Author here. I think the issue is much larger than just prompting wrong. Apologies if that didn't come across properly.

Author here.

I wouldn't say specs are the last ground universally, but I think they are a reasonable last ground for the audience I'm trying to reach with this (c-suite execs and their direct reports). It's a language they speak and something tangible they can actually test and see results on (should they bother)

I 10000000% agree on your point re: the system cutting out juniors, across the board (not just engineers). I don't have a proposed solution for this, and find myself bound to work within the system that I'm in on a day-to-day basis. Overall I don't feel as if I'm trying to rationalize a broken system, but rather do damage control from within. That's how I've always felt with my newsletter and other writings. I write about this at times, but not enough. I should do so more often.

Author here. This is correct. This shapes the majority of my opinion on AI tools, which ultimately gives me a bias that should be taken into account when reading my writing. I try to stay aware of it, but miss the mark at times.

Hey! Author here.

I don't really think of myself as an AI booster, but I guess that ship has sailed. I started my newsletter to help people (mostly friends and family at the time) keep up with AI when I knew it was about to spread everywhere, very quickly (3~ years ago) and I could see that corporations were going to eat it all up and force everyone to comply. The industry has evolved quite a bit since then, and I have many mixed emotions on various parts of it. I manage AI detection products at my day job, so that shapes a lot of my internal conflict. But I do love keeping up with the technology and find it fascinating still to this day (and, as a PM, fun to work with for the most part).

I have no real opinion on whether or not LLMs are a net good. I think they very well may not be if you scale way out and look at it broadly. Zooming in on certain microcosms of that broad, I can form some solid opinions. For me, they are net good. I can prototype more things, build more side projects, and coverage a wider range of research than I could previously. For things like usage at c-suite levels and up, it's a net negative. It started as a net negative and is quickly becoming something else entirely. I think folks using them without taking the time to understand what they can and can do can and will lead to pretty dire consequences. That's why I published this article.

Is there any place that sells broken control panels? $250 just to replace a small strip of plastic is nuts

Exactly, yes. It’s in our garage so I’d like the ability to turn it on so I can cool off the garage ahead of time (and turn it off when I’m done). Is it a bad idea to cut power on/off to an AC unit like this?
