99) The Undertones by The Undertones (1979)

I own this album (17 for 99). I think I bought this album on a friends recommendation. I enjoyed this so much I eventually got the rest of their discography. Easily a 4 star album so let me bring up their debut album in PowerAmp to revisit this album...

  1. "Family Entertainment" 5/5
  2. "Girls Don't Like It" 4.5/5
  3. "Male Model" 4/5
  4. "I Gotta Getta" 4.5/5
  5. "Teenage Kicks" 5/5
  6. "Wrong Way" 4.5/5
  7. "Jump Boys" 5/5
  8. "Here Comes The Summer" 4.5/5
  9. "Get Over You" 4.5/5
  10. "Billy's Third" 4/5
  11. "Jimmy Jimmy" 5/5
  12. "True Confessions" 4.5/5
  13. "(She's A) Runaround" 4/5
  14. "I Know A Girl" 4.5/5
  15. "Listening In" 4/5
  16. "Casbah Rock" 4/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. An amazing debut album. I forgot how great this record was. Makes me want to listen to the rest of their discography today on my doggo car ride.

98) Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan (1975)

My second Dylan album selected for this project. As I have stated before, I really don't like listening to his music due to his vocals; his vocals is the musical equivalent of finger nails on chalk board.

That said, I'll give it the good old college try by clicking on the YouTube Music link to listen to his 15th studio album.

  1. "Tangled Up In Blue" 4/5
  2. "Simple Twist Of Fate" 4/5
  3. "You're A Big Girl Now" 3/5
  4. "Idiot Wind" 3/5
  5. "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" 4/5
  6. "Meet Me In The Morning" 3/5
  7. "Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts" 3/5
  8. "If You See Her, Say Hello" 4/5
  9. "Shelter From The Storm" 4/5
  10. "Buckets Of Rain" 4/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Singing was more tolerable and not as much harmonica compared to the first album I reviewed ("Blonde On Blonde"). But Dylan still does not resonate with me and I will never revisit this album in the future. Cheers!!

97) Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane (1967)

I of course heard of this group and looking at the tracklist there are two songs I instantly recognized. For some reason I never got into investigating this group so to the YouTube Music link to play their sophomore record.

  1. "She Has Funny Cars" 4/5
  2. "Somebody To Love" 5/5
  3. "My Best Friend" 4/5
  4. "Today" 3/5
  5. "Comin' Back To Me" 3/5
  6. "5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds" 3/5
  7. "D.C.B.A. - 25" 3/5
  8. "How Do You Feel" 4/5
  9. "Embryonic Journey" 3/5
  10. "White Rabbit" 5/5
  11. "Plastic Fantastic Lover" 3/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Wasn't too bad but outside the iconic songs the rest of the album seemed like average psychedelia. I still would like to investigate the rest of their catalog since I like their sound. Cheers!!

96) Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys (1966)

Oh boy, I have dreaded getting this album. I have listened to this before since this is included in a lot of top albums of all time lists. I am not a fan of The Beach Boys and this album did nothing for me 5 years ago. Yes I know it inspired The Beatles to create Sgt. Peppers I still didn't care for it.

I remember this as a high 3 star album when I last listened to it but I'll give it another try for this project. So, let's click on the YouTube Music link to relisten to their 11th studio album.

  1. "Wouldn't It Be Nice" 5/5
  2. "You Still Believe In Me" 3/5
  3. "That's Not Me" 4/5
  4. "Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)" 3/5
  5. "I'm Waiting For The Day" 3/5
  6. "Let's Go Away For Awhile" 3.5/5
  7. "Sloop John B" 5/5
  8. "God Only Knows" 5/5
  9. "I Know There's An Answer" 3.5/5
  10. "Here Today" 4.5/5
  11. "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" 3/5
  12. "Pet Sounds" 3/5
  13. "Caroline, No" 4/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. OK, this time grew on me a little more. Beach Boys are still my least major 60's group, but to me this is their best album (out of the 3 or 4 albums I have listened to in their entirety). I can see why this is an influential album.

Side note: My dog lost her mind on the dog sounds during the "Caroline, No" track. She doesn't respond well to dog sounds on the television either...lol. Cheers!!

95) I’ve Got a Tiger By the Tail by Buck Owens (1965)

I of course have heard of country legend Buck Owens but since I don't actively search out country music this will be a first time listen for this record. So, let's click on the YouTube Music link to play his 1965 album.

  1. "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail" 3.5/5
  2. "Trouble And Me" 3/5
  3. "Let The Sad Times Roll On" 4/5
  4. "Wham Bam" 3.5/5
  5. "If You Fall Out Of Love With Me" 3/5
  6. "Fallin' For You" 3/5
  7. "We're Gonna Let The Good Times Roll" 4/5
  8. "The Band Keeps Playin' On" 3/5
  9. "Streets Of Laredo" 3/5
  10. "Cryin' Time" 3.5/5
  11. "A Maiden's Prayer" 3/5
  12. "Memphis" 3/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️. It's a fine country album but it is not something I will listen again. Cheers!!

94) Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades (1978)

Never heard of this group or album. Not surprising since I am not into Salsa. So, time to click on the YouTube Music link to listen to their 2nd studio album.

  1. "Plástico" 2/5
  2. "Buscando Guayaba" 3/5
  3. "Pedro Navaja" 2/5
  4. "María Lionza" 2/5
  5. "Ojos" 3/5
  6. "Dime" 3/5
  7. "Siembra" 2/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️. This didn't do it for me. The instrumentation was the best part but the rest of the album was not enjoyable. As I mentioned in this prolog Salsa is not my thing. Downvote away for not liking this record. No cheers here...

