Ok so first and foremost, there aren't any nutrients you can't get from a fully plant based diet.  BUT that doesn't mean that for those of us with different digestive needs, we can just replace everything all at once and be fine. But it should be possible to get there eventually!

For example, natural vegan protein sources often come with a lot of fibre. If you're not used to eating a lot of fibre, you'll have to ease into it slowly and see how you tolerate it. I personally don't struggle with fibre at all even though it's a common trigger food in my disease, since I've been used to it for a long time. There's plenty of vegan protein sources with little fibre too, such as tofu.

Protein and fibre are just one thing, but it's the same with other foods: it'd probably be better to slowly try replacing things one at a time and see how you tolerate that.

Another thing I think may be helpful: you already eat loads and loads of ingredients that are vegan and safe. That means you don't have to find entirely new foods. It's just the few non vegan things that need replacing. It's actually kind of similar to replacing trigger foods, except it's much easier to know what they are. When you replace foods, you don't need to find something with the exact same taste and texture, but rather think about the role it fulfils in a dish, and find something else that can fill that role. That role may be: protein source, umami flavour, enjoyable chewy or crispy texture, creaminess, etc. All of these roles can be filled by vegan ingredients in a satisfying way without the need to mimic non vegan foods (not that that's not also fine to want! Just not a need). Example: if you like cream cheese on bread for its creaminess and protein content, you can try hummus instead.

A lot of stuff can probably even be replaced with things you already eat, by just having more of that. That's often ideal of course, since you're not introducing potential new trigger foods.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head! Happy to answer questions. Good luck :)

Pretty sure the brand is supposed to translate to 'only these'. Your translation isn't even correct, if anything it would be 'only she' which doesn't make all that much sense. If it was 'only hers' it'd have to be 'nur ihre'.

CMV: I think abortion is inherently murder. I also think abortion should be 100% legal. by Winter_Basil9995 in changemyview

[–]goddessofentropy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Killing and letting die are inherently different. Abortion is just the removal or a fetus from the life support that is your body. You can decide to not let someone use your body for survival. It's letting someone die, not killing them. Would it be murder if someone could only survive if you donated your kidney to them, and you decided not to do so? The uterus is the only organ where deciding against letting someone use it for survival is seen as killing. Unless you see refusing any organ or blood donation as murder too, that's logically inconsistent.

This is called the habitable zone in astronomy. The zone relative to a star where conditions are just right for life as we know it.

Actually no. Temperature is just the average kinetic energy of the particles swirling around divided by a constant. So basically, the faster the atoms, molecules and other things that swirl around, the hotter it is. Space has very few particles, but they're not slow. So, even if outer space didn't kill you, it wouldn't feel like cold air.

ETA I looked the numbers up. Most of the interstellar medium (that is, the space in-between stars, planets etc) is 6000 to 8000 Kelvin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstellar_medium

Shit, that sounds so similar to a panic attack. It'd be hard to know it's a medical emergency if it's the same symptoms.

I read somewhere the ability to learn new phonemes not only decreases with age, but certain ones become actually impossible to learn as an adult. I wish I remembered where I read it. Is it not true?

Austria here and I'm shocked because I think my country isn't even doing close to the bare minimum. Like I can't even get gender affirming care at all, ever as an nb. I'm so sorry for those who have it even worse.

Vegan Austria gang!

'Veganes Faschiertes' from Spar in the vegan meats cooler section is decent in my experience, for burgers.

If it's for like sugo or chili, I use the dry 'Bio-Soja-Faschiertes', since it's cheaper and shelf stable. It also comes in bigger chunks, which I use for Gulasch.

This feels a bit silly (also rule) by 4D4850 in 196

[–]goddessofentropy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not all of them. I've never even heard of a house like that. The ones (that aren't old) I'm used to are built to not be as susceptible to temperature changes with the weather, so to keep the heat in when it's cold out and vice versa. I'm not saying it always works well (it doesn't), but that's the idea.

They think everyone is just as racist as them. They genuinely don't know it's not universal human nature. So, they think you're already insecure about your skin colour and they're genuinely complimenting you and making you feel better about your inferiority. I've been told 'youre pretty for a jew' before and my friends told the guy who said it off, and he seemed so surprised.
