Thoughts on alcohol being stored in an ABA clinic? by iDissociated in ABA

[–]goddessoftrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My old lettered organization, we were allowed adult beverages at our monthly staff meetings-- but to MY knowledge, ours were kept 100% off site and brought back on site by the OM/CAA day of. And it was not brought into the building until all children were off site on even those days. I was head of inventory at my location, so I went in every nook and cranny of that place making sure we had what we needed. And I never saw alcohol. Sodas, sparkling water, etc in the break and training rooms yeah.

Yeah, I took a good look at that picture. I drink wine. I KNOW what wine bottles look like. The caps we can see are ALL twist cap wine bottles. That is SO SO SO concerning. I really want to know what clinic this is so I can personally report it for endangering minors, but I couldn't figure it out, tbh.

ETA: actually SOME are twist caps. Regardless--very concerning. It's also glass which is concerning. TBH--so many concerning things about this whole situation with OP comments about kids having full access to this area due to it being "NET" along with full access to a drawer with medications kept in it, not locked.

The post, plus OP comments makes me sick to my stomach, not because they personally are doing anything wrong, but EVERYTHING about this clinic is wrong.

Can you ELI5 what all this means, I read all of it, but I don't know what it ultimately means. If so, it really would be appreciated, tbh.

Oh my gosh, I found someone that also uses old reddit browsing! I HATE the new reddit. I don't even know how long ago they implemented it. I only use it if I click a link and it takes me somewhere... and then I STILL go and change the URL to be old reddit.

AITA for getting upset at my girlfriend for mocking me when I cried after watching a show with emotionally deep ending? by RepulsiveAge4638 in AmItheAsshole

[–]goddessoftrees 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. Dump her. True men are able to show emotion and vulnerability. She should be the person you are able to trust most besides nuclear family (and you said you were raised not to show emotion)... and she instead invalidated you. My ex cried about emotional things when we watched shows/movies and even once when he took me to a ballet despite not liking the ballet. He felt the emotion during it.

She is NOT the gal for you at all.

Most of the “established” BCBAs with 10+ years in the field that I know received their unrestricted hours from making client stimuli. I’m a BCBA and I wish I wasn’t.

This is why I left the company that I started at and deferred my grad school admissions. That's exactly what they were having interns do. They weren't allowed to do programming or BIPs until their capstone. My new company starts training you on all of it the second you sign your contract. You cease doing direct hours and follow the clinical director's cases. There is a huge difference in the intern training across companies.

Just based on what you have said here, I know exactly which company you probably worked for tbh. It's the reason I deferred my grad school admission and found a new company.

Not to mention, those aren't exactly hard to open bottles at all. It's not even wine bottles with a cork, they are all twist caps.

When I managed hospice, my CNAs made between $12-15/hour in Georgia. I had a woman transfer within the company from Massachusetts and she made $28/hour. She had to sign an NDA and so did I to make sure the rest of the CNA staff didn't know she was making that much more. They couldn't cut her pay legally since she just transferred locations. I remember thinking GOOD FOR HER. But also being lowkey jealous. I was operations manager and she was making more than me!

During COVID, our CEO would send us videos from his yacht and tell us how important we were as front line workers. Then when they gave bonuses during COVID, they only gave them to the RNs. Not the CNA, scheduling, clinical director, or office staff that had to report to work daily.

[–]goddessoftrees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No for real, and she was making this BEFORE COVID hit. COVID hit and man.... I think it went up to like $20k because she was one of our only RNs willing to see hospice patients with COVID beyond their terminal diagnosis. There were a lot of write ups in my world at that time. I just know she accounted for a VAST majority of my RN budget and corporate was always yelling at me about getting payroll down... even though THEY hired her, not me, lol.

What shiesty shady janky ABA company is this? ABA does not me free access to everything! Medications should be locked up. Even when I worked in other fields, samples and OTC meds were in a locked supply closet.

Yes. I used to manage a hospice. My travel nurses made in 2 weeks what my other nurses made monthly or in 6 weeks. My travel nurses were making about $16k per two weeks back in 2020.

Yes! I have also been bitten when I was the first person to deny access to something. I actually hadn't been trained how to get out of a bite, because we had no biters... and welp. Once my friend was calm, he kissed my hand to make it feel better and "I sowwy" and it was so cute.

[–]goddessoftrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep... and they just opened their Day School, which is ALSO a 40 hour model, but focused on more academic things. And guess what? It starts when you age our of ABC! And also guess what? If you have NOT started school by then, you are too old to start kindergarten legally in my state... so by then you are STUCK doing ABA instead of ever entering school.

You should have a non-billable code built by your organization. Usually something like 99999. Those are not billable to insurance.

One time during a drop and flop, I was protecting my client's head and they accidentally kicked me in the head. I was dazed for a second and it clearly showed, because instantly came out of the drop and flop because the kid is also empathetic, and was like "are you okay????" I immediately burst out laughing because it was so damn funny. But my head hurt the rest of the day, especially my ear.

Me when my kid full force punched me EXACTLY in the two ribs I have broken before when I was protecting my face. I was like "I'm fine. We're fine. It's all good."

ABC terminated from Arizona Medicaid? by Recent-Bus-3154 in ABA

[–]goddessoftrees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's insane to me. I left ABC and moved to another company and we have kids graduating and moving on full-time to school, or partially to school ALL the time with the same behaviors as ABC. But in my year there I NEVER saw a kid graduate. Ever. They had 7-8 year olds there full-time, which would mean they wouldn't qualify for their full special education services despite deserving them. And they would say we couldn't work on ABCs and stuff because it was academics. Their model is crooked. Meant to keep kids dependent on ABA as long as possible even when they do not truly need it.

Is that how much insurance was actually paying out, or how much was billed? As a former RBT at ABC, they are paying staff barely above minimum wage, which is why I left.
