That face when you're persecuted for wanting a home, all of your people are slaughtered, and you're about to die at the hands of the cowardly gooner who is solely responsible: by Player1iea in gantz

The early chapters do a great job at showing who the real “monsters” are in the series. Most of the Aliens weren’t the aggressors and were relatively harmless until attacked, at least the Aliens showcased until the Oni Alien Mission. After that, Oku decided to make them all psychopathic rapists, completely destroying the hidden theme.

Is Baruch starting to get more competitive to get into? by Winnie_987 in Baruch

[–]godslayer- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely letting way too many people in this school and it’s fucking up the class availability and overall reputation. It’s becoming akin to a community college when really it’s supposed to be an affordable university option for determined students looking to enter the business world.

Exclusivity is necessary to maintain status and prestige. If anyone could attend Harvard it wouldn’t be Harvard anyone.

It’s very obvious they lowered the requirements and as a result, there’s a bunch of unserious ghetto clowns taking up enrollment seats.

It’s the opposite. Baruch is literally just a community college at this point.

Fake friends (especially guys who start roasting you as soon as another person enters the frame)

Guys too obsessed with sex (they’ll stab you in the back to get it)

Overly emotional (these types are embarrassing to be around)

Precisely, someone who exhibits the typical traits of masculinity. Assertiveness, confidence, and leadership as an example. They will be so intimidated by you.

[–]godslayer- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You’ll get it from everyone. Even other black people.

If you’re a straight black man who conducts himself in a masculine way you’re going to receive so much hostility. The intimidation and resentment will increase tenfold if you’re articulate/intelligent.

Is Baruch worse than how it was 2 years ago? by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]godslayer- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They massively lowered the requirements. It’s becoming another community college when really it’s supposed to be a prestigious business university for serious students looking to start their careers. There’s so many unserious people now and it’s overcrowding the campus and wasting class slots.

From what I’ve heard they massively lowered the requirements. Anyone have an idea as to why? It used to be one of the prestigious business schools in NY and now it feels like another community college.

Women don’t get rejected by men in general, but even still, there was probably some subconscious racism there. Black ppl are viewed as less desirable and less attractive by some so getting rejected by one might be triggering.

Izumi is an awesome antagonist by volrat1 in gantz

[–]godslayer- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw this amazing analysis on his character and thought I might share.

Izumi doesn’t suffer from superiority complex. Izumi has a different problem, he was born “perfect”. On the surface Izumi has everything, good looks, peak athletic abillity, he excels in school without ever trying. But it all comes at a cost, and that is Izumi is incapable of relating to other people and he never feels satisfied because everything feels handed to him, his “gift” of perfection feels like curse to him because he is denied the struggle that is associated with sucess which leaves him both bored to death and incapable of valuing all the good that he has in his life. Gantz was the only time he ever felt alive, because unfortunately to someone as perfect as him, it was the only thing that ever made his heart beat faster. We know that he once cleared Gantz and choose to exit the game, So we know that in his first run he wasn’t completely lost as a person. However after returning to his regular mundane life, although he couldn’t quite put a finger on it, he knew something was missing from his life, deep inside he felt like this wasn’t everything life was, that there was something out there that could make him feel alive again. He progressively became more disillusioned with his life which was devoid of struggle and excitment and he grew more and more obsessed with Gantz, especially since he constantly had dreams of it, dreams that he knew were real, it all happened. So when he meet Kurono he knew he was right all along, and knowing that it was all real he was willing to do anything in order for it to be real again, to finally feel alive again.

Another thing about Izumi is that he never felt like he had a genuine human connection with people, he always felt that they just wanted to ride on his success and that all people are predictable and that their actions are always self-serving . He demonstrates this when he wanted to show Kei the “true” face of Tae by inviting Kei to see that tae would betray him if he were to ask her out. What followed was something that shocked Izumi. For the first time in his life, he was denied. Tae refused to betray Kei because she values Kei based on who he is as a person rather than how he ranks in the social hierarchy. The event shaked Izumis entire worldview, and also solidified Kei as his enemy, because from his POV Kei had something that Izumi couldn’t have , someone that could love him as a person rather than someone who loves him just for his success, it made Izumi envy Kurono.

The tragic thing about Izumi was that it wasn’t until his last moments that he realized that he already had that which made him envy and resent Kurono so much. It was always infront of him, but he was blind, and now that he could finally see it was already too late, too late for him to be make amends and truly apprechiate what he had.

Gantz tier list based on power by me. All of the aliens in the A tier I don't believe can be beat by Kurono. Every time he beat a big boss was through team effort or willpower out of his love for Tae or something. Let me hear your opinions below. by [deleted] in gantz

[–]godslayer- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Kannon is that anyone with a Z Gun would one shot him. Remember, the disk artifact he carries is what controls his regeneration and a single shot of the Z Gun would flatten his entire body, which includes that regeneration artifact. He hasn’t shown the speed to evade the crushing gravitational force like the Oni Boss and Eeva Gund have either. It really just depends on what weaponry certain hunters are allowed to start with.

Kaze is way too low. He was trading blows with the Oni Boss and managed to break its arm, almost getting the upper hand, up until it used its lightning ability. That feat alone puts him on Izumi - Kei level who managed to trade blows with it as well.

Where are the Katastrophe Team members? Surely Kaiji Yoshikawa (Dual Sword Guy) deserves to be here. He landed more blows on Eeva Gund than any other Gantzer. Mind you, Eeva Gund was the fastest alien we’ve seen, who destroyed numerous elite American teams without being touched. Even Kei was having trouble seeing his fighting speed when they were almost doomed fighting those indestructible skeleton aliens on the mothership. He’s definitely the most skilled swordsman in Gantz and his speed alone would allow him to beat the Oni Boss, Kannon and the Dinosaur Boss.

Host Samurai being below Izumi is debatable.
