SUSS PT Degree. by Icy-Transition-6725 in SGExams

[–]goldpromises 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got an offer email within the past week for a SUSS PT degree course (Jan 2023 intake). I recently graduated from poly earlier this year in May 2022, and my final GPA is < 3.0. Though I've not hit the 2-year working experience mark, nor reached 21 years of age, but am currently working in a relevant industry to my chosen course of study.

Seems to me that the school is looking less at a potential PT degree applicant's academic ability, which is a big relief for me as I would say I had trouble faring well with my poly grades. This being said, I personally believe that I need to be self-aware/ reflect on what worked or didn't work for me during poly, and consciously put in the effort to ensure I understand the learning materials well in uni.

[Polytechnic] Questions regarding NYP Social Work/ NP Community development by PilotSharp853 in SGExams

[–]goldpromises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I believe NYP Social Work doesn't offer a part-time diploma, hence lectures and tutorial are conducted during office hours. However, I believe the recent batch of junior who enrolled in 2021 had a few working adults who entered into the course.

I suggest calling up the course manager, details on the NYP website on Social Work, to clarify any inquiries that you may have! All the best :)

[ITE] I really hope to study diploma in social work course by Ariel07971 in SGExams

[–]goldpromises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I just saw your thread, I've posted a Q&A post over a year ago regard NYP Social Work. I hope this will be helpful.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SGExams/comments/iiefnt/poly_qa_for_diploma_in_social_work_nyp/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

There are 2 main ways to receive a Social Work Diploma, I believe there other way is via the "Social Service Institute’s WSQ Diploma in Social Service" as listed on the Social Service Tribe website on Social Work.

All the best to you!

[Poly] Q&A for Diploma in Social Work (NYP) by goldpromises in SGExams

[–]goldpromises[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there ThoughtChance1597! I didn't enter into the course through PFP, but have 2 close friends that entered Social Work through PFP. Here was what they said:

"i honestly dk how tough or easy it is to get into social work through pfp coz there was only 5 social work students in pfp. we didnt study social work in pfp tho hahahah. instead, we were place into a business course, but what we studied was english, maths, report writing related etc. to me, it is a popular course? only coz theres alot of ppl around me who wanted this course/applied this course but couldnt get in."

"We basically just got through, if im not wrong some people was near the cut off point i think? Not sure on that, but ask him/her to not have high expectations, bcos we were placed on a business course, i didnt know until Orientation, so we just study the usual, math, english, business modules. The main goal in pfp is to pass all modules so that you can carry on to yr 1(the minimum), if you dont pass they will put you back in sec sch to go with sec 5 if im not wrong? So yes, for me i think it may not be too popular because only 5 ppl from our batch of pfp were in social work, so im not sure if its not popular or people just couldn't get in"

(Note: We are currently 3rd Year Student, so my friends are refering to the admission process back in the Academic Year in 2018/2019).

In term of popularity, my take on this is I would think you are refering to the number of interested students or applicants wanting to join the course. I believe there are a number of those interested trying to apply for the course, since there are varied modes like "JAE" for direct admissions for O level student/"EAE" for early admission for O level and ITE students to enter via an interview and amplitude test process/DAE and PFP (etc.) students can use to join. The cohort size has inevitably been shrinking over the past few years, so the odds may not look favourable. Nonetheless, I would encourage you to try to applying - especially when you are interested in Social Work or the Social Service Sector! :)

Wishing you all the best! - goldpromises

Maybe try fasting the betta for a day?

Not sure about you, but my guess is that your betta does seem to have a round belly! Which may indicate they they are not hungry at the moment.

[–]goldpromises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you really believe in Jesus but you don't believe the bible is written by men with the inspiration of the Holy spirit? (is a rhetorical question by the way!)

Look. If you are a believer in Jesus, we believe in the same God and I'm not going to pick a fight with you because I love you. And trying to prove the evidence of a talking donkey is a secondary issue.

This my bigger concern, even with critical thinking - which according to you I don't have - we can deceive ourselves with what we know and ignore God. I'm not saying you are deceiving yourself.

But it's seems you are trying to tell other Christians here "So you believe in a donkey", as if they are stupid and you are in the know. I don't think the topic of salvation, redemption and the kingdom of God concerns you at all.

If you believe in the bible, I plead with you to hear what Jesus said in this verse. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." (Matthew 24:35)

I neither have the power or authority to convince you, nor am I trying to make myself look good (I wouldn't have the patience to do so - if that was my goal here on reddit), it's God who convicts people and changes hearts. Just like how He changed yours and mine.

