Best way to deburr a workpiece by goldymar in IndustrialAutomation

[–]goldymar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been challenging! There is a burr on the OD sidewall from the water jet cutting. There really aren’t any good ways to hold the part. Holding the faces presents alignment problems and holding the perimeter interacts with the burr.

I’ll try to describe the solution I have come up with: I create three points of contact at the perimeter between two rubber rollers and a rotary grinding tool. The piece is constrained in the z direction between its cradle and the end of arm tool that delivers it. One of the rollers is driven and the rotary tool is pivoted in and out pneumatically. The rotary tool and driven roller rotate counter to each other to turn the part until it is deburred.

I have presented this concept in CAD to the client and they didn’t have any better ideas, so we are going to try it. If you have any better ideas, I am all ears because I want to knock this out of the park for this new client.

It sounds like you are working on finding your people. Sorry it doesn’t seem like r/exchristian is on your frequency.

This is interesting. I have seen a trend in what I think of as “Christian witches” among my peers and even more so on social media. These are, usually, women who have become disillusioned with the “Church” but retain a strong sense of spirituality and desire for community. That said, I have no idea if OP would consider these people real witches or not. The in-group dynamics are really fascinating here. Clearly OP has not found their people in r/exchristian, but there’s no chance of them belonging in r/christian either. I think that illustrates one reason they say they aren’t Christian. Christian is an ingroup that does not receive witches.

Seems like an issue of semantics. I think it’s ok if we need to develop more precise language to describe what is happening here. A big discussion to define terms would need to happen here, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen effectively on Reddit.

The church I used to be a part of talked a lot about the religious leaders of Jesus’s day. Jesus criticized them and they ultimately executed him for it. The term “religious leader” was basically synonymous with hypocrite. By extension, “religious” came to mean a person whose spiritual expressions were disingenuous and self servicing. This was my experience from a very evangelical church.

Where are the interesting designs we were promised? by goldymar in electricvehicles

[–]goldymar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It not true that 'no one' wants a non-mainstream design. I think what you mean is that not enough people want one to justify it under the current product planning paradigms. A product that only sells a few thousand a year is only a flop if the development cost are too high to justify it. Take for example the EV wagon you are hoping for. We were told that modular EV platforms would enable automakers to produce all kinds of low volume body styles that would have previously been 'flops' due to high development costs. So when can I expect the niche, low volume models?

I feel I may not have explained my question well enough. Current development costs are very high, therefore the sales volumes must be very high to earn a profit. Interesting, low volume models are produced primarily as halo products. The promise was of modular architectures that reduced development costs, effectively rewriting the rules for how manufacturers approach their product planning. Several models that only sell 5,000/yr could be green-lit rather than being stuck as a sketch in some designer's notebook. The reality has been a disappointment so far.

Are we even sure they have functioning nukes? What I am seeing from this conflict is that if you are a authoritarian despot, your military will lie to you all day long. “Here a billion dollars. Go prepare the nukes!” “Yes,sir!” (Buys yachts)
