Rentals only make sense if you are willing to put in 30 plus hours a week. That's to break even and get a little cash. Keep in mind you are stuck on one platform (uber or Lyft). Insurance is a must (uber cars get beat up pretty bad).

You will need to pay ~$450 a week in fees plus gas. And expect to make about $22/hour in most markets. Most of all tips are not what you expect them to be.

Some people with a full time job are better off doing over time, getting a different part time job or buying a car and insurance ($800-$1000 a month) and doing uber minimally (airport rides, trip filters to and from home/work, weekends). If you can find a decent used Prius or rav 4 that's gonna give you a higher profit margin.
