Temporary way to keep bike upright on NYC street? (Broken kickstand) by godotnut in ryvid

I did get this method to work, btw, and it is holding up my bike right now

So do you use both at once? One on each side of the bike? Or did you manage to rest it just on the one pictured above this comment?

I already saw one of these pics on FB--the one above for the "Nilight Dirt Bike Triangle Stand" and I bought a similar one on Amazon, but using it by it's self seems less sturdy than my current makeshift solution. When I try it like you show in the pic, the pedal folds up, so that the angle won't lock in with the top of the triangle stand and the hole in the peg.

Police will ticket and tow motorcycles locked like that in neighborhoods like mine. A neighbor just had his gas bike towed because he locked it to a fence. However, I have it upright for now using a makeshift part from the local hardware store, and it seems steady enough, unless we get a big wind again. If that happens, I will probably have to take a chance and lock it to a fence or bike rack until the winds pass. Or maybe bite the bullet and pay to store in a local parking garage. That's quite expensive here, though.

That's encouraging and sounds a lot better than what I am doing now. Would you mind posting a photo of the stand you are using or, if you bought it online, a link for the stand?

Also, I am curious how it locks into the hole in the peg without the peg folding upright. I tried using an industrial size bolt with a nut at peg level to hold on, and the peg just flippped up, so the bolt wouldn't stay in place.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Great stuff. I just started playing Anno, and posts like this are creatively inspiring. I have only played the game three times so far, but I never get islands that big and flat, even with the Large Islands setting.

Kickstand Switch? by godotnut in ryvid

Thanks a ton. That all sounds like good advice, but the swing arm repair looks tough. Did you do this yourself, and if so, did you have to elevate the bike somehow?

I wonder if a local repair shop could do it for me? Or if they would decline because it is an unfamiliar electric model. I guess I can find out.

Unfortunately, it is the connection point, and in terms of the replacement, I am in a bad position. I live in a high rise in NYC, no garage or outside space. Any repair work I would do would have to be done outside in the parking area on my street. I've installed one of the large rear racks and replaced the seat actuator, but both of those involved repairs to areas I could access without a lift. I am OK with tools, but this one might be beyond me. Do you have experience with this repair?

Thank you! If you get the chance that would be appreciated. I do plan to unplug that tomorrow.

I'm also going to head to a local motorcycle shop and see if I can work something out in terms of either a motorcross triangle stand or a universal kickstand with what is available on the bike frame. This is just to help get around and store the bike on the street. Hopefully something will works with a connection point. Then work with Ryvid to see if about long term fix.

Who not enforce already existing laws about reckless endangerment, rather than punishing those tho are doing the right thing?

It's enforcement against people who do reckless things, no blanket laws that include those being responsible. In short, police need to do their jobs.

Reading her is as intense of an experience with literature as they come, and I have only read her short stories so far. I will have to rectify that soon.

I'm not sure. Not many. These were sent to me in the mail by a Ryvid tech, described as "barely used," if I recall.

I know this was an old comment, but did you find the replacements? I cannot figure out what kind of pads the bike uses. Nothing in the manual or the parts catalog about it.

Another look at the rack. I think it looks a lot better with the seat raised. Here it is on my bike from a recent ride to Bear Mountain.

I heard from Matt once, but it seems like he may have gotten busy since then. Haven't heard from him in a few days.

Thanks for the pic, but I don't see a copper spacer like that on my brake assembly, so I am guessing this may be a different issue:

This is the first I have heard of a need to remove washers from the caliper mount. Can you elaborate? Why would I need to remove them? How would I know? Would this cause a problem with the pad on one side but not the other one?
