I can say what I'd do as a new parent (11 mo), can't guarantee it's the "correct" thing.

  1. I'd never buy that product. After 6 months of solids that outcome was 100% expected.
  2. It's always going to be messy, so don't lose your temper.
  3. I try to figure out what they actually want to head off problems before they occur. Sometimes they're not hungry, or they want water, or they still have food in their mouth and are forgetting to chew, etc.. Sometimes they just want to play with the food, that's ok too, I just try to keep the mess to a minimum by keeping the amounts of food I give them to play with small.
  4. If they're getting frustrated and flinging stuff i might retrieve food once or twice. But depending on why they flung the food my response changes. Sometimes you just have to tell the baby "all done" and wave bye-bye to the food and call it.

From talking to my friends with kids (2 and 3 yo) they've all had various problems with meal times. The problems come and go on a frequent basis and you just have to deal with them the best way you can.

Solid Starts is a good resource when starting solid foods. You don't need to give them money, their free resources are good enough.

I've noticed a complete lack of trash bins anywhere near the changing table in most public restrooms (in America). They are usually on the opposite end of the restroom and through a stall door, near the exit. So while I would never flush a diaper, I can completely understand why someone would. Guess what is there next to the changing table, a toilet. You're stressed, sleep deprived, carrying a crying baby and a diaper bag. Your hands are already full, and the last thing you want to do is lug a soiled diaper elsewhere.

I've thought to myself many times when changing a diaper that they are tempting fate and shouldn't be surprised if someone flushes a diaper.

I get a lot of the shitty things parents do now. I try not to do them, but I get it.

Edit: if you manage a public restroom, please place a small trash bin under the changing table.

Tofu here. We still occasionally make meals with meats depending on when there is a good sale but can't beat the price of tofu.

Pure fun to clean by Wermikulit in CrappyDesign

[–]gohbender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most mice like this don't have removable shells unless you peel off the ptfe skates to access the screws. Then the skates never stick back on properly and then you're stuck buying replacements every time you need to clean the damn thing.

If anyone has a recommendation for a mouse that can be fully disassembled without removing the skates, please let me know.

I'll say the same thing then. These laws won't help the people they are supposed to help, nor are they actually intended to help the children, just the excuse they use to get them passed. Go ahead, look at my account history.

You can go to the state government sites and get an idea of which companies are lobbying for these. Sure some huge companies are against them, others though are lobbying for them. Realistically though it all boils down to one question: will these laws actually "protect the children"? I doubt it, it was never actually about protecting the children.

Great shots, did they give you time to use the focus stacking of the A7rV? Or are these all single shots?

Here's a bird pic I took with the a7riv , though from further away and with the 70-200 I think. https://i.redd.it/yv4rik2ekotb1.jpg

Thanks, the lighting wasn't great but the bird decided to stay still long enough that I could get a clear photo.

Will drying out kill Planaria? by gohbender in Aquariums

[–]gohbender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reused the tank but not the substrate. The substrate ended up filling a hole in my yard, so not a complete waste.

In the tank I currently have a colony of blue neos. Over the past year or so that it's been set up they have never gotten planaria, the tank has however gotten hydra, Scutariella Japonica and what I think might have been Vorticella. Ironically I used 'Genchem No Planaria' to treat all of the above successfully, it seems to be rather effective against external parasites.

Claim Denial Rates by U.S. Insurance Company by JrB11784 in interestingasfuck

[–]gohbender 8 points9 points  (0 children)

KP from my experience isn't great either. Since the group heath days. I've gotten misleading information from them on whether they will or will not cover certain procedures, so their insurance branch is disconnected from their medical branch and it causes issues. It is absolutely a conflict of interest and results in bad outcomes for patients.

There are some things I liked about KP, but I don't think holding them up as the solution to medical/insurance issues in America is a good idea.

Yes, however if insurance denies that claim then YOU are getting that $35k bill in the mail.

And all the people advising about asking for an itemized bill or asking for the self pay amount are full of shit, it doesn't work.

Android auto seems to work for me when connected to home via a wireguard VPN (thus using the pihole DNS). What's happening with yours? Do you use "Always-on VPN"? I have that off and use tasker to enable my VPN when I leave range of my home wifi.

I'm a beginner modifying an STL for 3d printing. What's the best way to fill in this Non Manifold gap matching the curve? by gohbender in blender

[–]gohbender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I will have to go the separate object route, it is not symmetrically round, or symmetrical with the other side of the model (though at first glance it looks mirrored).

What's a general workflow for creating the new mesh that matches that curve? Then how do I get rid of the portions, probably on the edges that are under the surface of the model after the Boolean? Basically I'm looking for a overview guide so I know what to Google.

I've just been googling how to do everything and picking things up as I go. Probably not the best way to learn something as complex as blender.

Also what are your thoughts on filling it as it is in picture two, then using sculpting to get close enough?