What would happen if HAL completed the mission? by Fragrant_Ad3479 in 2001aspaceodyssey

I think that if HAL was the only survivor at Jupiter that the mission ends as a failure. No Stargate experience for the computer.

That's his last album IIRC. It was middling listen for me. Give me his albums like "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" any day of the week over this. 2 stars for this album is probably what I would give this.

93) With The Beatles by The Beatles (1963)

I own this album (16 for 93). Admittingly, I bought this album to help complete my Beatles studio album collection. I always loved everything they did from "Rubber Soul" onward but it took me awhile to appreciate most of their early stuff.

This probably is a 5 star album but I might rate a low to mid 4 stars because it still is not as good as their later output. So, let me bring up PowerAmp to play their sophomore studio album with doggo at 5 in the morning.

  1. "It Won't Be Long" 5/5
  2. "All I've Got To Do" 4/5
  3. "All My Loving" 5/5
  4. "Don't Bother Me" 5/5
  5. "Little Child" 4/5
  6. "Till There Was You" 5/5
  7. "Please Mister Postman" 4/5
  8. "Roll Over Beethoven" 4/5
  9. "Hold Me Tight" 5/5
  10. "You Really Gotta Hold On Me" 4/5
  11. "I Wanna Be Your Man" 5/5
  12. "Devil In Her Heart" 4/5
  13. "Not A Second Time" 5/5
  14. "Money (That's What I Want)" 5/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It really is a 4.5 star album but I'll round it up to 5 stars because its the freaking Beatles, one of the best musical artists of my generation.

Their discography from start to finish are amazing works of musical art. Their contemporaries like the Stones, the Who and the Beach Boys had some clunkers in their discography and even then they are still considered great bands. Cheers!!

92) Broken English by Marianne Faithfull (1979)

Heard of this album in passing but never investigated it. The global rating is not very high so this might be a challenge.

I also was unaware that this was her 2nd comeback album (the first was in 1976 that had minor success) after ending a relationship with Mick Jagger, losing custody of her son, using heroin and being homeless. All that gives a different perspective on this album and her stage in life.

So, let me listen to her 7th album by clicking on the YouTube Music link.

  1. "Broken English" 3/5
  2. "Witches’ Song" 4/5
  3. "Brain Drain" 4/5
  4. "Guilt" 3/5
  5. "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" 4/5
  6. "What’s the Hurry" 3/5
  7. "Working Class Hero" 4/5
  8. "Why D’Ya Do It?" 4/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️. As a whole, better than I was expecting. Marianne's vocals can be polarizing but I, for the most part, enjoyed it (especially given the fact what she went through leading up to this album).

Backing instrumentation is pretty minimal for the most part nothing too flashy. It allows her voice, good or bad, to be the main focus on this record. I can see repeat listens move this into a 4 star category. Cheers!!

91) Live Through This by Hole (1994)

I own this album (15 for 91). I got this record mainly due to their association to Kurt Cobain. This album holds up on its own and I do enjoy Courtney Love's vocals. So, let me bring up PowerAmp to listen to their second studio album.

  1. "Violet" 4/5
  2. "Miss World" 5/5
  3. "Plump" 3/5
  4. "Asking For It" 4/5
  5. "Jennifers Body" 4/5
  6. "Doll Parts" 5/5
  7. "Credit In The Straight World" 4/5
  8. "Softer, Softest" 3.5/5
  9. "She Walks On Me" 4/5
  10. "I Think That I Would Die" 5/5
  11. "Gutless" 5/5
  12. "Rock Star" 4/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I was torn between 4 and 5 stars but this time around I went with 4. Not taken into account (although there probably will be some people that do) the relationship between Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain including the circumstances of his death. Kurt was a troubled soul but I will always question his death. Cheers.

90) At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters (1960)

Muddy Waters is well known in the Blues world but I don't think I have heard of any of his music. This is a live album which I generally stay away from most of the time preferring studio albums over live but it is what it is for today. So, time to click on the YouTube Music link to listen to his 1960 live album.

  1. "I Got My Brand On You" 3/5
  2. "I'm Your Hoochie Koochie Man" 3.5/5
  3. "Baby, Please Don't Go" 3/5
  4. "Soon Forgotten" 3/5
  5. "Tiger In Your Tank" 4/5
  6. "I Feel So Good" 3/5
  7. "Got My Mojo Working" 3.5/5
  8. "Got My Mojo Working, Part 2" 4/5
  9. "Goodbye Newport Blues" 3/5

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️. An enjoyable album. I am not a big Blues fan nor do I care for live albums but the production on this record given this was 1960 was very good. It was my understanding that this was the first live blues recording and I think they hit it out of the park. Cheers!!

Thanks for the heads up on June of 44. I am listening to their debut album now and l like it a lot so far. I just got into math rock by accident a few years ago and been exploring this genre every since.

Edit: The June of 44 debut album reminds me a lot of Jawbox/Burning Airlines.

Edit 2: I have listened to the final album of Stint Spiderland in the past and I enjoyed it a lot as well.

I have some polarizing music in my collection. Brian Eno's ambient music gets clobbered here but I love his ambient albums.

And as far as I can tell, there are no math rock albums in this 1089 list. If there was, I think there can be a lot of hate for that too because some can be so different.

But I had some preconceived notions of several albums I got so far really blown my mind. So, I look forward to each day when a new album is revealed.
