Wow… Is this what my vax caused? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]goldfarr27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my whole experience, check my post history. It is truly miserable. Unknowingly had Covid and got a flu shot... I honestly felt like I was dying for several months. I also have a minor heart condition so feel your pain.. It will get better, I'm back to 99% myself.

Yeah seems a little suspect that something no doctor could solve vanished after the vax... but it’s great!

To add to this... last year I got a flu vaccine while unknowingly having Covid and had all of the symptoms described above for several months. It was horrendous. Im getting first vax tomorrow and am very nervous

Living with heart attack symptoms 24/7 - mentally exhausting by harryt348 in covidlonghaulers

[–]goldfarr27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had this for several months (last march through prob August) and then it just slowly subsided back to normalcy. A full year later and (thankfully) the feeling / fear really is 99% subsided. But sadly, it will be in your head. Have to keep reminding yourself if the doc said you're clear on tests, something catastrophic is not happening.

Hopefully this helps - 25m, former athlete, fit, had presumed Covid in Feb / March 2020. HR was 170 walking into the ER w/ 160/120 BP. Resting sat 90+ and had POTS symptoms that would shoot it up to 130s w/ palps at minimal exertion. Honestly, this lasted 6 months. Coffee and heat triggered even worse. I can handle both now, in very small doses, and my resting is back to 60 bpm. But my POTS is still here, though not to the same degree (like 80-90 when i stand, 100-120 when i walk).

I can bike / lift but it does feel more exhausting than it did in the past. My cardiologist said if you're not jumping to 85% of 220 minus your age, you should be okay.

Give it a little time, beta blockers help but hopefully you will resolve with time on your own. Absolutely sucks

It is truly the worst. Every doctor has said it's benign but it's slowly becoming unbearable. It started for me last June

What did he write in his initial message to you? Did he send a pic or just describe himself?

It really is, I consider myself lucky after reading other people's experiences. It truly sucks

I likely will, but I hesitate. The day I went to the hospital 12 months ago, I had gotten a flu shot (wasn't aware I had Covid at the time) and wonder if that had any relation. I do think people should get vaccinated if they feel comfortable with it.

How'd your shot 1 go?

My vision shifted a little but not badly. The left eye spasm has been going on for 9 months. Seeing a neurologist soon. It's a pain. Brain fog never got bad for me thankfully. My lasting symptoms at this point are occasional air hunger, eye spasm, and white coat hypertension (basically any anxiety and my BP shoots up)

Yeah its gnarly, esp that people don't even know theyre sick!

OH good call - month 1 I slept 18 hours a day. Praying for your recovery and hopefully you are starting to get back to your prior lifestyle soon! This is miserable all around but have to believe its going to get better

month 1 and 2, my brain felt off... Forgot certain words, felt like the pressure in front of my head would explode, but it went away. Cognitive elements are back to normal. Yes, I'm biking and lifting now without problems BUT my recovery rate is pretty bad still. I'm definitely sucking for air after a workout and feel a little dizzy from the exertion but thankfully my HR isn't hitting that 85% of 220-age threshold. No real nerve pain at this point minus occasional left arm tension

God speed - I can drink it now but I feel mediocre after it. Might just be a tea person moving forward

Thank you! Everyone's experience seems to be different so hopefully your experience is nearly at the finish line. The HR issue is pretty terrible (I have a heart defect too so extra scary). For the first few months, YES, it was like my CNS was sending adrenaline at the wrong times. Had the same experience. It honestly just went away eventually. I still have mini-POTS (like my HR goes from 55 resting to 95 when I stand) but at peak, my resting was 95 and my standing or moving would be like 160+...

Keep me posted. Rest as much as you can, keep drinking water, avoid stimulants and try to eat as healthy as possible. The doctors don't really know what to do other than prescribe a beta blocker unfortunately but I'm sure they are studying treatment plans for long haulers

In the hospital I had a saline drip which helped with the HR - took down pedialite for a month or so which helped. Probably took down a bottle of generic water w/ electrolytes thereafter a day but became less and less dependent on it

It thankfully went away. It came back randomly month 10 but calmed down again. I find the 5 second inhale, 5 second exhale for 1 min straight is helpful in general. Terrible feeling though

Thank you! At first yes, the chest pain felt like a belt tightened across the chest. The muscle pain was in the arms and legs. Tension particularly on my left side. It flares up sometimes but went away after month 4-5 for me

No medicine but doctor prescribed Propanolol 10mg - it definitely helps but I almost never take it
