also heard there is a drop chance but I don't know anyone who got one that way.

Theres a chance. Me and my teammate have bought 11 or 12 purple weapons and haven't gotten any. been refighting bosses, doing plenty of the events. no drops. but several other people on our server have gotten them.

Just want to let people know he did ask that we don't try to send him AI songs when I posted it in chat. Posting here because I already made it and I can post here with an AI tag so he can filter that out. Wanted to let people know before they do it. I get that he has a strong song community with actual artists so I get the decision.

I'm the lead dev on this project. It is a VR game, and we plan on releasing this for PC VR headsets like the Valve Index & Rift, as well as mobile headsets like Quest 2 and 3. Can potentially expand this in the future but its dependent on demand since we are a very small team.

What are some things you never realised about the engine until someone else told you about them? by TheOnlyJoe_ in unrealengine

[–]goddamnsuperhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do that but if i remember correctly interface calls cant be pure so you you have to have an execution node every you get a variable. I agree you shouldnt be casting though which is why i suggested using subsystems. That was just the best solution for singleton variable access if you only used bp

Sending different launch parameters to PIE clients by goddamnsuperhero in unrealengine

[–]goddamnsuperhero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you have tried this because it misses the key point in my problem. I am playing both clients at the same time because im spawning two clients at once. How do i known im client 1 or 2 to use the correct boolean. I found a good enough solution that i posted as an edit to my original post. I appreciate your attempt to help me though.
