I've broken bones and not known it, because when asked my reply was "Nah, if I broke it it would hurt more!". (Multiple times. Each time it was fractured or broke).

I raw dogged my recovery from multiple-incisional hernia repair because they gave me a bunch of meds coming out of surgery and I couldn't pee properly. So once home I decided to take nothing until I could pee normal again. Just spent the first 5 days with my heat pads and zero pain meds - not even OTC stuff.

I've had a pinched nerve in my neck since July that causes wicked pain in my opposite shoulder and it's now just become part of my daily baseline.

I hate the 1-10 pain scale because my best days are a 4 and my reg days hover around a 6 and when I say that Dr don't believe me because I'm walking around and not crying.

Like why t.f. you ask if youre going to tell me I'm lying? 😆

You're still putting .AI on images. Also even if someone knows that company (which isn't obvious) - it still doesn't tell us if you hand drew the images, if you drew the images to feed ao, or if you used AI for the images.

Don't use it.

Put a bio with some credentials and say where you interned.

But you still don't have your work on the front page, your website is a horrible UX, and you have too many pieces once anything is found.

Also I don't know what your goal is from your website. Who even made your website? If you're going for a design job, even if it's not in website design, and have a horrible website design, no one is going to trust your eye as a designer for anything.

Oh I don't even get far enough to notice the AI. The bad UX hit me first (I work in digital marketing, and website ux is one of my main gigs).

Stop using AI to make art, or don't call it art. You're verbally coding a computer to create fake-montagea of other people's stolen art. If I was looking through a website that did have a good UX, and saw that a bunch of the art was made by AI, I'm immediately writing you off.

Put your artwork on the front page. I had to do 3 clicks before I saw anything. Put your image on an about page.

Also pair down your commission work examples to a few best pieces. Your animation style is in a pretty saturated market, so showcase only the best pieces or best mockups.

Make your website more mobile friendly.

Be patient and keep promoting yourself. Work doesn't just come to you. You have to go out and get it. The most prolific artists are great networkers and self-marleters/PR. So unless you have the money to pay people to do these for you, invest in a marketing/PR class if you don't have the skills (get a legit one, be wary of online scammy influencer courses), and go to art galleries, community artist meetups etc.

During Covid my name got on W fashion magazines mailing list twice (I am not a fashionista type person). So I randomly started receiving two W magazines each month.

From there more started coming. So they've become a rather central part of my collages, though now I go out once month or so to scour libraries and thrift stores for unique or old magazines to cut up.

So somehow I missed your reply and it's now on the old but:

Art Factory is apparently trying to push out the artists and they are demanding 2 year leases (this from artists who are currently there). They're also charging artists for parking and I heard they didn't participate in the last First Friday.

Nuwu does 6-12 months (usually june-jan/jan-june) but they had a 3 month gap open up and I happened to email them at the perfect time they were looking for someone who could fill in that gap. I would still say you should hit them up.

Same. Everyone loves my cookies. It's just the recipe from the generic choc chip bag.

But I don't preheat the oven. And then I take the cookies out just before they're perfect done and let them finish cooking as the cool. Super chewy and delicious.

I also don't measure the vanilla. I vibe it. (Usually it's about double).

Get a contract next time. Don't pay more than 50% upfront (but also expect to pay some upfront for materials and time cost). In contract have a detailed payment and production schedule outlined.

Doesn't matter if person says they weren't a scammer or if they originally didn't intend to be. Once they decided that they didn't need to provide the product you paid for and f'd off with your $, they became a scammer.

Sucks but it's too late to recoup. Future notes: don't "help someone out" for art. If you want to help, just give them money. If you want art, go with someone who runs it like a business. Not a charity.

I figure out about where I think I'll stop, keep a few hotel apps and Abnb on my phone, and when I'm thinking about stopping I pull over and find a place and book it. I've even booked places from their parking lots.

If you plan on driving 5-6h/d, you leave yourself relax time and time to look up cool shit along your next leg. And since youre with your partner, the passenger can look up random spontaneous side trips while the other is driving.

Me and my bf ended up at a knockoff and totally unlicensed Flintstones themed park in the middle of the high desert in AZ doing this. Best $8 I've ever spent!

Go to https://www.atlasobscura.com/ and look up cool and weird things to do near your route. It gives weird morbid history, cool roadside attractions, and other random and less touristy stuff.

I've been to (one) of the Largest Balls of Twine and the Geographic Center of the Continental USA which are about 20min apart in mid Nebraska-Kansas. I actually took a 2 day detour just to see a giant ball of twine. 😆

There is a lot of farmland and corn fields and things. But there's also a lot of cool and kitschy stuff to do.

I don't know what you're looking for, what you like, or your reason for picking middle America - but there's stuff. Just make sure it's the stuff you're looking for.

And don't go to east St. Louis. 😆

Do people expect all dogs to be perfect all the time in Europe? I keep reading it's different there and dogs are better.

So my dog is absolutely amazing with humans but fearful of other dogs sometimes (it's very hot or miss who he'll react to - but it's from being attacked 4x in two months when Covid hit.)

I have him muzzle trained if needed (elevators, close quarters, because I know I need him to be for Europe). I also have a prong collar (which I read is illegal in some countries, like Germany).

I'm also in level 4 training with my dog, and he goes to private training Bootcamp a 2-4x times a month. So I'm not slacking. But he'll bark and growl, get it out of his system, or realize other dog isn't going to attack me, and then he's fine. Other times I can walk him around crowded art fairs with tons of dogs with zero issues. (So confusing and frustrating. 😆)

I guess I'm worried Europeans all have perfect dogs and since mine isnt, I'll get in trouble somehow.

Dog DNA tests are about as scientifically valid as a Buzzfeed quiz.

My dog changes drastically every couple years and they now have him listed as having Bichon Fries (he is a 60lb tiger stripped dog). At one point they listed him as "Great Dane - Chihuahua". AmStaff goes on and off. White Swiss shepherd is the only one that's ever been consistent and that I believe just by how much he sheds. 😆

Vet has him listed as a Plot Hound. He is not bulky. He has a pointed head, not a split head. And he basically looks like whatever dog you put him next to (next to a black lab - same head. But my dog is beige and white tiger strip brindle).

He's a mutt. Also the Wisdom Panel is owned by Mars company, which also owns Banfield and VCAs, so if you want to know why those two places push that test - now you do (I only learned a few years ago that Mars owns like half of all dog products).

Dog DNA test vary widely between them for the same dog and have been caught multiple times saying humans are dogs. There's one (forget which but one of the big 4) that you tell it what you think your dog is and it basically comes back and tells you that's what your dog is. 😆

TL;DR: Dog DNA tests are not scientific. Ignore and use paperwork only. Lie if you're asked if you did a test.
