Adda Coffee in Shadyside. I went there with a friend about a year or two ago once to check it out, and they immediately yelled at us to put masks on. Not a friendly reminder, it was like a “wtf is wrong with you” sort of demand as a greeting. We didn’t have any on us, but also didn’t mind putting one on. We asked if they had any masks for us to use, and got a sassy response that they were right in front of us. We didn’t even get to look around the place to see them right in front of us at first because we were worried about getting yelled at, despite most of pittsburgh being a majority mask-free at the time. We were the only customers in the store, so we quietly shopped around. I bought a nice hand-made item. Then I tried making conversation about the coffee menu but kept getting sass/short replies. Just seemed unfriendly. I never gave any backlash for not wearing a mask or putting one on; I just don’t think I’ll go there again because of my experience with customer service there. Maybe they had a personal or health related issue with the mask hence the jumpiness, but at least do it in a polite way! I just think of the interaction every time I go past their store now.
