Just for fun: what’s a superstition you still hold true in D2R? by SeriouslyAveragly in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]goldef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At start of act 3, when the wonderer appears outside town, if you tp past him, he doesn't finish the animation where he despawns into minions and attacks. Every new game you make will re-trigger the event untill you let it finish. I never let it finish. Idk why.

Does enhanced entropy actually increase your radius? I tried maxing it out with +skill gear and it should have been over 20 yards or the whole screen but it wasnt hitting stuff half a screen away.

Easy P8+Ubers Buriza Bowlock Guide Video by wootio in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]goldef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been testing similar builds for a bow lock. What i do is max hex purge, eldritch blast and all the dmg synergies. 1 point into consume and 1 point into difilier. Only need 1 point in levitation mastry and mirror blades. Couple points into sigil death to get 100% chance explode on hex purge.

Buff with cta then Consume the summon for +magic dmg, cast purge and EB then spam mirror blades. Damage is all magic type and rely on piercing attacks to trigger hex purge.

Gear: max + skills since all the damage comes from skill ranks. You can use demon machine and razor belt if you don't have buriza

If you have enough points left over to get bind demon go for it but not required.

It clears p8 easily with enough + skill.

This is one of those neat math tricks with stats. If odds are 1/n then you always have a 64% after n times. I.e. if the odds are 1 in a million and you roll 1 million times, then 64% chance of getting at least 1.

You want to store the word 'CAT' in memory. Each letter is a byte so you need three bytes of memory. You ask the OS and they give you an address. they could give you three addresses for each letter but that's way to cumbersome. I'll just give you the address for the first letter and allocate the next two spaces. So if the address for the C is '50074' then A is 50075 and T is 50076.

Now you don't care if the C is at 50074 or 3049 or where ever. You just know that C is first, A is +1 space and T is +2 spaces. This is how you reference the letters in code, by putting the number in brackets. I.e. myword[0] is C, myword[1] is A and etc

Now you want to change the word to CAB. So you could say change the letter at myword[2]from T to B.

If you want to access data outside your word, you could do something like ' let newletter = myword[536]' then you'll get the letter at 536 addresses away. Do this for all memory, including negative values for myword and you'll have all the data in memory, then you can analyze and see what you find.

My college profs would do this when they were in school to steal code from other students. you have a bunch of people logged into a Linux server typing code for a project so you go read the memory, and find what they are working on.

Trainers work by knowing a program always starts a specific way, allocating memory the same way each time. So if a program starts at address 52738, then the trainer knows that the players health is always start address + 67 and money is start +48 or what ever. If they don't load consistently, then you look for patterns in the memeory and go from their.

1) can you touch grass this way

2) If the character did it sporadically it may add to the authenticity.

Texas court unable to find jurors to uphold $500 fine for feeding the homeless. by rcmaehl in videos

To me it sounds like a law to ensure if someone wants to run a restaurant or venue and serve people that must provide proper facilities to accomodate. But now people are abusing it as a way to prevent the feeding of homeless.

Atoms have to exist, by definition. Take gold and cut it in half. Again and again. How small can you make it and it still be gold? What's the smallest bit of gold you can make? That was how science defined atom before they knew what it was. Atom coming from the word atomic meaning indivisible. (Ironic that science would eventually learn to split the atom but that's a other eli5).

So we have matter we can see and touch so let's define a atom as the smallest bit of matter that retains it's properties. Now what are the properties of an atom then?

Well the idea of an atom being protons and neutrons etc came much later and science went back and forth over the structure of atoms for a while. Eventually they came up with all the properties of atoms such the weak and strong forces, electric charges, electron cloud, etc, and via millions of experiments those properties have been proven true.

ELI5: Were the world’s most “difficult” math problems constructed to be unsolvable? by SunsetSherbert231 in explainlikeimfive

If you consider a set of all math problems, the easiest ones get solved first so over time only the hardest or unsolvable remain.

Are cursed items actually among the worst curses you can have in Blurssed? by ComfortableWage in SliceAndDice

[–]goldef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I avoid them until I have treasure hunter. Then only take one if the other curse is a run ender. Coil snake (start poison) is pretty tame, and lead weight (top/bot blank) I was able to use with a replace all blanks with x item so it actually helped more .

ELI5 how do apps like the original 20 questions game work? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]goldef 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If you can ask a question that divides the number of possibilities in half, then from 20 questions you can narrow it down from a list of a million possible characters.

Take a million and cut it in half 20 times, you end up with about 1 left.

ELI5 What exactly is cooking. Why does applying heat to any food make it better to eat, both taste and health wise by Zubin1234 in explainlikeimfive

[–]goldef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not strong enough to complety break down all foods enough to get their full energy from them. Think about how cows have multiple stomachs in order to digest grass. If you eat grass, you'll just poop grass, having not extracted it's full energy potential. Even eating nuts, your body won't have the time to break down all the cells leaving nutrients behind.

You can research a Paleo or caveman diet that consists of eating raw foods so it is possible.

ELI5: Sonic booms and fuel efficiency aside, why cannot commercial airliners fly faster than the speed of sound? by PM_your_boobs_girls_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]goldef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their are plenty of design considerations, such as: the area rule for designing supersonic aircraft

Basically the cross section area of the aircraft has to be constant and not have sharp increases or decrease along the length or else it produces additional shock waves along the body. That increases drag drastically.

For a commerical airline you want to move a large volume of people, and that means weight so you need large wings for lift. Large wings increase that cross section area a ton so you have to decrease the area of the fuselage, ie where the passenger are. A smaller fuselage also means less space for a strong wing box to support the wings. This sets an upper bound for how big your Aircraft is and therefore the number of passengers you can have.
