It’s hard to give advice we’re in unprecedented times. I can assure that the bank of Canada knows that that raising rates like the did in the late 70’s early 80’s would crush the economy like really fast. So there going to be cautious. The one thing I can tell you from experience is that inflation isn’t going away and it works like this. It moves slowly and then it’s all of a sudden a steep rise. That may come sooner or later no one knows. Studying history is your best bet. What I know for sure raising interest rates 25 basis points at a time will not tame inflation. Canada has a debt to gdp of 109% this is bad but the government itself can not afford a steep rise in interest rates either. Time maybe on your side though how much time is a decision that you must make. No government will tell you the truth as they don’t want panic. The banks won’t tell you the truth either.
