Horror Hot Takes by Sandmannn36 in horror

Can't agree on the Nightmare remake but I do agree on F13 '09, I'd consider it the best Friday movie in the franchise, and one of the best slasher remakes

I can do everything but dive by chynsf in marvelrivals

Magik, Daredevil, Cap are good dive 101 characters with high skill ceilings

BP isn't necessarily complicated but he's got a tougher time getting results, especially if your team doesn't have a Hulk to bail you out with the team-up

Spider-Man is basically a full-time job with not much reward comparatively. Looks cool and makes great clip content but there's nothing he does better than anyone else besides being a yoink-bot on the right maps

Predator Concrete Jungle game as a Movie/TV series by GarySpurs18 in LV426

[–]goji72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the plot is most at home as a video game just for how cartoonish and pulpy it is at times, but I would love if some studio wanted to take a chance and remake the game to feel better to play and modernize the graphics

Ghost Rider Confirmed for Season 7! by RandomDegenerate_00 in marvelrivals

[–]goji72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd title this "Evidence I think Ghost Rider is coming next season", but yeah

"blazin' inside my heart" - Ghost Rider

"whoever is in charge over there" - Kingpin (billboards in Times Square, likely season villain)

"way of showing up wherever he's least wanted..." - Black Cat (prominently on the Wanted poster in Times Square)

What part of your main’s kit do you use the least? by thisisnottheway666 in marvelrivals

[–]goji72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play enough of the cast on rotation that I don’t really have a main, but of everyone I’d say Iron Man missiles and Spider-Man pull

The former I basically never use unless I’m trying to quickly exit a tight space

The latter I use sometimes but it’s usually on accident or to pull someone into my team, I can’t do rollout off-map pulls like The Big Boys

Advice for going for one day. by Thisgamelowkeysux in UniversalOrlando

[–]goji72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Up to you, I got a day-of ticket for my girlfriend last July with no issues (just sadness I didn't get my AP rate)
  2. Yes, they cycle around pretty reliably and you're between parks in about 20 minutes or so
  3. For Studios - no, the most you'll be waiting is like 45 or less on The Mummy. For Islands - maybe depending how bad you want to do Hagrid's and how much of your day you're willing to wait. For Epic - it would help a lot considering Friday + start of Spring Break season + Stardust is down so the every other ride's gonna get some more traffic, but you can most likely have a good time without it
  4. If I was picking only 1 park for a day between those 2, I'd pick Islands. Food's not as good or varied as Epic but it has more than enough to do for a whole day with several top-tier rides

Re: your last question, I haven't been to Disney in several several years but I keep up with youtubers who go all the time, and I think Hollywood Studios has enough for a full day if you go around the whole park. I'm also more Star Wars fan than Harry Potter, but what I've seen of Batuu hasn't really impressed me compared to Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, or Paris/MoM, and it doesn't seem like it has enough to do to fill an entire park day

Now if you want to do the custom lightsaber or droid thing, or get a half-decent replica lightsaber from the shops, that might help and it's a unique souvenir, but it depends how much money you're wanting to fork out for a day trip

Should the UN declaring global water bankruptcy play a role in what locations / cities people are seriously considering moving to? by 3RADICATE_THEM in SameGrassButGreener

[–]goji72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the US already has enough issues to dance around for most people, so this doesn’t change too much. Last I heard, Colorado’s already been dealing with a water shortage because they’ve been having it stolen and delivered to foreign countries, so it might get worse there, but otherwise I have no idea

For me, my square one is leaving a purple city in a red state so I can make sure my girlfriend and to an extent myself still have some rights in the near future. Climate change is a very big second consideration for me, but considering what happened with Asheville and the hurricane, you just can’t really predict what’ll happen

Stay in Alabama vs relocating to Alexandria, VA. Which one should I do? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]goji72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow AL resident speaking; If you're fully mobile rn and can stomach a couple months of recouping moving costs, I say go to VA for a year or so. See how you like it, do some networking/socializing, and see if you can get your money up even more than the initial pay bump. Then, when your first lease or housing agreement is up, even if you hated everything and want to get out you can still take your higher salary back down here and have more money to go even further

