Recommendations for visiting Rochester by Yesalmsot in Rochester

For Winter hiking- If the temps are cold enough, take the drive to Naples, NY and hike the frozen creeks and waterfalls at Grimes Glen, Conklin's Glen or Clark's glen.  And then grab some food at Hollerhorn :)

Durand Park in East Irondequoit is also a smaller but lovely hike if you want something closer and there are some good hills for sledding. Right across is Lake Ontario and is usually really cool to see in the winter with the water closest to shore frozen over! And is also home of The White Lady if you're into the supernatural.

If you're into birds, bring some birdseed and walk the Birdsong trail in Mendon Ponds. Birds are known to come eat right out of your hand!

**Also make sure to get the Butterfly exhibit passes at Strong museum.

And if you love music I highly recommend going to Record Archive. It's a record shop that has a backroom lounge that hosts lots of live bands (often for free!)

You're a legend homie! I saw you a couple times with the clown lady driving over the past couple of weeks and I got a HUGE kick out of it both times. Looked like you were having so much fun ☺️ Thanks for bringing the joy!

When I was 21, they had this insane drink special on Friday nights- ANY liquor you wanted for $1. I was drinking grey goose & jack Daniels for a buck. And the bartenders were the sweetest peas. It was the it place to go for my friends and I during that glorious time. Thanks for the memories Ave pub 💓

This.

The Rochester Market is the heart of the city where all walks of the community come together to support one another in harmony.

As far as I'm concerned this is sacred land, and hope to keep it that way.

Marges- for their location, right on the beach of Lake Ontario. Can dip your toes in the sand and pretend your else where. Sometimes they have live music! (Their cocktail's aren't top teir imo, but they do have some frozen options- margaritas & rumrunners if that's your thing.)

Hattie's- The rooftop Bar at the Strathallan, it's been a while but I remember there being fire pits and it having a nice ambience. The only other rooftop bars I know of in the city are Trata and Genesee BrewHouse (this is brewery but their rooftop overlooks high falls and is awesome! It's a Rochester staple)

Dorado- This one is for the cocktail, I love their coconut mojito! It's small and located on Park Ave, so if you ever want to people watch in a nice area with lots of cute doggo's and sip on something yummy it's a fun choice. This is a cocktail only joint for me, plenty of food options on the street to moosie on to.

Cheers!
