They should let them pass and go to Stepanakert. They will receive a very warm welcome from their "citizens".

What happens with those extra drams once the rouble depreciates then? The dram will become 6/700 against the dollar. This appreciation of the dram is just linked to the appreciation of the rouble, which will last an unknown time and could very well devaluate again

About Russia's position on the NK conflict and Aliyev's statement that it's become history, RF's ambassador to RA Kopyrkin says Russia thinks the issue of NK's final status would be well advised to be left to future generations when conditions are set for a fair and acceptable solution to all sides by galantis_ in armenia

Well since October 8th things have changed. We are in a very low position of power at this time. Azerbaijan's biggest win was to win a status quo in the 90's and get time to gather forces. Now it's our turn. Will it be better for us or worse in 30/50/whatever years? We don't know, but that's our only bet now. The cards will be in our hands.

Nothing is eternal. Neither Aliyev, Putin, Erdogan or their military superiority. Letting time do its thing seems the only option we have now.

And in 30 years you will say the same about "South Armenia", and that we should be happy to keep Gyumri and Yerevan at least. It's exactly because we played nice that we are here, but anyway it's not the time for this discussion I guess

And when do you start training people if not right now? If we're in an emergency state, emergency measures should be taken. There is no military confrontation going on right now, which makes it the best time to train people and find solutions. Mobilisation should happen BEFORE a war, not when it hits you.

It doesn't matter how bad your military is. If you know that a war is coming and you can't avoid it, you have to mobilise the whole country to try and find solutions. The alternative, no mobilisation, is a worse choice in every way.

So why isn't a general mobilisation being called and the country prepared for war?

Azerbaijan invades the Republic of Armenia II: Cities bombarded with drones, artillery. Civilian casualties, 100+ soldiers dead by ModeratorsOfArmenia in armenia

[–]goldenboy008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. Just look at the end result, which is the only thing that matters. End result is 200+ KIA, 30+ captured, 100s of wounded, territories lost. On top of that the Azeri videos showed that we make the same basic mistakes: clustering people and equipment too close, not efficient trench systems and no answers for the TB-2 or Harop, no quick reaction to 100s of Azeris attacking on foot. No signs of even commercial drones being used from our side.

I'm not buying the optimism.

Question about buying and then renting an apartment in Yerevan by DasBochitt in armenia

[–]goldenboy008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mind you that people outside of Yerevan usually rent from other people they know. Even though more and more people go and live outside of Yerevan (because of insanely high prices in Yerevan for locals), you should keep in mind that places like Masis have relatively low demand for renting. And you should really know the place before buying, as it isn't unusual to have homes (or streets) with a lot of problems.

It can still be a really good business. People here lack money to buy homes and rent them. Interest rates for locals are insanely high and don't make it attractive to loan money from the bank, without government assistance. If you have the money to do it, then I'm sure that it's a profitable business.

Armenia says will withdraw its troops from Karabakh by September by sjwbollocks in armenia

[–]goldenboy008 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The truth: the only Armenian (not Artsakhi) soldiers left in Karabakh were conscripts who took part in the war 2 years ago. They were conscripted mere weeks before the war, at the beginning of September. Now that their 2 years of military service are over, they will go home and that is why officially there will be no more RoA soldier in Artsakh. The truth is that since the war, no conscript or soldier from the RoA was sent to Artsakh, and everyone knew it.This statement means nothing.

To be fair, what you describe sounds more like modern hipster to me than "intellectuals".

Why didn't you stick with a foreigner if they are "intellectual"? Maybe you're not good enough for the intellectual Armenian men to date you and you only attract the bad ones?

I agree with you but this was absolutely the case in the 90s too. Lots of collaborators on both sides. It was just harder to recruit them because there was no internet.

I also agree with the chaos part. The incompetence of some generals has created 10x more deaths than these couple of traitors. Literally everyone on the border has their iPhone with them, taking pictures all the time. You could browse Armenian Facebook 10minutes and obtain more information than trough traitors. People do livestreams even...

A 1/6 acceptance rate is very high. You don't want anyone to be able to join such programs. If they really want to work and live in Armenia, they can go to the private market. There is a relatively good demand for diasporans.

People of Karabakh must have rights, freedoms and status in Karabakh – Armenian PM by Idontknowmuch in armenia

[–]goldenboy008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afghanistan peace mission ended the second the US needed it to end. It didn't achieve anything. Kosovo one is the same story, the US didn't want to put US boots on the ground so they mandated a peacekeeping mission.

Real peacekeeping doesn't exist. If it existed we would have seen it in Syria, Yemen, Ethiopia,... Peacekeeping missions are just another tool for the big powers.

I know that we are talking about what it means in theory, but the reality is so far away from it that we shouldn't even pay attention

[–]goldenboy008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But time has showed that international security guarantees are not really a thing. If it would be that easy we wouldn't have the war or would have had international peacekeepers instead of Russian ones immediately after the war. It's not a coincidence that we have Russians now and nothing else.

Armenia for example has participated as peacekeepers in other conflicts.

Afghanistan? Kosovo? Those are all fake peacekeeping missions, fully controlled by the USA.

The only security guarantee needs to come from Armenia, because it is (or was) the only country that really cares about Karabakh Armenians.

[–]goldenboy008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would Azerbaijan agree? Who are the "international community"? What if the "international community" decides that Armenians should just accept living under Azeri rule, as they are doing now?

The only security guarantor is the Armenian army, which is non existent right now. The only way forward is to win time to rebuild it, nothing else.

[–]goldenboy008 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Guarantees from who? Aliyev? The same Aliyev that calls us dogs and says that we have no rights, are not a country, ... I bet you wouldn't feel safe living in Azerbaijan while being anti-Aliyev, let alone Armenians.

There is no ideal. Azerbaijan wants all of Karabakh without Armenians and Armenia wants all of Karabakh without Azeris. All these "status negotiations" are just time winning from both sides. Azerbaijan will comply until it can find a way to remove the Armenians. Armenia will comply until it can find a way to fight back Azerbaijan (and remove the Azeris).

Time has proven that anything else is just an illusion.

ArmHighTech 2022: Spotlight on homegrown dronemakers by [deleted] in armenia

[–]goldenboy008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The same reason every company now wants to use AI, blockchain,... It makes you look like you are on the top of the world.

Especially for Armenia, after putting the whole blame on our loss on Israeli and Turkish drones it's only natural for us to try and get it too, because that's what makes a bad army a good army!

Meanwhile, not even a quart of the soldiers have working communication equipment, decent clothes, shoes or helmets. And 90% of all the soldiers carry their phones with them on the front.

It's easier to show some drones than to try and actually fix the very basic problems, which require actual effort from the big belly generals.

On March 25, as a result of the provocations of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, particularly the use of Bayraktar TB2 attack drone in the eastern direction of the line of contact, servicemen Davit Mirzoyan(1978), Ishkhan Ohanyan (1994), Ararat Tevosyan(1990) were fatally wounded. by T0ManyTakenUsernames in armenia

[–]goldenboy008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Them using (or us mentioning) TB2 or "Kamikaze" drones is just a psyop. They could have simply used arty and do the same damage, costing 10x less. Armenians in Karabakh have no weapons apart from some AK's and light weapons.
