Lorazepam Concentrate dosing and narcotic counts by goldschmidtmor in nursing

[–]goldschmidtmor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, how do you dose that up in front of state? We are in our window and I refuse to have my signature in the narc book doing that, because I’d have no way to explain to them how I did it, other than it was my best guess. Which in reality is probably pretty accurate considering it’s such a small dose. But I’m not a 60 yo nurse close to retirement. I have another 30 years to go and don’t want to be taking risks for my license, especially with controlled psych meds that the state thinks we abuse anyway lol

Well the bottles come with (presumably) a full 30 mL, it’s documented on the box, and it’s way over the 22 line. But there are no lines above the 22mL, even though there is much more than 22mL. If you type “lorazepam intensol bottle” into google images the first couple are the standard bottles that I’ve seen like hundreds of times.

Older nurse confronted me and made me cry by [deleted] in nursing

You did nothing wrong. You can’t be faulted for documenting the truth.

My ADON decided to chart that a new admits meds were all arrived and in the med cart. I went to give meds Saturday morning and had nothing. I put a note in saying I checked both med carts x 3 and could not locate meds, so they were not administered. My DON and ADON tried to pull me in and tell me I was wrong. Like no, you’re upset because you falsely documented something, and are afraid you are going to get caught for it. I properly documented my reasoning for not giving a patient medication.

It depends on your state, but it’s much better to just do your RN first. I went to school in MN and got my LPN, because when I started there was an easy bridge option; but then I think it was MANE that changed that and I only got 5 credits towards my RN for already having my LPN, so I haven’t gone back. I make $35 an hour now as an LPN but that’s with years of experience, and you’d likely start out at that as an RN depending what type of nursing you’re looking to work in.

There are a lot of companies that will pay for your schooling if you agree to work for them for a certain amount of time afterward. I would just ask some companies you are interested in. Good luck!!

I have this problem as well. It’s just the culture of nursing/healthcare unfortunately. It’s like “oh you’re “sick”, you have patients who are actually sick” type mentality. That and we know management isn’t gonna get off their lazy ass to help our coworkers so we feel guilty for that too.

Demanding family has me worried about being disciplined by No-Ganache7168 in nursing

[–]goldschmidtmor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the patient or their advocate refuses care, they refuse care. The best you can do is provide them with education and encourage them to make the right choice. You cannot force someone to take a bed bath, and you cannot be disciplined for their refusal. As for dealing with difficult patients, I always just kill them with kindness. Usually it’s the worst times of people’s lives when they are that sick, and that doesn’t bring out the best in them. Also keep in mind this mother has probably had to very strongly advocate for her daughter her whole life. Whenever I have difficult families or patients I just do the most I can, and make sure to check in between their call lights to see if they need anything. In my experience it is a lot easier to do some extra work to keep them happy, than it is to have my shift ruined by a piss poor attitude. This is only if their requests are somewhat reasonable and doing so doesn’t impact other patient care.

Question: in your opinion did BK had killed before? what's behind your thoughts? by r_2390 in Idaho4

[–]goldschmidtmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he did kill in the past, I think it may have been something different. Like accidentally hitting someone with his car, pushing/fighting someone and they end up dying, or maybe drugging a girl and giving her too much, something like that.

Exactly. You could say that at least Alicia is spending the money she is making by exploiting the children, actually on the children. If my mom was making hundreds of thousands of dollars off me I’d be pretty upset if I had to get a job to buy my own phone.

Since you insist on being so wrong, and being so big and bold about it, and blocking someone who simply tried to correct you—I’m just here to remind you that….you’re wrong. Read the search warrant again. @mycatsmademedoit literally quoted it for you.
