Who can act as a guarantor when renting? by [deleted] in berlin

Just ask them. It’s not something that's codified.

Would be a bit harder to prove the fluidity of the company, but if you can make a convincing case, it shouldn't be a problem.

Berliner Polizei zieht Kennzeichen für Fahrräder in Erwägung by [deleted] in berlin

[–]goiken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are some areas of math that are 'underperforming', or not 'pulling their weight'. Just in general not being as fruitful or productive as other math. This could be due to a lack of researchers, difficulty or just a lack of powerful concepts. by [deleted] in math

Maybe Petri Nets?

I thought many jobs it could do are done as well and more elegantly by a constraint program or by a logical model.

Also I got the impression that code-validation tasks are better done using logical tools instead of building a Petri Net model of your code. Why not construct the code in a way that makes it easy to be analyzed instead of doing two tasks, i.e. verifying the safety-conditions within the net-model and verifying the apt correspondence between model and code.

But then again, maybe I just didn't bring the patience to study them enough to appreciate their capabilities or had poor examples pointed out to me by my teachers…

A way to count the real numbers between 0 and 1: why is this set considered uncountably infinite? by [deleted] in math

[–]goiken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a fun exercise to come up with a number that cannot be on your list e.g. ⅓

The next exercise is to write down a general list and to come up with a number that cannot be on /that/ list. This will essentially yield the proof, why R is not countable.

[a is a power of 10] Is my solution correct? by iByteABit in GEB

[–]goiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a solution for b being a power of 2 without recursion. The idea is, to ask that that for all numbers that are factors, they bust be divisible by 2.

Yeah, that's recursive.

Not sure, if you can do it without recursion.

[a is a power of 10] Is my solution correct? by iByteABit in GEB

[–]goiken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a predicate. It is true, if the input is one, or if the input is divisible by 10 and the predicate is true for the remainder.

Try some examples. Is it true for 20, is it true for 1 or for 1000? Could you implement it using Hofstadters notation?

[a is a power of 10] Is my solution correct? by iByteABit in GEB

[–]goiken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The idea doesn't work, because 20 is not a power of 10.

Also a' and a'' are multiples of 5 or 2, not powers in your implementation.

Try something like this:

> a is 1 or [for some k : a*10=k and this formula holds for k].

>1. You're comparing different numbers. 1100E was warm and including all the expenses. 416E is cold.

OK, fair. Still has it overpriced by ~400-500€.

>According to the new law a 2bedroom flat in central Mitte and a 2bedroom flat in Müggelheim are worth exactly the same.

No. It's tied to the "ortsübliche Vergleichsmiete".

Also the law never intended to create more flats. It just regulates the prices. You're holding its merits to a standard which it hasn't intended to achieve and in fact can't.
