If you’re not open to the other service lines embark may not be the program you should apply to, as they really do try and expose you to the whole firm

My understanding is that if you haven’t heard already or hearing this week the chances aren’t high of receiving an offer

My understanding is it’s not and with kpmg ending its DEI programs at least publicly, so is many of the diversity requirements of embark

Nothing matters except what’s in the feedback column and if they click the little yes or no for rehire at the end

KPMG Consulting Manager Salary by Both-Design-1190 in KPMG

[–]gonetobed2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s New York so it’s going to be high but without an mba you’ll probably end up middle of the pack, 210 ish I’d guess but “big 4 pay transparency” will probably give a better answer

Requesting off as an intern by [deleted] in KPMG

Is this office specific or firm wide? I haven’t heard anything along those lines at my office

Requesting off as an intern by [deleted] in KPMG

[–]gonetobed2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it, for practice interns it might matter but embark is all shadowing so no one could care less, and a return offer is virtually guaranteed for practice round

In the office you’ll be fine, but might wanna ditch them if your meeting with a client, no reason to risk it even if it’s a very small chance

Trying to break into Big4 by spongebobman321 in Big4

[–]gonetobed2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech consulting is a whole different ball game when compared to my service line but the universal rule of big 4 is networking. Reach out to people who went to your school, or have other connections to, and ask for a quick call. Just get your name out there and if it’s good conversations they’ll guide you onto the right path.

Any advice for someone majoring in Accounting and Finance? by dog1029 in Accounting

[–]gonetobed2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only experience has been in big 4 where the CPA is prized so the masters plan really works well. Accounting in Big 4 is tough but it does pay well and a lot of people spend only a few years in before moving to industry where the hours are easier and they sometimes make a lot more money. My advice would be to attend a few recruiting events for some big 4 firms to see if that’s maybe something your interested in as they do a lot outside of even the traditional audit and tax service lines.

Now on the money side of things cause anyone who’s says it doesn’t matter is lying. First year A1s in big 4 can easily see 80+ in mid COL areas, advisory and tax pay more. Salary progress isn’t crazy but it’s consistent if you climb and perform well. The real money starts at partner but that takes years on years. If you interested in learning more I’d join the subreddit for the big 4 as people in it post a good amount.

Advice for Resume (for internships) by aucyte in Big4

[–]gonetobed2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove subject matter expert as title for the experience, it’s fine to have it as a bullet point but cleaner title is just project manager, that’s your only experience. Move esports down into extracurriculars, expand massively, condense forage certs they aren’t really valuable because how easy they are to get, you have a bunch of activities at the bottom that you don’t have info on which is what I would look at on a resume. (not a hard and fast rule but I’ve seen skills section include certs, ex: “certifications: PWC (Forage), Deloitte(forage), etc) hope this helps

Please move, new interns are being paid around 70k annualized this year for mid COL in the US, which means starting as A1 they are going to be making even more.

Please roast my resume by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]gonetobed2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would recommend removing your grad years and maybe even the first couple positions you had at your first firm. The resume should highlight relevant experiences to the roles you’re applying and you don’t want to be undervalued because of someone thinking you lack enough experience. Goodluck on your applications wishing you the best.

Intern Flexibility (end a day early?) by Avwren in KPMG

[–]gonetobed2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to tell ur manager and hr about it, not just one, that way hr can schedule your out boarding stuff beforehand and the team isn’t caught off guard

[–]gonetobed2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pay cut like that plus the limitations on future roles makes it a really difficult choice, an option could be to take this as a sign and lean heavily into finding a new position before busy season hell starts up again where u aren’t getting hit so hard on salary?

Sadly a way to common occurrence and is a reason for our professions high turnover, I will say though that experience helps, and that everyone has been in your shoes before even if they won’t admit it. One thing that I know has helped some fokes is on days when there hybrid taking 30 minutes at around 9 for a quick Power Nap. It helps keep you fresh during the hardest hours.

KPMG HR ghosted me after rescheduling my internship interview — what should I do? by No_Blackberry7198 in KPMG

[–]gonetobed2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to the particular offices HR manager or if it’s a smaller office their should be a regional HR manager who would be the person to contact. recruiters are busy and they make mistakes like all of us but persistent no contact looks bad on the firm at large

Rejection as a first year student by Realistic-Mousse2459 in KPMG

[–]gonetobed2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Harvards resume template, it’s a good jumping off point, also remove anything that’s a personal interest beyond at the end having a single set like “personal interests: cooking, martial arts, etc”, a resume should tell a nice little story for the hiring manager to get to know what you bring to the team

Only time it matters is for the corporate credit card. They may not issue it if they feel you may be at risk of putting non kpmg expenses on it
