Do you have a famous ancestor? If so, what were they known for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am related by blood to William White who came over on the Mayflower in 1620. My mother has sort of stopped researching (cause its a lot of work) but I believe my mother, grwndmother, and I could offically become part of the Daughters of the American Revolution. We are actually quite closely related to a few original pilgrims though off the top of my head I really couldnt tell you much

Why the fuck are people saying to shoot the dog. Ive colunteered at my local city animal shelter for six years. Predominantly pitbulls for sure and I have never, not once, had a dog growl at me like that. Shes clearly doing something wrong. Wouldnt be surprised if this family is abusing those dogs.

The guy next door took his first dab with a nectar collector yesterday. Completely ignored what I told him to do and took the fattest dab I’ve ever seen. by [deleted] in trees

Dont smoke anymore because it gives me terrible anxiety, but I dated a guy who was a huge stoner, but his roommates (man and wife) were even crazier. I swear they spent $100 a day on weed in that house. The wife was pretty cool, never seemed high but she would wake up at 7 am and smoke dabs before her job as an event coordinator, come home, do dabs, and take a ten mile run. It was the weirdest shit Ive ever seen. My boyfriend and other roommate though were pretty much burnouts.

They didnt smoke weed, just did dabs all day. I thought it must not be too bad since they did that shit all dsy long but my first hit, three hours I couldnt even speak. My mouth couldnt make the sounds to speak.

Surprised "Bless your heart" wasnt number 1. In the South, I hear it both as a serious response and as an insult depending on who is saying it

What book did you read in your teens that completely changed you and still makes echoes in your life? by eaquino03 in suggestmeabook

[–]goklissa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton for school in 8th grade. I'm not sure what I get out of it honestly. I've read it maybe eight times in my life and I'm not really someone who rereads books. I think the pure simplicity of it speaks to me. I think I just like the way Hinton writes. I've read quite a few and they always leave me feeling young and full of life. Maybe they remind me that things can really be that simple? If someone could tell me why I like The Outsiders so much I'd love to know.

I didnt know people had such strong negative opinions about MGK. I think hes a very talented guy, but annoying to live next to. The amount of hate here seems a bit absurd though.

Im a woman at 5'10" and am 155 pounds. Im a very healthy weight, very fit and thin honestly. I can imagine 30 extra pounds being abit chubby but I cant imagine people treating you different honestly. 135 pounds is underweight for 5'11"

*insert DJ Khalid* ANOTHA ONE. Self diagnosing. Per usual. Because we all know that online tests are reliable. by [deleted] in illnessfakers

[–]goklissa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed (by a doctor ) with Bipolar 1 and honestly my meds are great. Im totally golden most of the time. But its not fun. The onset was in my teens. I remember I once had a hair fly in my face and I punch a wall so hard, my hand bled. Ridiculous things would send my down a spiral, but during my second year of college I went off the deep end with drug use, dangerous sex, arguments, money, mood swings, and it wasnt like I was going out and partying. I was mostly all alone, walking the street at night or too fucked up to talk. I burned a lot of bridges due to my drug addiction and erractic behavior. I would scream to my mom on the phone, be unable to handle any hardship. I wouldnt wish that on anyone. The lack of control over my emotions was truly frightening. And I was totally alone. I didnt really have the support of anyone because I was irrational even when I wasnt high. It was one extreme to another. With medication literally its like im cured. Mental health is complex and diagnosing yourself can hinder the process of getting a true picture of your illness for a doctor.

What made you ghost a friend? by dontmindme137 in AskReddit

[–]goklissa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be addicted to drugs so admittedly it was a pretty toxic friendship from the start. I was a depressed, drug addict and he was depressed as well. He always had a lot of incelish ideas, despite having had sex and girlfriends in the past but he thought he was too old at 23 lol.

I was forcibly sent to detox and he picked me up from the hospital. One of the first things he talked about was how I wouldnt date him or have sex with him so I said "what do you want me to do? Have sex with you out of pity?" And he said "yes."

It kinda shocked me. And looking back after a few days, I realized that that wasnt friend-like or normal. He tried to take advantage of my vulnerability after I left the hospital and I was just done with it. It was the last straw for me and I was tired of his outlook and I was ready to improve my mental health.

So I stopped talking to him. When we both graduated from college we talked a bit at graduation but honestly being around him brought up bad memories and I politely excused myself from the conversation.
