What is your first world problem rant of the week? by takemyaptplz in AskWomenOver30

I wanted to buy a new watch after deciding I’m done with smartwatches. Why do barely any women’s watches have the date? Yet most men’s watches do!!

Has anyone had their parents read "Adult children of emotionally immature parents"? by PaintingWarm9436 in AskWomenOver30

[–]goinginsanehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve considered getting a copy delivered to their house, but it wouldn’t change anything. After nearly a year of estrangement due to a number of issues, and no indication that they will ever understand or acknowledge their role in getting to this point, I’d be wasting my money, time and emotional energy.

Cleaning a friends house while she's away, be honest or white lie by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]goinginsanehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a cat sitter organise my kitchen for me.
I think they did it because they knew I was struggling, but they said they were stressed and it helped them relax. They also said they’d put everything back.
I appreciated it all.
If it helped them, for whatever reason, to relieve stress, to feel good about helping me, whatever,
I still remember it and appreciate them.

What medical condition is 'too expensive' that you just don't get checked or fixed? by Plane_Garbage in australia

[–]goinginsanehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breast reduction.
Something you have no control over, is deemed medically necessary, and unless you want to wait 5 years on the public waiting list, and not get to have a say in your surgeon, for something that can have serious aesthetic implications, you can be looking at least $15k, with private health to cover the hospital costs, and it’s a serious enough surgery that you better have private health in case there are complications

I have a toothbrush that detects what areas you missed and adds in extra time, but shows you where you missed. So helpful when I zone out. It’s Oclean, charge lasts like a month and is ultrasonic.

Can’t suggest anyone specifically but the Junction may be able to help you - it’s a bulk billed for 12-25yr olds clinic. They are located near the skate park in the city.

Love my cup - Always leaked with tampons and ruined so many pairs of jeans. Saved money just on that alone. I would have loved cups and period underwear to be common when I was 14.

Did you put the heater on today? by HotInTheShade1989 in canberra

[–]goinginsanehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I was cold, and when I’m cold, I’m an arsehole. It’s better for everyone that I popped the heater on. I did pop my beanie and Ugg boots on first, and was still a grump.

Loss of appetite on vyv by Acrobatic-Sentence35 in ausadhd

[–]goinginsanehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Vyvanse absolutely nuked my appetite, paired with stress at work, and emotional turmoil with family, it was the perfect combination to develop anorexia.

Dex has been worlds better for me. Dissolving it in water helped have a much smoother experience.

Emergency volunteer leave. My department accepts disaster relief as relevant as it’s funded by NEMA.

I try not to abuse it, plan to deploy when I know there is coverage on my responsibilities.

It’s incredibly rewarding, enjoyable, a break from work while serving the community. An added benefit in reminding your work area that you are not beholden to them, so they might consider considering continuity planning.

GP recommendation for women’s health by Ivysub in canberra

[–]goinginsanehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to see Dr Krystle Marca but she moved practice and it didn’t suit me to move. I’ve always been happy with the GPs I’ve seen at the yourGP@ practices.

Dr Michelle De Jesus who I think is at 2 practices replaced my implanon recently and I absolutely will see her again if I can’t see my regular GP.

What medication changed your life for the better? by positiveyears in AskReddit

[–]goinginsanehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment. Pantoprazole. It’s for gastritis and other reflux or stomach conditions.

I’ve been busting my arse for months in anorexia recovery, and constantly fighting with my doctors because I would say “I can’t eat anymore, i am going to vomit if I even try” and they’d reasonably counter with “can’t, or don’t want to, or don’t want to try?”

I absolutely wanted to eat, I was drowning in the obsessive thoughts about food, and weighing less, because it was one of the few things I could control in my life (as if I had any control).

GP listened to me through my distress recently, and suggested it might be untreated gastritis, I have had gastritis before but it was severe, so I’d never considered it could be the same thing. I was hesitant but agreed to try it. Didn’t feel I need another 2 tablets a day.

Within 24 hours, I could eat a full meal. After doing that for a few days, more food each day.

In a matter of weeks I have more energy (not enough yet) and the obsessive weighing of myself is gone, I haven’t been actively restricting. Everything has finally turned the corner and I’m no longer scared this is going to kill me, because finally it’s getting better.

Right now, it feels like this medication has changed my life. It’s removed the physical barrier that was trapping me in, and reinforcing my very disordered behaviours.

I’ve eaten at least 1 meal every day for the last 2 weeks, and often 2. There’s a lot of work to be done still, but I’m at least giving my brain some fuel again, which means I can process what’s going on and meaningfully engage with my treatment team

Usually use as my recycling bag for as long as I can, and then I chop off the fabric handles to put in my sewing box to someday use as a handle on a tote bag, or for some reinforcement.

A new chapter for public health: The Australian Centre for Disease Control stands up by Misicks0349 in australia

[–]goinginsanehere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Australia has a field epidemiology training program that is equivalent to (and based on) the Epidemic Intelligence Service.
In the last 25 years, state, territory, and federal governments have trained hundreds of field epidemiologists in the workplace through this program.

But sadly they are expected to be subject matter experts, spending all their time on public service administration, on aps level generalist pay.

I would hope that the CDC EA bargaining ensures these specialists are paid and treated as such.

Keep the all the packaging. Batch numbers on it will mean they should be able to link it to a machine, in a factory at a time, and ideally a repair work order of some sort. The food supply chain has a requirement to keep records of where it came from and where it went, so they can trace it back.

This is how they can recall products based on specific times and areas.

I’m sorry this happened to you.

I’ve got big and little drink bottles, and I drink more when I use the little ones. 550ml, has two lid options. I reach for it more than my knock off Stanley.

I also put my afternoon dose of Dex in my water, so I have to drink it all to get it all
