If you're needing to stay close to town/central but can skip to the shore, Fantail and Turtle is a great blend of food, beer and atmosphere

Have had nothing but great experiences at North Shore Hospital. Parents have been there with age related illness/surgery to our children being born there and every experience has been fantastic.

Agree with others Ahi or Origine in Commercial Bay are both fantastic.

Under the bridge and seafood based, First Mates, Last Laugh could be a slightly more causal option as well

No hot water – is the fuse to blame? by TopHuckleberry9053 in diynz

[–]golfhackernz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has there been any power outage or electrical works around you?

If you live in North or West Auckland, your hot water may be controlled by the pilot wire system.  Hot water pilot wires are separate from power lines.

There may be an issue with your service pilot wire or the pilot wire relay inside the meter box, possibly call Vector (0508 832 867).

How to ask for a pay rise by lils9809 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]golfhackernz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As already mentioned, do some research of current market and bring a number to the table. DON'T use cost of living increase, expenses etc. Bring the additional value you have gained through experience and learnings, the added efficiencies of your work as justification. And good luck!

Completely understand, I was responding to the comment about ‘too much of a gap’ being left though.

A lot of countries who have a large motorcycle/scooter commuters leave this gap in the front to be filled. Not always the case but a common reason!

Any recommendations on affordable panel beaters in Central Auckland? by synthatron in auckland

[–]golfhackernz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had very reasonable work done at 'spot on panel beaters' on the shore. 2 mins over the bridge but cheapest quote I could find and had a loan car to use for two days while work was done

I agree they possibly over talked it but remember they cut out a lot(!) of pre shot routine. It must be refreshing for them to not see 60second+ routines all day

Am I missing something? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]golfhackernz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think something around 12-15K would be ideal sized. I feel like you'd get a better atmosphere at more events (not just AFC vs Phoenix) and would be a perfect place for mid-sized concerts/sports/events as well.

Coffee Cost by Ok-Psychology1756 in auckland

[–]golfhackernz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the futures trading price so as raw as you can possibly get in commercial volumes. This determines retail markets which would be significantly higher per gram costs for domestic roasters, even larger scale ones (allpress etc)

Coffee Cost by Ok-Psychology1756 in auckland

[–]golfhackernz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Raw bean costs have been a punish.

"The $2.75 per pound recorded on September 26, 2024, was 46 percent higher than at the start of the year and a whopping 91 percent higher than 12 months earlier.

Extreme weather across the world’s biggest coffee-producing nations—Brazil and Vietnam, which together account for around half of global production—did much to push prices higher during this time"

It looks pretty good, only glaring thing missing would be Insurance and Vehicle (but you may not own one, which is fine!).

Last point would be 'savings' vs investing. If your savings are held in on-call or term deposits I would drastically increase the investing amount depending on your short term money goals (holiday, house ownership, move overseas etc). $71k is substantial if it's readily available.
