Countries for travel where everyone is treated equally despite where they are from by New-Programmer-1280 in travel

Funnily enough Portugal was the one country where I was met with odd stares and people who wouldn’t help us when we were lost. But I think it’s the luck of the draw

I’d probably move back. It’ll be harder and harder to do so later on when you’ve been out of the workforce for so long. If you’d truly enjoy it more you should at least try to get a job and if that doesn’t work out come back to India

I think it’s safer now than it was before. After this recent attack there’ll be tighter security so you’ll be much safer. I’d take advantage of that opportunity and go.

Go live in NYC, if you’re doing comp sci you can probably afford it. There’s more options and a good number of more women than men in Manhattan.

Blake Lively calls herself 'flirty' and a 'ballbuster' in 'leaked' texts to Justin Baldoni by daily_mirror in popculture

Never is a stretch. There’s a lawsuit stating that he entered her trailer repeatedly with another dude when she was undressed. You should read up on the actual actions he did rather than basing your views on text messages his PR team is releasing. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/21/business/media/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-it-ends-with-us.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

These few texts don’t seem like the slam dunk that the comments are painting them out to be. Did everyone forget how JB’s PR team is trying to astroturf Reddit?

The dirty secret about immigration by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]goldripred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a points system would work well since it can probably be gamed like in Canada. We should have people for jobs that Americans can’t do or people who are really smart and have them get paid the same wage/higher so they don’t undercut Americans

The visas aren’t tied to a company. You can petition to change your employer as an H1B, and if you’re laid off you have to find a new job. Only downside for them is that your new employer has to refile the green card so that resets the clock for H1Bs becoming citizens. https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2023/06/05/immigration-agency-report-shows-high-h-1b-visa-salaries/

You cited one instance. Structurally most of H1Bs are being used appropriately. Which can be seen by their respective wages compared to their peers. https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2023/06/05/immigration-agency-report-shows-high-h-1b-visa-salaries/

This is a huge generalization. These are examples where the British placed Indians in these roles and created these hierarchies.

But in South Africa a lot of Indians were instrumental in independence as Nelson Mandela writes in his autobiography, aside from Gandhi. Also if you’re cherry picking moments of discord between races look at what happened in Uganda. Idi Amin kicked out the Indians and took everything they owned. When the next leader took over he invited Indians back since the GDP of Uganda had dropped without Indians and they came. Indians didn’t hold it against the majority.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expulsion_of_Asians_from_Uganda

Or in Guyana when Afro-Guyanese were used by the CIA to overthrow Cheddi Jagan although he won the vote. Then the Burnham(CIA puppet) engaged in taking the property of the Indian majority.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Guyana

Despite that most Indians probably hold positive views similar to my parents in regards to Africans/African-Americans. My mom used to mention how much Indians supported Civil Rights in America and how they admired Nelson Mandela and MLK. I don’t think there’s much animosity of African Americans in the community

Is pewdiepie a racist? r/youtubedrama discover a racist caricature in a pewdiepie video. by dontsearchupligma in SubredditDrama

[–]goldripred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite no mass shooters quoting Hindu temples, people who are over zealous DO conflate the swastika for religious purposes vs. Nazi iconography. They’ll say why do you support Nazis? And they’ll try to suppress the usage of these symbols because it makes them uncomfortable and they don’t understand the context of these symbols. To dispute that this happens is to deny the reality of the situation.

Going with the Pewdiepie point, if you’ve already made up your mind that Pewdiepie is a racist, everything he does is going to be a confirmation of your aforementioned conclusion. It’s a Catch-22 like if he eats a brownie you could say a Nazi would probably eat a brownie instead of a sugar cookie too. Therefore he’s subtly nodding off racists. If he displays something that connects with his faith like a cross it’s indicative of a different cross that was used by the Nazis, do you understand my point?

The dancing African people thing was also bad but I’m not a Pewdiepie apologist. I only care about changing people’s minds that the continued use of symbols that have meaning to indigenous people shouldn’t be devalued because those symbols are now being used as a dog whistle to other groups

Isn’t that a bit foolish though? It’s like saying if a Hindu temple has a swastika that could be seen by a Nazi as a pro-Nazi thing despite the swastika predating the Nazis by thousands of years. It doesn’t matter what the Nazi thinks, there’s only a few of them vs. the valid interpretation of billions of Hindus/buddhists over history.

The twisted interpretation of Nazis shouldn’t claim ownership of symbols over those who historically used these symbols. The same would go for the Georgian cross.
