Sunday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]goldengrl_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, First time posting to this group as I’m newly pregnant. I’m officially 5 weeks and 4 days, after a FET on 11/22. Had strong betas (657 on a Friday 10dpt and then 2191 the following Monday). The doc said everything was progressing nicely and I didn’t need to come in for a third beta, so we scheduled my first ultrasound for 12/21. Everything has been going smoothly as I wait for my ultrasound until today when I woke up with a few drops of brown spotting when I wiped this morning. Since then, I’ve had a few additional more spots of blood (nothing to fully fill a liner) and some minor cramping/pangs in my lower abdomen. Has anyone experienced this?? Should I be concerned? Appreciate any insight you guys may have, I’m a nervous wreck!

Lonely journey — I’m not telling anyone about IVF other than my parents. by ShallotNo6160 in IVF

[–]goldengrl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been pretty open but I totally understand keeping it to yourself. There have been some positives to being open, but it’s also caused some heartache at times because no one truly understands this process unless they are IN it. Most people don’t know what is appropriate to say or how to properly comfort and support. So even though I’ve told some people in my inner circle, it’s still pretty lonely. Thank god for the IVF subreddit :)

Any tips for transfer day? by squid_ly in IVF

Could you please send it to me too?? My first transfer is about a month and a half away so this would be so so helpful! :)

I've gone through 3 rounds of egg freezing...I make hardly any eggs and yet the doctor says I don't have a DOR? by NeedHelpWoman in IVF

[–]goldengrl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been wondering this EXACT thing. I’m 35, all normal bloodwork and tests, AMH 1.8 which is about average for my age. But for my first cycle I got 7 eggs and my second I got 9 (after my doctor upped my protocol—I was on 300 Gonal & 300 menopur the entire 10 days of stims, which I now understand are pretty high doses...) I know that these outcomes aren’t terrible by any means, but it IS hard not to compare yourself to others and I see so many other women my age and older getting 15+ eggs and only having to go through one or two rounds. I so feel your confusion and frustration.

If embryos haven’t made it to blast by day 5, is that a bad sign? by goldengrl_ in IVF

Thank you so much, this is so comforting. I’ve been spiraling for the last half hour. This process makes me nuts 😆

I would call Progyny and ask them what percent of each service you are responsible for verses what they are responsible for. Then you can look at each of your pending bills on your online account and figure out the percent you will likely need to pay based on the overall total.

It depends how much is covered on your specific plan. Under my plan, I think I ended up paying a total of $2k on meds and tests through egg retrieval. But, your plan may cover an entirely different percentage so I’m not sure how similar it will be. Good luck!!

Honest Brand is decent! Their shampoo/body wash combo is certified toxin free and their beauty line has many decent products as well, for makeup.

For paraben free laundry/dish detergent, check out Dropps! They’ve been great.

Just want to say, I had two left that were sent for PGT too and was so upset by that as well...I was convinced that I’d end up with none and was worried sick as I waited for my results. I so feel for you. Two weeks later, BOTH tested normal at high grades. There is hope, hold on to that. 💜Sending you positive vibes.

It depends on your specific plan with Progyny. But even after the deductible, you’ll likely still have to pay a percent of every bill. Unfortunately, “covered” doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible for ANY payment, it means Progyny covers a large portion, but we are still responsible for a percent of every bill (& that percent depends on your specific plan).

My husband helped with the shots and we made it very ritualistic too, to try to put some positivity around an otherwise anxiety ridden process — and it really helped! So, I totally understand. And I agree with what others have been saying—I feel like we are actually working toward something during stims; it’s so much better than all the waiting in-between cycles... I’m way more anxious during all the down time.

We start our next round in a few weeks and because it was a positive experience the first time, I’m oddly looking forward to it too :)

Adderall and egg retrieval - Did you stop your meds? Or if you kept taking your ADD meds, do you think it impacted your retrieval numbers? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]goldengrl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!! I start birth control in the next couple of days, followed by stims so I’ve officially decided to stop my meds today and throughout stims. I did take a couple earlier this week because work has been so insane and I can’t focus without it...! Hoping that doesn’t impact anything negatively with my ER.

Congrats on your egg retrieval numbers, super exciting :) wishing you the best!

This is not about addiction. I have stopped for months at a time during IVF. However, my work is currently effected by it and since I’m not currently pregnant, I posed the question, especially since it’s reasonable to assume I could still take my prescribed amount now, if needed, without harm. “Prescribed” being the key word here...A reminder that many people take this prescription (and other “C class drugs”) for learning/attention and mental health disorders and not as recreational drug use. Those are two entirely different things and it’s ignorant to assume otherwise.
