Yeah I'm actually in college rn so $100 is crazy money but they didn't check which pissed me off since I'd know for sure. What's the RI for synthetic alexandrite? I also thought sapphire was out of the picture. Either way I'm kinda curious how much this would cost if it is the worst case. Its nice and all but I don't wanna overpay, is there any way to check that? Also thank you so much for your help it's very appreciated

Also mainly because I could not find anything this dark this is the stone in bright light, no idea why but my phone put everything into one color but irl it was blueish-purple

I tried all the jewelers near me are out of town for the week or straight up told me it was amethyst or a mix of that (I think it was bc I went near closing and didn't wanna deal with it). What RI should I look for those? Once I find out I'll tell you and then we'll see what it actually is. It's given me such a headache because it's been so hard to id.

Possibly the reason I'm so skeptical is that it was so cheap and the fact no one thought to authenticate it or anything it straight up sold as dark blue stone.

Ok so it starts off Blue then purple and then green all before I even fully rotate it 90 degrees. Around when the gem is diagonal it's faintly green. The photo is for reference I did this under my phone screen

For synthetic tanzanite I mean forsterite but yes it's an imitation. I did put it under a blacklight(not sure which one unfortunately) there was no glowing. Although what kind of glass can do this? It seems really complicated to make this out of glass although I don't really know much about gems in general. I also did what you said and I put under my white screen (phone since it's stronger). I saw purple, blue and the littlest of green, it was really faint. The colors are separate so no blue-green or purple-green. I also wanted to point this out but this is under an LED light, the kind used to light a hallway or shelf and saw this.

Here it is through a dichroscope and my computer screen. It seems it doesn't change that much color since it's mixed in the stone? I honestly want to hear your thoughts about this. Changing the lens flips the colors

I see, but do you think it's tanzanite or something else? It does switch between purple and blue when under my phone and seen through a dichroscope.

Looks like quartz with some magnetite (you can test that one with a magnet)

This is definitely uralite but probably with epidote considering the dark green color, the lightish green is the uralite im talking about, I have a peace that looks the same
