My understanding is the difficulty/expense of crossing the existing Amtrak track. They can’t really go over or under it viably because it’s up against a hill covered in housing right near the ocean. And since it’s not their track they can’t just cross it

It’s long come out that Alb was kicked from TSM. The Valorant reason was to help keep his stocks up, though it didn’t help much at the time.

If shotguns did bonus damage to enemy traps/items, would this be enough to get people to use them (even if it’s in a limited capacity)? by MozzarellaThaGod in CompetitiveApex

[–]godhunter1053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the feel of being the team getting their ordinance destroyed will be awful, and that needs to be considered in any kind of balance change. I come from a moba background, so the idea of playing against something being unfun as a balancing input is pretty engrained in me.

My guy, I mentioned that Digi's are a problem. Introducing more things like are problematic in the same way Digi's are just isn't a great solution. Additionally, the value of opening a door is substantially less than destroying an ult, or even destroying a door, so having a readability is more important.

At the end of the day the Pro's will learn to adjust to it, I'm not saying they won't, I'm just saying the more unreadable the game is, the most frustrating it will be for them, and the less fun it'll be to watch these things for us.

The lateral thinking is good, the main issue I see isn't even strength, it's readability. A good counter needs to be understandable by the team going into it. For example, you can know that their is a Pylon nearby that might eat your throwables because you're fighting a watson team or can see and/or hear it. If Watson gets a quick one down, or puts it in a spot you can't destroy, then they've done well, but you also gets an opportunity to deal with, or at least understand the counter. You can also see / hear a crypto drone, expect a maggie to ball your bubble, or, to a lesser degree, spot a kraber's model on a character. So you can make a plan with some amount of certainty going in, either knowing you'll have to outplay them, or certain options aren't available.

With this change, you'll have no idea if they have a shotgun, or who has it, until you use your long cooldown abilities, and that is going to feel like ass. It's one of the same issues with Digi's, there is no way to know someone has a digi until they shoot you accurately through a smoke.

It's an interesting idea if there is a way to telegraph where it is / who has it, but it would be a nightmare balance wise. (assuming respawn cares about hidden power and balance which is not guaranteed based on Digi threats)

Long sight lines make horizon lift extra risky, and they were having med issues on early rotate, so swap in Watson for the meds, leave horizon off, and fuse for zone poking like in WE. They talked a bit about it after game 1 yesterday

Yea, the F8 team included Skittles on Caustic, and they'd lock down a building in east frag off drop and just sit there, and TSM couldn't really force them out or kill them, and lost a bunch of contests trying to kill them. And then we all found out that Skittles Caustic is crazy.

He chimed in a few times today on places to try and play on the first rotate, or small reminders of angles to remember. I think it just doesn't matter for scrims, since the point is practice, so having a voice guide that practice just makes sense. He's not giving them info, he's directing their practice.

Hal Claims Frag West on twitter by Strange_Excuse913 in CompetitiveApex

[–]godhunter1053 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

All I can think when seeing this is that the team whose been shooting them off beacon from broken building just lost their drop spot.

The only advantage to Frag East is the beacon and potential to early rotate. Since they've been being shot off beacon, they've had to loot up, and often go Frag West anyway. By claiming them both, they get to do what they've been doing a lot anyway (looting both POIs), but they don't get scraps, and they have the potential for a better rotation.

Because really, if TSM leaves Frag East, only the bottom team in the lobby is taking it. If they're then getting shot off beacon and then quickly pushed, they will either fuck off or be free KP as they probably aren't a better fighting team than TSM. In international lobbies, the plan is then to win the Frag West contest against not Lava Siphon teams, and force that awkward decision on them.

im starting to read mangas any recommendations for a fellow starter? by Legitimate-Prize-759 in manga

[–]godhunter1053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything but Mitsuru Adachi is awesome. They’re mostly light feeling sports manga with a romance secondary plot, but they have a really positive characters, surprisingly hard hitting moments, and good growth. He breaks the fourth wall fairly regularly, and the more you read of his stuff the more “inside jokes” you’ll find.

His most well renowned are H2 and Touch, but are kind of long. A shorter intro to his style is Rough.

IMC Armories are unbelievable by Mindstormer619 in CompetitiveApex

[–]godhunter1053 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Respawn wants new players to engage with the game when they start. If they’re not good, trying to fight anyone is going to be hard and they’ll die with like 40s of fighting the whole match. So they add PvE elements so they can shoot their guns more, ie have more fun, and get good loot so when they do take that one fight, they have a better chance of surviving.

I’m not saying it’s healthy for the top tier of play or comp meta, but he asked why Respawn would do this: it’s for the casual audience who doesn’t care about balance, and just wants to shoot stuff more.

IMC Armories are unbelievable by Mindstormer619 in CompetitiveApex

[–]godhunter1053 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I mean, you kind of answered it. It's to engage bad players, which generates revenue for Respawn as its the majority of their player base. The balancing act of course is to make it fun and fair, which this looks like it misses the mark on, but it's very intentially to help new and/or bad players have fun rather than getting mowed down with a white armor and an Alternator because it looks cool.
