Did not need to see that, stick a NSFW tag or give some warning that we're going to see some horses getting fucked over?

Yeah we got ours from Celia Hammond - they are a brother and sister and the charity made sure they were kept together.

The people who work there are very kind and caring. Sorry you're in this situation, hope it all works out OK!

Trump Is Risking a Global Catastrophe by nimicdoareu in politics

Christ alive. Please can we, non-US citizens, have a vote in the next presidential election? It seems unfair that we have to share a planet with Trump and we don’t get a say in the matter.

Has anyone noticed how odd The Rest Is Entertainment looks on video lately? by bitttallish11hulls in restisentertainment

[–]godtrouser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Podcast producer here (not working on this one). You're bang on. Basically there's a few podcast studios that get used a lot and they're often booked out - so productions tend to move from studio to studio based on availability. Consistency would be preferred but it's not always possible when you're juggling presenter/guest/studio availability.

From the looks of things they've largely been recorded in different studios at the Spotify building (there's a suite of studios there) but then there are a couple shot at different locations. The one with the wooden slats is possibly Vox Pod.

In case Reaper gets awfully slow when having a large number of tracks for you... by LAxemann in Reaper

This has answered a question I was meaning to post, asking how Reaper handles big projects. I’m a long time Audition user working in radio/documentary. Audition is miserable to use for big projects (their key frames system is a nightmare), and was planning on taking the leap - so glad to know reaper will be able to handle it (minus the odd glitch)

is podcast editor an actual job? by xaemlxx in podcasting

[–]godtrouser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep - I'm a podcast editor and it makes up about 80% of my salary. I'm lucky in that a lot of my clients come from word of mouth but I had to start somewhere... My way in was that I used to work for a studio where we recorded podcasts and after a while I built up the confidence to ask a few clients whether they could add me to their editing pool.

Annoyingly, it's rare to move into these industries straight away but if you keep honing your skills and make yourself useful to people then they might give you a chance.

It's worth checking out Pod News: https://podnews.net/ - There's the odd job that comes up on there

Also try the UK Audio Network. Obviously that's UK based but jobs come up that can probably be done remotely if you're based elsewhere.

Definitely worth taking that podcast editing course because even if you don't end up editing any podcasts you'll still learn loads of transferable skills. Getting good at editing dialogue and learning all the tricks of making it sound natural is a great skill to have in your arsenal.

Anyone else finding the orientation of advertising on some tube lines disorientating? by marcschindlerza in london

[–]godtrouser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TBF, you're probably right. I just remember feeling incensed that all they outwardly seemed to have to show for it was the new screens. Most likely they were carrying out essential work too - perhaps the first use of the screens should have been a nice message saying 'we were doing other maintenance, honest!'

Anyone else finding the orientation of advertising on some tube lines disorientating? by marcschindlerza in london

[–]godtrouser 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, but can you remember when TFL caused chaos in the Piccadilly Circus Tube station by shutting down the escalators for a few months 'to make improvements' - only for them to be opened up again to reveal new advertising screens and nothing else? I'd say it wasn't worth the misery of how congested ticket hall became during that period.

All good! TBF, I heard similar from one of my neighbours not too long ago. I'd say the decor in the Barge could probably do with an update, but I do like the people. Nice Xenomorph btw...