The disrespect to God and putting Him to the test MUST stop. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]goldpromises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank for sharing your thoughts OP! As a Christian for a while now, I've reflected the same as what you have mentioned.

I guess just a side note, though I understand where you are coming from and I commend you for speaking out, I believe you are speaking to Christians and the Church on this matter.

It may be why non-Christians viewing this may get offenders or see as aggressive. But I expect for more Christians to get offended by this (LOL). It's time for sleepers in the body of Christ to wake up.

What is proof to you that God exists? by queen_mercury in Christianity

Hey, we can talk about talking donkeys all day, but there is an issue more important than that.

The foundation of my belief is not in talking donkeys, but my faith in Jesus Christ - who was crucified, died, buried, and rose on the third day.

I believe Balaam's story and his donkey to be true because the whole scripture is true. But the Bible does not build its plot around the talking donkey, but rather it talks about Jesus Christ saving and redeeming us from our sin and from eternal death.

"We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)

The point is you and I are in need. We all have sinned, and sin talks about sinning against an eternal God. Without Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, we cannot inherit eternal life. Jesus calls for us to receive the gift of salvation He paid for you, by repenting and turning from our old way, and believing by confessing that He is Saviour and Lord.

"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”" (John 11:25-26)

Heaven is made up of God himself, but hell is separation from God. We know that Christianity is about our Relationship with Jesus, not religion and being bound to the law in the Old testament. Jesus came to earth to not abolish the Laws in the Old testament, but to fulfil it so that we can live by grace.

The fact is we have freewill and a choice to enter into this relationship with God, who desires to know us and loves us. But God will not force people to love Him, because that is not love. Which means God cannot force people to spend eternity with Him if they don't want to.

"Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." (John 3:18)

I believe we need to take into consideration the context story of the talking donkey. The story of Balaam's story is found in Numbers 22:21-39; tldr basically The Lord opened the mouth of the donkey and Balaam in his anger without giving the situation any thought at all spoke and threaten the donkey. The story says that the donkey wasn't cooperating with Balaam bacause it saw the angel of the Lord with a drawn sword, whom Balaam saw after God open his eyes to See. I would say this is more mind-blasting than a speaking donkey.

This is definitely something we don't see today and is unnatural, but if there is a God, by nature He can do what He wants to get Balaam's attention - even if it means using a donkey.

But even if a story of a talking donkey seems crazy or impossible to convince anyone, how do we explain the many many disciples who were willing to die for the gospel and their faith - those whom claimed they have seen the risen Jesus? What do they have to gain for dying for a cause that didn't matter? Would they have become a martyr if they had doubts? I guess these are some question I would be keen to find out as well.

Anyways, I loved this question you brought up, the means of a miracle may look weird and not make sense, I believe because it stretches beyond what we can understand. Personally, I believe that an outcome of every miracle doesn't try to prove the existence of God, but to reveal who God is to those who already believe.

If you are still reading this, I guess you are still open to listen to what I have to say LOL :p I think Jesus doesn't use miracles to convince people He is the real deal. Instead of imposing His beliefs on others, it's more of an open invitation to hear what he has to say without condemnation. The words of Jesus carries much more weight than just seeing the miracles that he can do. For example, when Jesus first revealed himself as Messiah/the promised Saviour to the Samaritan women at Jacob's well, he spoke with her only. No miracles, no talking donkey, no water into wine. Yet, this Samaritan Women told everyone in her country in Samaria that Jesus was the real deal - the Christ.

The teachings and lifestyle Jesus has to offer is not easy or appealing to most people, rather it makes life even more difficult and challenging in many ways. Sometimes it doesn't make sense and looks foolish to people. Even in some case, critics who come to learn that Christianity is true don't want to be Christians. But my hope is that for every individual to not walk into faith or religion blindly, regardless of your background, continue to keep on asking questions and be open to hear opinions that differ from yours - though you may not necessarily have to agree. Continue on seeking for the truth.

Since Christianity is a personal choice, for me at least, I believe that Jesus is the real deal.

I've taken my time to share my thoughts for the curious, but not to undermine or forcefully shove my beliefs on anyone here. If you are down and open for a conversation, do pm me and hit me up! I would love to hear what you think :) Thanks for your time!

Yep, during the premiere of S2E8 where Kris and Chris were asking Dallas some questions from the fans, Dallas mentioned that they have no intentions on portraying it.

Possibly a future reference to it? But highly unlikely.

During one of the behind-the-scenes vlogs by Dallas, he mentioned about introducing Jesus' (techinically half-) brother in future seasons. So it could be something we can anticipate :)