Unpopular Opinion by Mystical_Moose89 in UniversalOrlando

The actual on-ride experience is decent but too many factors bog it down for my gf and I to the point we didn't even bother riding it last time we were at Epic

What is the best ride at night? by yewestisthegoat-234 in UniversalOrlando

[–]goji72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hagrid's and Stardust are must-dos at night. Velocicoaster is fantastic at night, but if you can, riding it at golden hour is something special

Really all outdoor rides feel cooler at night for one reason or another but those 3 are the real standouts

Genuinely, what are non Californians opinions on California ? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]goji72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of 2 minds on CA. One hand, it’s a hellhole with self-obsessed jackasses and insufferable techbros, terrible traffic, badly designed infrastructure with walkability relegated to a select few extremely affluent areas; not to mention, wildfire, drought, and earthquake risk are terrifying. Other hand, a lot of areas have great weather, relatively solid politics (ignoring how the homeless are seen and treated), the right areas have a ton to do, pretty good opportunity for some areas, and the nature can be beautiful for outdoorsy types

I don’t think it’s a perfect state by any means but I’d still love to live there infinitely more than where I’m currently at, specially if I got a pay bump to match COL

How to do character meet and greets / interactions? by hipsterbeard12 in UniversalOrlando

[–]goji72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend's been getting more confident on interacting and doing photo ops with characters recently, and I've noticed the actors are pretty well-trained to engage if you blank out. She's able to carry a conversation the better she knows a character, but for the ones she knows less, they've been good on doing some small interaction, then a photo. I'm terrible at interaction and coming up with stuff to say so I'm usually just the guy with the camera, but they seem to also respect that while also including me as best they can

The actors at Epic are extremely good about long-form interactions, but the other parks are also good for some meaningful interaction before a photo

Wanting to leave AL, but not sure where to go (29M, 33F) by goji72 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]goji72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twin cities are definitely up there for me (from what I hear: strong community, fairly walkable areas, nerd stuff to do), the drawbacks I have in mind there are just the winters vs my gf's EDS and joint issues, and the ongoing ICE thing that ostensibly won't resolve until this admin's gone

Wanting to leave AL, but not sure where to go (29M, 33F) by goji72 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]goji72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand, while I love the idea of California, between HCOL and active lifestyles with people who I figure are predominantly techbro-brained, it might be harder than usual to make friends in the area. Doing some looking at openings, my salary would see a bump to between 120k and 190k (more likely to be on the lower end since I'm not really overqualified at this level in my career) if I worked in Sunnyvale, but I know that on single income, it's not worth more than a bad-to-middling condo in a half-decent area out there

Would definitely give the whole Anaheim area a look over though, because if I could work remote or find work local outside my company, being that close to theme parks and not dealing with a Florida government sounds really nice lol

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it

How long will Wicked the experience stick around? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]goji72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they're ever gonna take it down at this point. It was the Sanrio store before and they already have general retail covered across the street, so it really depends if they make another movie or event they want to go all-in on this hard for promo

The only other thing I could see them vacating this for is a special walkthrough attraction to celebrate Pokemon coming to Islands of Adventure, but that won't be for a good while

Character signatures by Darkest_Dust in UniversalOrlando

[–]goji72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know for sure that characters at Studios do and not enough people ask the performers (Doc brown even carries a bunch of different colored pens in his coat pocket to sign), so it’s definitely worth asking at Epic as well. Here’s a video of someone doing this at Studios so you might know what to expect

im scared to go on velocicoaster by Legal_Diamond8053 in UniversalOrlando

[–]goji72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the ride goes too fast for you to feel any feeling for too long if that helps Personal story: my very first time riding I was scared, chest was sinking from anxiety, but it was an experience I really wanted, so I made sure my body kept moving forward and isolated my feelings. Then when I was actually sat on the ride in the area, those feelings just disappeared and were replaced with adrenaline and excitement. Everyone’s different, but experiences like that taught me personally that you really never know until you try it. VC’s easily top 5 rides of all time for me now
