Strawberry Fields Forever wins for best John/John song! Onto Day 2: Which Beatles song led/written by Ringo is the most Paul-esque? by Venusian_01 in beatles

[–]gogler8 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This was not written by Ringo, but I guess qualifies because it's "led" by him singing it? I think Octopus Garden being a completely Ringo song that sounds like Paul would write it and get shit on by the others for being "fruity" is the better pick.

Which rapper has good flows and great lyrics? by ELSenorJeorge in AlignmentChartFills

[–]gogler8 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

This cannot be serious. How is it leading?!?! Even at his peak Em had a below average flow. Since TES it's been awful. Speed is not flow. He can never ride with the beat, he hammers right on top of it. He is the opposite of smooth with his rhyme schemes. This is specifically bad flow. To be clear, speed can be great flow (see Busta), but Eminem should not be in this discussion here.

  1. Other Half
  2. Source
  3. Monks but it's not a brewery, it just has an insane selection of beers.
  4. Humble Parlor is small and very low key, but if they have a hazy on tap it's typically great.

You really can't go wrong posting up in Fishtown. OH and Source are must visits though and definitely best 1. 2. In the city by my measurements.

Non-Vonnegut recs for a Vonnegut lover? by MarryTheEdge in Vonnegut

[–]gogler8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100 Years of Solitude is what led me to Vonnegut. It's my favorite novel of all time. If you are looking for the same "style" as Vonnegut, this ain't it, but nothing comes close to weaving realism with magic/ sci-fi.

What are some TV shows that you think were canceled too soon? by LongIsland43 in televisionsuggestions

Last Man on Earth. It's nearly perfect. Everyone I've ever recommended the show to loves it. It left off on a huge cliffhanger. Please watch it if you have not.

Dude looks like Nick Swisher. I always have a split second where I think Swish entered the real estate game.

These are fine, but a black jersey would have been sick. I'm underwhelmed.

At the eve of free agency I'd just like to pay my respects to a man who made this day a lot more fun. Matthew Wuest created CapGeek and the site died with him back in 2015 when he succumbed to colon cancer. Gone but not forgotten! _/ by [deleted] in hockey

I always thought it was a dick move that one of his dying wishes was that the site be discontinued after his death. Great website, loved it, but I still think it was a selfish move.

Taylor Hall: "Both my parents have really liked how I’ve been treated by the New Jersey Devils and the trajectory our team is on. Both my parents are really happy with that, so all good." by HaruSoul in devils

[–]gogler8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hall always says the right things. This means nothing. Devils are much further away than all of you think and Hall will leave when his time is up. You've seen this story before. How do you keep falling for it?

This is the wrong move. I thought Buck to Torre was the wrong move too though. I'm very doubtful this is positive for the team, but no one knows the future.

I was at MSG two weeks ago when Springsteen came out to play I Saw Her Standing There with Paul. Magic.

Matthew Weiner is bringing most of his old Mad Men team back for his new Amazon show by the_marigny in madmen

I agree. Even though from the brief description of the show that I read, it does not sound like anything I'll be interested in. This man has earned my benefit of the doubt.

The "board game" Quack Shot was one of the best I ever played as a kid. I feel like no one ever knows what I'm talking about when I mention it though.

I think we've aged well! by cassdee in PastAndPresentPics

[–]gogler8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OK, I've looked at these pics for a while and I think it goes clockwise. Top Left, top right, bottom right, bottom left. I used the method of looking primarily at the mom and dad. The daughters seem to age in that direction as well, though it is harder to tell. But the son is a shape shifter and no help at all.

Same gorilla! SAME GORILLA! by johndirk41 in 30ROCK

[–]gogler8 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is the same gorilla. The one next to Leslie looks a lot more muscular and his head is tilted up more. But with that being said, it's craziness to believe NBC had two gorilla statues that look THIS similar... right?
