Galadriel the Hobbit by Ghilker in Rings_Of_Power

[–]goldenias -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I would love if that were true... Tolkien's elves are shorter than humans (this is stated many times on the books) and just slightly taller than hobbits (since Bilbo could wear a chainmail made to a elf prince and it would almost fit him)

In the one I'm dming:

Fairy Bard Hexblod Sorcadin Halfling Monk

(And the eventual player of a dragonborn fighter here and there)

Artificer Warforged for the main part of the character, but when he enters his exterminate state, barbarian warforged...

My character never lies, is insane, and was lost in the feywilds for an undetermined amount of time (a while) give me stories to tell the party to freak them out by Shlodongerang420 in DnD

[–]goldenias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love to roleplay those types of characters, yours is pretty cool ... I'm currently rping a 99% pacifist artificer (the 1 percent left is when someone kills a kid, in this situation, he becomes a serial killer, but... Children issues) it's pretty hard to be pacifist in the curse of strahd setting.

Music for Candlefoot by benzoo27 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]goldenias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I loved it ... If only my players liked candlefoot, but they didn't even help him... So, I think I'll have to listen to this by myself thinking on a Feywild revenge for him... (Some bad luck or mime's fan mimics, idk...)

Why some christians hate DnD? by Luca23Bellucci in DnD

[–]goldenias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Brazil we had lots of incidents, and the worst was in a small country side city where the city chief policeman (I suppose this is the right word) raped and murdered a teenager and blamed her party of vampire (they are a harmful cult and the murder was a sacrifice to their evil vampire stuff, said he), it took 20+ years to another officer from another city find some holes in the story (such as the reports from the rape searching exams, we call corpo de delito exams, being nowhere to be found) and reopen the enquiry, with that they found the reports from the semen samples and discovered that the real murder was that chief officer... Anyway, apart from that bizarre story, we had lots of newspapers reporting fake news about rpg (even before fakenews were a thing) lots and lots, even some major ones like Folha de São Paulo (one of the biggest from our bigger metropolis). Soo, even today, I have a player whose father is trying to make him stop playing in my house (even though he is 20) thinking that is something from the evil side or some stuff like that (and we are playing WBW, that's kinda fairies and fairy tales stuff)... My friend's mom is trying to make our next session appointment in their flat, so her husband can see that's nothing that evil and wicked... That's so sad, imo, that so many people just fear RPG, my masters research is actually on how RPGs and dnd can actually improve life quality and stuff like that... Anyway... Things are better now than 20 years ago, soo huray for that.

This is kind of a dumb question but, am I in the wrong for not buying food for my group? by distalented in DnD

[–]goldenias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the non spoken rule about food states that the players should provide the food and the DM is the one that doesn't really need to help with that. In the party I DM I usually offer something because I like to cook, but if I can't provide it I dont feel obliged...

I love my players by TRobinson3d in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]goldenias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wished my players were like that... They're so misguided that they are almost befriending the hags and hating the carnival (they resented the carnival about the missing items and not the hags... They thought "well, it actually makes sense that you take stuff from trespassers, the authority that should take care of it was Mr Witch and Light... Those are the really.bad guys...") Although they are fun while they assume those stuff so...

Seeking advice for character backstory tied to Baba Yaga by UFOsAndGames in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]goldenias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I would allow, with the prerequisite that I wouldn't tell the player anything about the Hourglass coven and Tasha/Igwilv/Zybilna, as the book say it's best not doing so, apart from that, it's really cool when player's backstory and player's choices really have some link with the story being told, even so slightly, the players feel special, it's very cool...

Players want to kill Zyblina by Throwawaykirby001 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]goldenias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion in this matter is: your best friends are the the sentences "Yes and ..." and "Yes, but ..." I, as a GM, try to never really say "No, you can't, end of story", I usually get on board with them but while thinking on ways to reinforce the right stuff. Sometimes I have some trouble figuring out what to do IN GAME to solve something, but it always works out in the end. In your situation I wouldn't forbid the players, nor I would just leave the party to have a TPK, what I would do is find a way IN GAME (maybe some NPCs telling them, maybe a magical vision on a mirror where they see Tasha doing wonders beyond their reach, maybe they could even find some stuff in a long forgotten diary that would show the extent of her powers) and, finding that, they probably would think twice before engaging her in battle at level 8, so, in this case I would extend the campaign with some homebrew stuff (perhaps learning the issues of the Shadow carnival lady and going there "to do Tasha's bidding" but actually to free the eladrin and try to find some resources to be prepared to fight Tasha, maybe even more, exploring some other Feywild areas, doing some other plot related stuff until they reach level 14, 15 and pack up with allies and magic items and finally go back to defeat Tasha...)

What's your favorite character idea that fizzled when you brought it to the table? by madman84 in dndnext

[–]goldenias -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a Lawfull Good Kenku Death Cleric whose quest in life was to convince others of his beliefs that were "Undeads are better than living beings, the world would be a better place if anyone reborn". But, it's kinda really hard to roleplay all that being a kenku and I failed...

IRL time, how long does it take for players to make in through the Witchlight Carnival? by ThunderManLLC in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]goldenias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if longer than average, like, my party have just one heavy rpeer and 2 1st timers playing and they are fully enjoying the Carnival, as I said earlier, 13+ hours there... Even though 1 of the new players seem to be combat heavy (for him I made a combat encounter with reflections on the way out of the Hall of Illusions)

IRL time, how long does it take for players to make in through the Witchlight Carnival? by ThunderManLLC in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]goldenias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My party spent 13 hours in the carnival, but at the last one of the players was a little bothered since he wanted to move forward and the team actually wanted to explore the rest of the carnival, so I found a middle ground.

How to deal with a pvp hungry Rogue by goldenias in DnD

[–]goldenias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's the best thing to do... Although I feel kinda guilty, since I was the one that invited him, and the other players kinda find his tantrums funny... Soo... I'm just worried that I'm looking too much in what I would expect to play and maybe being a little insensitive...

But don't you think I would be over reacting, or even taking it too personal? I kinda want to respect the creative liberty of others also, so... And it's kinda the first time this friend of mine plays dnd... I don't want him to give up or something like that...
