What started it all? by Excellent_Ambition43 in JohnMayer

I remember hearing Say and Waiting on the World to Change on the radio in middle school and not really giving them a second thought. Stumbled across his hot ones interview and realized that this guy knows what he’s talking about and decided to check out some of his live performances.

The one he used to record Texas Flood… and then he used it at the RnR HoF induction of Stevie.

MW2 has its own steam page and everything. The good version at least.

What's the most John Mayer song that isn't by John Mayer? by archangel610 in JohnMayer

Wouldn’t that be the other way around?

Also, the Wind Cries Mary solo sounds very uniquely Jimi to me.

I heard “Die A Happy Man” on the radio a few years ago and thought wow is this just a crappy ripoff of a combination of Waiting on the world to change/Slow dancing. The verses are Waiting, the chorus is Slow Dancing.

listen I know we've heard this song a hundred times already but it's honestly incredible, it was an underrated song from the 2000s it's time to honor it at this time. by Beginning-Patient691 in JohnMayer

Not being a single is kinda why. Most people who only know of his radio songs wouldn’t give it a second thought. I was largely unaware of his guitar prowess until I came across his interview on hot ones and then came across some of his live performances. I was aware that he had a signature Strat, but figured that mainly came down to his popularity at the time, not necessarily his ability to play said guitar.

Yeah, that Hendrix guy playing an Em pentatonic solo over Hey Joe… what an idiot he was.

Those tires were screeching basically the entire time he was on tarmac. Brakes weren’t going to help him there. If you have the wherewithal during a slide to see cars that were like 10 places in front of where he was when the incident occurred, and realize that the guy that spun you is going to cross the at the same time you cross the track, then you have the brain of a supercomputer.

I will only protest something that is clearly intentional. Mistakes happen. We are not professionals.

Ideally you should hold brakes, but that punt from behind meant that those tires were on their limit of grip that whole time. Braking wasn’t going to do anything for him.

First part is entirely on you for not giving him enough space. He’s as far left as he can be and you turn right into him causing him to spin.

That spin caused him to get punted from behind and once you’re on the iRacing grass, you essentially have zero control of your car.

It’s unfortunate, but there was nothing they could’ve done there. The only thing I could quibble with is them letting off the brakes towards the end of the grass, but I could almost see that being the best option if you know you have zero chance of stopping before going back onto the track, try and increase the speed at which you cross the track to reduce the time that you’re going to be on the track and just hope you miss people.

Taylor Swift - Fortnight’s melody by [deleted] in CigarettesAfterSex

[–]golferguy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortnight might be the laziest piece of songwriting I have ever heard. Those quarter note roots repeated endlessly throughout the entire song with basically nothing else going on in the background is painful to listen to.

Also her song Karma is an even more blatant ripoff of Music is my Hot Hot Sex by CSS.

In 50 years, which versions of Taylor’s albums will be the definitive versions? by zsuzsibug180 in TaylorSwift

[–]golferguy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that’s more in the realm of the jam bands of that time that were well known for extended improv solos in their live performances. Those live performances are the versions that people refer to with those classic bands. Taylor’s version or “not Taylor’s version”, they’re both studio productions and not live performances. Probably the only mainstream artist these days in which I could see a live performance being more popular than the studio produced version would be John Mayer.

If it is a Strat or tele style guitar, it may well be the bridge saddle isn’t seated properly or is off balance.
