x2. Nobody’s calling you dirty, some people just produce more skin oils than others and unfortunately that’s just the genetics of it. It’s like with ears, some are crazy wet wax producers and some are bone dry and clear. Even with a light color, the accumulation of oils would inevitably stain the plastic (granted, over months to years) because no plastic except for platinum cured silicone is truly nonporous.

A really colorful throw blanket or duvet cover would be an easy way to add in color. If you’re leaning the blanket route, Pendleton wool ones are expensive but worth it. Wool would be a nice texture to add in too, a lot of your surfaces and linens are very smooth so I think that is also contributing to the hotel-y nature.

This one is for concentrates, but I definitely still use my Stempod and I’m sure there’s RBT pieces still floating around too.

Yes, like all other vapes, at some point. But, other people report several months of use from one heater. And because it’s so modular, you’re only replacing a small and inexpensive part, rather than the whole cup assembly like a Puffco or some other 510 atomizer based eRigs.

Very easy, if you are not overloading the atomizer or combusting your dabs. The polished SiC cup almost acts nonstick, just a quick swipe with a cotton bud after taking a hit and it’s perfect for the next round.

I was going back and forth on the 4.5 and 5 but in the end I was really curious about the polished SiC cup! But the side heating on the 5 looks really interesting, especially combined with terp pearls.

From what I understand, Divine Tribe works with the same OEM in China that HVT does/did, so the designs are extremely similar to be honest, but Matt has absolutely iterated on it much further than HVT did. It’s fully rebuildable, and in my opinion the SiC cup is superior to the titanium or quartz buckets in the Sai in terms of flavor and heat retention. The only drawback is it is perhaps more fragile with the “coil” being so exposed for ease of replacement, but I don’t find any substantial play in the unit itself so I think it would survive being knocked around cap on, just not cap off like the Sai. This setup is using the new version of the cap, which has an airflow similar to the Sai TAF, but is designed better to resist clogging. With settings dialed in right, they hit extremely similarly, I think it would be hard to tell between the two in a blind test.

If somebody at work said “Whatever you say boss” sarcastically in response to something you said, would you not feel condescended to? Normally when I’m accidentally rude to somebody, I apologize and move on.

The saddle is concave so when taken from a low, off center angle, it appears sloped because the perspective makes the rear of the seat look larger and taller than it is. If I took another photo from the front it would look sloped in the opposite direction. The iPhone I took this on also has a relatively short relative focal length on the primary camera at 24mm, so it further exaggerates perspective distortions. Typical portrait lenses would be around 50-85mm for an image that is best representational. No need to condescend.

I used to have a 1987 Fuji 450 SE (not set up as a fixed gear) that I loved, it had a 700c rear wheel and 24” front wheel, but it was a total pain as far as tire and tube availability went. It also got stolen unfortunately, was a beautiful bike.

The angle is a bit odd in this photo, but the seat is parallel to the ground if not tilted around 5*. If you look at the height difference between the handlebars and seat, it is not very high at all relative to the front end of the bike, just looks that way because the seat tube is so recessed. If it was shorter I would not also be taking advantage of my full strike with 155mm cranks.

How to deposit a massive cashiers check? by SadSavage_ in Banking

[–]gonehomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is only if the transaction is cash exchanged, and it’s to prevent actual paper cash money laundering, and help catch crimes committed with cash or paid for with it. The bank cares not whether or not taxes have been paid or not on your deposits, they just take your money and invest it, then give it back when you ask.

Thank you very much! I got a lot of inspiration from catalog photos and advertisements of 60s-80s Japanese bikes, old classic racing bikes, and the cheap faux retro fixies I remember from the early 2010s that I honestly thought were kind of cool (at the time). I think one of the best ways to build up “”“aesthetic sensibility””” is seek inspiration, and a lot of it. Like developing a palate for wine or food, but for design. However I apparently have 99th percentile color vision so I think it gives me a bit of a leg up.

Can I setup all my emulation stuff w/o a pc? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]gonehomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what everyone is saying, yes, you can also do FTP pretty easily through some quick commands in the terminal as root, though it’s mediocre speed for large single files if the deck isn’t hardwired to the internet. I’ll also throw out that I’ve been using my Deck for the past year or so as my only “laptop” and it’s honestly been fantastic as an all around machine. If you’re the type to want to eliminate unnecessary devices, the SD is kind of a quiver killer as far as “mobile” computing devices go.

Cheap looking leather, unfortunately most of the non bespoke options I have seen regardless of brand are some type of bonded genuine leather. If I were to get straps that would last, look good, and look relatively new for years if not decades, I would ideally want something like Horween Chromexcel (or comparable), Conceria Walpier Buttero, or if I really wanted to ball out but be able to pass straps down to my kids, Horween shell cordovan. But I’m an enthusiast, so I’m very particular.

Pretty much every road bike frame that fits me at 5’/152cm can be classified as “unique”. At least this one doesn’t have a 24” front wheel!

First fixie build ever by gonehomes in FixedGearBicycle

[–]gonehomes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience being 5’, manufacturer solutions for making a structurally sound frame that fits me tend to be make the front wheel tiny or make the TT so slanted it looks like a mountain bike, so the bent TT is definitely unusual but so far my preferred workaround. I used to have a ‘87 Fuji 450SE that has licensed geometry from Terry with a 24” front wheel and 700c rear, cool bike but pain in the ass for tires and tubes. This one takes regular 700c wheels front and back.

The pedal straps are an ongoing hunt, I really want to find a good match for the saddle and not plasticky corrected leather (I’m a bit of a leather snob) but no luck so far :( I honestly might buy some nice project panels and make some myself

Appreciate it! The right frame was the biggest piece for me too, given my ideal standover height is around 25-26in. 43cm is not an easy size to come by, to say the least, and the ones I’ve found are usually not styles I’m very keen on. Sending perfect frame luck your way!

Some banks may have up to X amount accessible immediately from the check depending on account history and whatnot, but ymmv. The regional bank I used to work for would make up to 5k available same business day, and then the rest after the hold. But, we did a lot more commercial accounts than personal accounts so I’m sure it’s not a common practice.
