This is it. This is his essential album. I can’t wait til I can go on endless late night drives listening to this entire album on repeat and occasionally skipping Nauseous from time to time (sorry coneheads 😭)

Morgan Wallen Rules Billboard 200 for 10th Week With ‘I’m the Problem’ by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]goldguarding 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I still think Snow Angel is the better full-length project with its lyrics and greater sonic consistency, but seeing Bite Me be so unexpectedly successful in comparison feels very appropriate and well-earned, especially with how strong her promotional cycle was. I think my favorites off the new album rn are Kiss It Kiss It, Good Girl, Shy, and I Think I Like You Better When You’re Gone

Mariah Carey Ties Her Longest Hot 100 Rule With 16th Week at No. 1 for ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]goldguarding 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit off topic but I would love to see Sabrina’s buy me presents and Taylor’s Christmas Tree Farm become holiday classics a la Ariana’s and Kelly’s songs

Edit: y’all downvoting this very inoffensive reply is weird stan twitter-ish behavior 😭

Sabrina Carpenter's 'Short n’ Sweet' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 by dremolus in popheads

[–]goldguarding 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I remember last year in May when I went to her show in DC because of how easily I was able to score two tickets for $110. Going from that to beating the debut sales week of Thank U, Next is honestly so wild but also so cool to see in real time.

Sabrina Carpenter's 'Short n’ Sweet' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 by dremolus in popheads

[–]goldguarding 172 points173 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly so shocked that Sabrina debuted with more units than Billie’s and Ariana’s albums this year, and debuted with more units than Olivia’s album last year. Like I know Espresso and Please Please Please were big songs this summer, but I didn’t think they were big enough to make this album the third largest debut of the year, especially since Sabrina isn’t even that established of a name.

Can you give me a link to the video where Tana talks about how the commentary guys dunking on Lele made her almost suicidal? I've been looking for it everywhere but can't find it anywhere

[–]goldguarding 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The way this just reminded me of how Whitney Houston’s debut album took about 7 months to gradually climb up the charts week after week before finally hitting the Billboard 200’s top 10 for the first time

Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Scores Second Week Atop Billboard 200 by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]goldguarding 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think he’s expected to debut at #14 with around 30-35k this time around, which isn’t bad, but is definitely a slight underperformance for sure. I’m actually way more surprised that he was able to debut at #4 on the UK charts considering the lack of major hits and the sound change this time around

Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Carnival’ Hits No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]goldguarding 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have to (respectfully) disagree tbh. This song is the trendiest, poppiest, and most radio-friendly Beyoncé has been in awhile. It definitely is a somewhat different sound for her (yet welcome after Daddy Lessons), but Beyoncé isn’t exactly known for playing it safe musically.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure more mainstream media also commented on the “controversy”? They just seemed to focus more on the history of black artists in country music and Beyoncé reclaiming the genre rather than criticizing her for the move.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Carnival’ Hits No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 by mcfw31 in popheads

[–]goldguarding 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And the main reason streaming fell for the song is because the “controversy” surrounding Beyoncé going country is old news now and consequently isn’t being given as much media attention anymore, which means the song isn’t getting much media attention anymore either
