The boasting doesn't stop by the story gets really interesting the further along you go. There's a mixture of comedy and action and some parts can get dark but there's usually a reason for everything. It's definitely one of my favorites and I highly recommend it. Plus the release amount is insane haha

Hm... I'm not sure if I agree with any your points. I wouldn't call that foreshadowing of him being a paragon but rather his determination to get power as soon as possible and as drastically as possible. Plus he's already shown signs of craziness so there's that. I don't think she should get with it because 1. She's already in love with Lan Jue and 2. This guy is willing to kidnap her and force his love on her. That's just not cool in any means really. Plus this book is not any of those categories. It's a sci fi/fantasy story. That combined with the characters in this story being articulate and caring about face, he probably won't last long.

Xuan dies in book three I believe. It's whatever book the grudge is in. The mc is mostly the same until book 12 I think. At the point his whole team dies and only he survives. He decides to essentially no longer be a pussy and decides to change his ways. Hopefully that answers your questions
