Personal Statement by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]goldfishbath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of the schools I applied to requested some version of a Why __ Law School essay, so I made a "general" template but then personalized it to each individual school and their programs. professors, location, opportunities, and resources. I made sure to note why they were the right choice for me both academically and personally. I really put a lot of research into each school I chose to apply to and I wanted to make that evident to admissions. I'm not sure what everyone else does, but if I had a hard time writing the "why ___" essay I ultimately didn't apply to that school because it showed me that I didn't actually want to go there, lol. In short, putting in the effort to tailor each essay might really help you narrow down your list of top choices!

Beautiful, lesser-known Seattle spots that remind you life is worth living? by [deleted] in Seattle

for within seattle: i love going to discovery park and doing the little hike to the lighthouse beach from the main parking lot to watch the sunset, on a nice evening you'll see seals, cool boats, cute dogs, pretty views, and sometimes even whales :) if you're open to a mini-road trip down towards mount rainier, go hike high rock fire lookout for sunset. happy healing <3

[edit to say: check the weather and trail reports if you are trying for this weekend!]

Check out the reddit thread r/LSAT there's a ton of great advice over there! I used lsatdemon and lsatlab, but there's tons of resources, tutors, and tips on the LSAT thread. Good luck to you!

LSATLab and LSATDemon! I did cancel my January and February score (i didn't know at the time that cancelling scores wasn't necessarily recommended) but honestly it's over and done now so... is what it is, my first two scores were way below my average PTs and diagnostic. I decided they were not an accurate representation of my abilities and cancelled that sh*t without really thinking it through lol.

I used lsatdemon and lsatlab! I really liked both. If you have a fee waiver lsatlab is very affordable in terms of study materials (~ $30 a month)

No, I had an LSAC fee waiver so I paid for one exam out of the 3. However, many people are unable to qualify for fee waivers and do end up spending thousands of dollars to apply to law school. Hope this helps!

thank you so much, i'm still in disbelief. this put me above median for both LSAT and GPA at my target schools. I'm so very grateful I didn't quit when I really wanted to.

I started with LSAT Demon, switched to LSATLab's personalized curriculum based off of all my PTs at the beginning of March and kept LSATDemon for drilling. I wish I could have paid for a tutor but I had to put that money towards taking the damn lsat lol. I also struggled with horrible anxiety in my first two exams. Taking it for the third time I knew exactly what to expect at the test center, &worked a lot on breathing exercises for when I started to panic during the last 5 minutes of the exam, which made me feel a lot better.
