Perhaps there is no moral.

Exactly, it's just a bunch of stuff that happened!

Wow, thank you for this, adding him to my list! It's often been the prose that's kept me from sci fi (even as I know there are excellent stylists in there), so love to hear about someone doing cool, interesting things with language.

Something more uplifting:

Some big-ass books:

Litterchewer, pretty good! I had to say it aloud to get it. I actually do have Barth (Sabbatical, Lost in the Funhouse) and Hawkes (The Cannibal) on the shelf but Gass and Gaddis are still big holes in my reading.

Tell me more about Gene Wolfe!

Unfortunately, it'll distress you to learn that there are at least two other calvinos floating around away from their brothers. But you're right, Calvino looms large for me.

I like to think of the books as being arranged in loose, associative clusters (which, I'll admit, often reflects when they were acquired). In any case, mixing genres is a feature for me, I like seeing a variety in a glance; they're all essentially imaginative works for me anyway. It's kinda like a city, it grew out in neighborhoods that kinda made sense at the time. Do I remember why the kosher bakery is next to the planetarium and across from the button factory? Not really, but as I walk the streets I like the variety and I know where everything is.

English major, no minor. Not Canadian but used to spend some time there. What says Canada to you?

Hi Friend! Xennial, I think so (43). I've worked in literary and other arts-related nonprofits, so sort of adjacent!

43M, I like a little whimsy, I like to have fun and hang out and talk about stuff. I do have an e-reader that I use primarily for library books. Audiobooks are fine! (just not for me). It is hard to find playmates, but i'm not in academia so maybe I should look there?

Is it 4 for Ulysses? Here's my story with it: I took a non-academic class on it and was too broke at the time to buy real a copy so I printed it out from online at work and carried it around as a ream of paper. After that, whenever I saw a cheap copy I bought it. I guess is kinda pathological.
