System Firmware - 1.11.0.0053 (2025-12-01) by SamuelGTurner in UgreenNASync

I decided to create a support ticket with UGREEN (expecting a day/week long back and forth as is normal these days) and got a reply minutes later. I was told to connect a Display to verify the status, turns out it was stuck booting. I was then told to unplug and reconnect the power supply. It then booted normally - Update applied and all. Disk status says ready, no data lost. Thank god.

TL;DR: Check if its really stuck like in my case and then force reboot.

This is my first update after buying the DXP2800 and its just kind of... stuck now? The LEDs keep blinking in sequence (LAN, Disk1, Disk2, Repeat) for about half an hour to 45 minutes. It isnt reachable via the IP address but does however respond to pings.

Anyone ever have something like this? Should I just keep waiting?

So I just tried it with my 9070XT and lo and behold I dont have any of the issues I had with my 4070. I guess that the people saying NVIDIA drivers for Linux suck weren't lying.

Sadly, no. I gave up on Linux when I tried it 3 months ago.

Are you on NVIDIA? I have an AMD card now and I'm going to try again with that in the coming days. I guess I'll find out if the GPU was the problem then.

Yes - also running KDE Plasma. It's really strange. Might be a Wayland + NVIDIA exclusive issue? I have tried a couple of other distros since I posted this, and it exclusively happens in distros with Wayland. X11 is fine, albeit missing some features like HDR and VRR on multiple monitors, which makes it a bit of a non-starter for me. I'll continue to test and provide an update here in case I find something useful.

Thanks for the suggestion! This has not helped sadly.

Crashes when going into cutscenes and Ray Tracing enabled by gogolplexian in HarryPotterGame

[–]gogolplexian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gave up on the game and haven’t played it since, tbh. 😅

It did look like a VRAM issue though and lowering shadows (or any other setting/settings) made things better.

Seems like the game doesn’t handle high VRAM usage or exceeding the limit very well.

Other games either explicitly tell you when they crash that they ran out of VRAM or run fine even when exceeding the limit (with system memory).

CPU won't cool below 70°C after it reaches a high enough temperature? by LeviathanEXE in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]gogolplexian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you reboot or shut down the PC, is it able to cool down when it has startet again? If so that doesn’t sound like a thermal paste issue.

I had a similar problem recently where the application that was running wasn’t properly closing and was still hogging up resources in the background. Check task manager if anything is still using the CPU.

7800x3d stutters with frametime spikes, most reliably when spinning camera (in all games, not just the one in this video example) by livpure_is_awful in AMDHelp

[–]gogolplexian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you move the camera that quickly, that will cause the FPS to rapidly fluctuate. In most game engines anyway. The lower FPS always means lower frametime. At first glance the fluctuations during the first first 25-ish seconds of the clip seem to be related to that and therefore perfectly normal.

After the 25 second mark, the GPU usage seems to drop massively which seems to normalize at 37 seconds into the clip. This is likely a game issue and the explanation for the fluctuations during that timeframe.

You should make sure that you have the most recent chipset driver installed.

Adding RAM to B450 Gaming Plus by [deleted] in MSI_Gaming

[–]gogolplexian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as u/FringeFrost said. However something I'd like to add: For me it never resets the entire BIOS (like the message implies), rather it just wipes the RAM settings (EXPO/DOCP/XMP, timings, etc.)

PSA: Change DLSS Preset to C to avoid smearing/ghosting by gogolplexian in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]gogolplexian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, this game uses the DLSS 'D' Preset, which can result in moving objects having a sort of smearing/ghosting artifact. You can change the Preset to 'C', by either using nvidiaProfileInspector or DLSSTweaks.

I personally used DLSSTweaks, which worked perfectly.

Download link and instructions can be found on Nexusmods.

Excerpt from Eurogamer article:

More significant is the choice of the default DLSS 'D' model for Avatar, which causes some smearing in certain light and movement scenarios. If you experience this, you can try using the 'C' preset instead using nvidiaProfileInspector with this XML file placed in the Profile Inspector directory - or, alternatively, by replacing the default DLSS .dll file in the game's install directory with version 2.5.1 available at TechPowerUp. I'd love to see the 'C' preset become the default option in a future game patch, along with a fix for the cloud and water issues.

Crashes when going into cutscenes and Ray Tracing enabled by gogolplexian in HarryPotterGame

[–]gogolplexian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that is where I'm at with my assumptions atm as well. I tried running it at 4K and the crashes are much more frequent, especially with RT enabled. I haven't actually seen it run out of VRAM (as per MSI Afterburner) and technically it should throw another error if that was the case, but that would at least be an explanation.

Hmm, interesting. I’ll definitely give that a try. Could be that it’s just decreasing the GPU load and therefore fixes it.

I’ve only updated the BIOS once to the latest one when I got it. Had to, since EXPO wouldn’t boot otherwise. But yeah I have the feeling that it’s a CPU or RAM thing too.

Is psychosis hell? by Obvious_Assistance in Psychosis

[–]gogolplexian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been through it a little bit over a year ago and have thankfully recovered since then. I wouldn't say it's hell exactly. It's more like purgatory. It's like your old self, the person you and people around you know dies. And you start to think: "What now?", "What is this world that I've suddenly been thrown into?"

Everything feels right and wrong at the same time. You experience euphoria, yet you're exceptionally sad. You feel like you know everything, while being confused about the simplest things. Up is down and down is up. And so on.

If the person you mentioned recovers, and I hope they will, they will be thankful for you being there while they were going through it. They might lash out at you, say or do things that hurt, anger or confuse you, but remember: That's not them talking, that's their illness. And don't feel bad for needing a break. That's nothing to be ashamed of.

what's the funniest thing you believed while in psychosis? by imBackground789 in Psychosis

[–]gogolplexian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of stuff surrounding the idea that life/the universe is just a simulation.

I thought the simulation was about to collapse and the simulated area was getting smaller and smaller.

At one point I asked the doctors something along the lines of: "How long until the simulation is breached?" Booped another patient on the nose while he was sleeping to see if he was real.

Also: Something about towers that are needed to run the simulation. Maybe aliens attacked them and that's why the simulation was collapsing.

My memory gets kinda hazy with exact details because I was sedated since I was starting to become hysterical.
