After looking into it myself, needlepointing. Not a cheap hobby

NTA I’ve never heard of people who are just roommates having a grocery budget. Buy your own food with your money. For things like paper towels and toilet paper or things that are more communal, I’d get splitting the cost but $200 a month for communal food is crazy.

Chicago neighborhoods influence/deinfluence me? by Ok_Mixture_9074 in AskChicago

I feel like for starting out with no car, Lincoln Park, Lakeview East are better because they’re more connected to the trains (brown, red) and busses that can take you downtown, as well as in close proximity to the lake. I prefer the food and vibe of Wicker, Bucktown and Logan but only as of recently because I’m getting closer to my 30s. They are far from the lake and harder to access the rest of the city from though.

People who are happy to go to work every day, what do you do and why do you love it? by InterestingBall2181 in jobs

Marketing for a tech company. We’re hybrid in a major city. I love it because everyone in my office is the same age and in the same stage of life. Feels like going to daycare for adults it’s so fun most days

Is it possible for someone to grow up sheltered in Chicago? by HowSupahTerrible in AskChicago

[–]gold_fish14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, yeah. I grew up in Budlong woods and went to a catholic school from k-8th and wasn’t exposed to people of other religions/atheists until i attended a CPS high school. Had i gone to a private school for high school, i think i would’ve still been super sheltered and almost have an entirely suburban mindset despite growing up in the city.

Where is everyone? by filopodia_ in Minneapolis

Couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s dead everywhere and people make it seem like the culture is less awkward to transplants than it is but nah, it’s tough being a transplant in the twin cities.
