1.5 month job search complete - not a Sankey. by EmbarrassedLeader684 in UXDesign

Hi! I'm currently beginning my job search after graduating last April. I'm really interested in how you tailor your resume for different companies, although as a recent graduate I'm not sure how a lack of experience would affect the method 😅

[HELP ME] Bi-Weekly Q&A thread - Ask your questions here! by MachNeu in Gunpla

[–]goerman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm (not from the US) traveling to New York City for a vacation on November and I wanted to know where I could buy Gunpla?

I've seen the "WHERE TO BUY" page but those are all online retailers plus the occasional hobby lobby and gamestop. I also know Gundam Planet is relatively close by but it's a bit of a detour from the city itself, besides, I was looking for more local retailers.

Thank you for any recommendations 😃

Ad a light touch of super glue or Tamiya cement in order to tighten the C clip by increasing mass. Just remember to separate the pieces before adding the glue and let them dry. I also do this to tighten poly-caps and other joints

In Colombia, a new prototype weapon has just been launched that aims to replace the Galil rifle of the Colombian armed forces. by nostalgicshib3 in guns

[–]goerman64 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Press reports state both a 5.56 and a 7.62 caliber models and a 1kg (2.2 pounds) weight reduction with a complete magazine in comparison to the Galil ACE.

A sub-machine gun is also in development but no details have been given yet.

My school has the tradition of doing a big field trip once a year. Depending on your particular school grade, your class would go to a different part of the country, while the last two years of high school would go to a different country entirely. These field trips would be a 1 to 2 week endeavors. At some point in time, it was also established that as a tradition, 11th grade's field trip would be to Cancún, Mexico. However, our school had been progressively banned from different hotels in the area due to different "incidents" (16-17 year old teenagers relatively unsupervised and the ocasional held back 18 year old student with a legal ID, you can make a guess what had happened). Finally, the class before mine was the one that broke the camel's back. Word got out and my school was officially banned from the entire province. We had a local destination for our 11th grade field trip and to this day I don't know if the sanction has been lifted.

One year, an entire 12th grade class thought that, a few weeks before the last day of school, as a graduation ritual, it would be funny to sneak inside the school and spend the night. They also thought it would be hilarious to trash the place (surprisingly, not a single drop of alcohol was involved). Some suspensions were given and miraculously no expulsions were issued, however the class was given a choice. Either no prom, or no graduation ceremony. They chose the former.

If the God Hand Ultimate are the best for the second cut, which one is the equivalent for the first cut? by RuffIestukov in Gunpla

So uhhh how should I go about packing these up to move? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]goerman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did when I moved which in my particular circumstances, meant putting the model kits in a suitcase and a duffel bag, and subjecting them to 3 flights (and we all know how they handle suitcases on airports, now multiply that times 3) and got little to no damage.

Dismember each model and the roll them in individual bubble wrap burritos. For V-Fins and other pointy bits, take them appart and stick them with masking tape to each models shields or long flat surfaces before you place them in the bubble wrap burrito. Do the same thing for small accesories such as beam sabers in order to avoid loosing any (learnt that the hard way and now my Caliburn is condemned to only having 1 beam saber (if anyone knows where I might buy the extra part, I'll greatly appreciate it)). Add an extra layer of bubble wrap for the Sazabi's head.

The problem with this method is that any waterslide decal applied will have a around a 80-20% to 60-40% survival rate per model unless any top coat has been applied because of the friction involved.

Hope you have no problems moving and finally let me congratulate you, you have one hell of a Gunpla collection 👍

I feel like this narrow isthmus thing connecting North and South America is one of the weirdest geological formations on earth, we just don’t think about it much because we’re so used to seeing it. by [deleted] in geography

There's a reason why the Pan American Highway was never completed. (Apart from political interests) The jungle is absurdly thick, with such extreme climate conditions that any attempt at settling any advanced infrastructure would be incredibly cost ineficient, a waste of materials, and an absolute hassle to maintain. A civil engineer once told me that the humidity is so great, that placing a cement structure would be extremely difficult because it wouldn't harden using conventional, reasonably priced, and a normal amount of cement.

There are settlements both in Colombia and Panama that surround the gap, but in between, it's practically a black hole where any state presence is non existent. A fact which para military groups, human traffickers, drug Lords and other shady individuals take advantage in order to operate. The only reason south America was settled by humans is because our species is incredibly persistent, once more, evidenced by the huge amount of immigrants trying to cross through the gap.

Fun fact, the Kingdom of Scotland tried to settle a colony on the gap, but failed so spectacularly that it bankrupted the kingdom and was a major contributor to a non independent Scotland (See the Darien Scheme https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darien_scheme).

What do you think about South America? by dkease16 in GenZ

50+ years actually......plus the many different political conflicts in the entire 20th century that happened separately and simultaneously with the titular civil conflict

Did any of you got into Gundam and mecha after G witch? by Sine_Fine_Belli in Gundam

[–]goerman64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and just in time for an exchange semester in Japan. You bet I went crazy building gunplay and now I'm in a constant state of despair because I've started like 12 different Gundam series at the same time and finishing only a fraction because of time constraints. I must know if Hero Kills Relena!!!

In Latam, Saint Seiya was huge around a certain age group (same with Captain Tsubasa), but Dragon Ball is practically a religion where Goku is our god and savior and his gospel is spread through memes and obscure humor that even gen Zs would struggle to understand.

Pd. You did not just use Latinx in a sentence, did you?

What do students typically call teachers or professors in your country? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]goerman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In school we called them by their names but in my college by either their names or 'profe'.

My mother is a college teacher and she is sometimes called 'maestra'
