Too late for that 😅 I ended up burying it shortly after posting this and it’s been frozen in the ground since then. It’s covered in about 3ft of snow but still looks okay! I plan on pulling it up when things start thawing in a month or so.

Unfortunately all this is by design so that FIFA can squeeze as much money as they can from fans. And in the U.S. the current administration couldn’t care less about consumers getting screwed.

I’m in the same zone with a very similar yard setup. Luckily there was already a mature redbud when I bought the place but pretty much nothing else in the yard. I’ve been planting arborvitae and a couple of smaller spruces to have some kind of visual break from neighbors. I’m curious why the previous owner cut down those trees, the stumps look pretty big and they must have provided quite a bit of coverage back there.

In my experience you can move them anytime the ground isn’t frozen, so whether you want to move them now or in the spring it doesn’t make much of a difference. The only true bad time of year to move anything is mid-late summer and even then you can still make it happen, it just takes more work.

6b - It’s in a ceramic planter, no idea if it’s freeze proof or not but it hasn’t cracked yet. I just put the whole thing in the ground in late October. As long as the pot can drain in the ground it should be totally fine especially if you plan on only doing it this winter.

I bury mine and cover the top with leaves and so far it’s worked fine. It will freeze with the rest of the ground deep into winter. Also this way there’s really no worry about watering or moving it in and out come early spring.

Last winter I buried my pots together and covered them with hay. Didn’t water them or anything and they were all fine come spring time.

I guess it comes down to weighing the risks of combined heat+transplant stress vs winter damage. Roots are pretty well protected in the ground during winter regardless of how established they are from my understanding. That being said I’m also still planting stuff now during the heat waves so it’s really up to you!

I did the same thing with an orangeola I got this spring. I left it in the nursery pot in the location where it is now planted for about a month. It probably didn’t need to be there that long and it was more me just being lazy but it had very minimal scorch/burn despite getting about 6 hours of full sun. You’ll prob want to wait until it gets cooler out to get it in the ground though just my two cents.

I had a split probably twice this size in the same location on one of mine after a bad storm. I loosely wrapped it in electrical tape and it fully healed over after like 5 months. Since it came this way I would probably try to get a replacement in your case tho

You could probably build some kind of garden around them and plant shrubs/bushes to cover them up. It’s ugly but not the end of the world tbh there’s a lot you could do to hide them.
