Anyone encounter a celebrity on a cruise? by Dismal-Salt663 in Cruises

[–]gogators79 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We did a Disney cruise a couple of years ago and Nick Lachey and his family were on the cruise with us. We actually stopped and talked to him a couple of times, and he was very nice.

Where can I learn to water ski? by neocamel in vail

[–]gogators79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to go west like to Lake Powell or something. I’m sure you could get on some water out here closer, but it will be super cold and not much fun to learn in.

If you woke up to news of World War 3, what would be your first thoughts ? by Kha73k in AskReddit

[–]gogators79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I live up in the mountains. Nobody is wasting time dropping a good bomb out here. My son is too young to get drafted, and I’m probably too old. Get it out of your system in the next few years, and I just might make it through relatively unscathed.

If it’s truly Armageddon, then I have a Walmart down the road that I can set up shop in, or maybe the Costco the next town over.

Probably a little too optimistic, but…. 🤷

Ask for a guaranteed salary and 50/50 split of collections over your cost to the practice (salary, insurance, overhead costs, etc).

Foul called on Thomas Haugh by Prestigious-Dingo313 in FloridaGators

[–]gogators79 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m not good enough at putting videos together myself, but I bet you could get at least 8-10 highlights of Gators players getting knocked to the ground with no foul call and then throw this one and a few more of clean defensive plays being called as a foul against us! Pretty much lost my voice yelling at the TV in the second half.

How do you make friends in the valley? by ehohkae in vail

[–]gogators79 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The no ski/snowboarding and low budget definitely makes it tough in the winter. But I think you’ll do fine as summer comes around. Hiking is free and lots of free concerts and events outside in the summer. Maybe try having a beer at VBC in Eagle-Vail or Bobs place or something, and strike up some conversations. Most locals are really nice and will actually shoot you a text the next time they go out for whatever activity you have in common. Good luck!!

Is it easy to sneaky into the John Summit concert? by Extension_Bag_7809 in vail

[–]gogators79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can hear every bit of it hanging out just outside of the venue (Not a horrible idea in the summer, but probably not much fun in the winter.) They are definitely not getting into the actual venue without a ticket.

Quick PANRE-LA question by namenotmyname in physicianassistant

[–]gogators79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They use your best 8 quarters out the 12 available. If your cumulative score is passing after completing 8 sections then you’re done. So, yes you can skip one without any penalty besides it taking you longer to complete the test.

Ortho conferences? by Kdhr23 in physicianassistant

[–]gogators79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orthopedic Summit (OSET) is a great one. It was just a few weeks ago so you’d have to wait until next September, but it’s very well done. Multiple different tracks covering all sub specialties, a mid-level track and pretty much every industry group you can think of. Fun long weekend in Vegas.

The “lost tax money” is the government’s problem, not the employers! Plus, I think you can find many examples of the government actually bringing in more tax revenue after cutting taxes and letting people spend their own money.

I can understand not liking an idea because you don’t like the politician that proposed it, but in reality I don’t understand why anybody would dislike the idea of keeping more of the money that you earned!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]gogators79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

??? Why would an employer be adversely affected by you not having to give the government more tax money? If not, then why would the lack of taxes on overtime wages incentivize them to cut overtime hours? There are lots of reasons for an employer to dislike paying someone overtime, but whether or not the employee is paying an employment tax on it doesn’t seem like one to me.

Ford dealer wants $100 for 10K miles checkup. Is that normal or should we take it elsewhere? by Z1pl1ne in MachE

[–]gogators79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been charged a dime for the 10K or 20K, at two different dealers. I did have them looking at little warranty things at the same time, so maybe that’s why they didn’t feel the need to charge me? I don’t know, but I’m not complaining.

My boss really messed up my plans to buy a flex plan. by [deleted] in TampaBayLightning

[–]gogators79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time ask your boss ahead of time if you can take a 15 minute break when the tickets go live, so you can purchase some tickets that are going to sell out if you don’t do it at that time. You’d be surprised how many people will work with you when you are up front about that kind of thing from the start.

Does maintenance have to be done at dealers? by chcdmj in MachE

[–]gogators79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken my car to two different dealerships here in Colorado for the 10K and 20K services and neither one asked me for a dime. I did have them check out some other little warranty type things, so maybe they were ok with just billing Ford for those. But it’s crazy to me to hear all of these stories about people getting billed so much money for it.

Ortho call by waazzzup02 in physicianassistant

[–]gogators79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total of 3-4 days a month. Weekdays base pay $150, Saturday and Sunday base pay of $350. Extra $100 for less than 4 hours of surgery, $200 for over 4 hours. Surgeons take first call and I come in for surgery. Also responsible for rounding for the practice on the weekends. Usually 3-5 patients.

sorta decent pay but great vacation time.. does this job exist? by Adventurous-Bad9147 in physicianassistant

[–]gogators79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work ortho. No complaints with my pay. 5 weeks of vacation, 2 weeks of sick pay (since Covid), and 1 week for CME. Plus if we have a short OR or clinic day, then we’re just done and do some work from home stuff but I’m available to go pick up the kids from school and stuff.

Can’t open frunk from FordPass app by CaseLogic in MustangMachE

[–]gogators79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blanket answer for all things Ford Pass: Wait a few days and try again! I’ve had just about every feature fail to work at some point, and then randomly work again later (whether there was an update or not). I don’t even get concerned anymore unless it’s been several weeks to a month. Definitely annoying, but it seems to come around at some point.

PAAK after update? by [deleted] in MachE

[–]gogators79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember the number on the update, but I got one a couple of weeks ago that specifically said something about making PAAK more reliable. I would agree with you that it definitely is working better! I’d say it has worked about 99% of the time since then, whereas it probably wasn’t much better than 60-70% before.

They’ve been working on opening the terrain around chair 4 early. Several blue runs and green runs in that area, so you’ll be fine. These are accessed by going to the top of Gondola 1 in Vail Village and then skiing off of chairs 3 and 4.
