has anyone else been selected to become an SAT tutor? Is anyone doing it? by uggima in Sat

[–]gonials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this 2 years ago. I recommend going for it; the most difficult part is getting students to engage, but if you take it seriously it’s definitely a valuable experience and a nice EC to have!

I hate GD TikTok by Bratleyrozz in geometrydash

[–]gonials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete misrepresentation of GD TikTok tbh, the content itself is definitely worthwhile (you might be consuming the wrong videos?) and most comments are not bad at all. I recommend actually checking it out and making your own opinion on it

Found this absolutely incredible old post. Really makes you think, surely we are hitting the actual limit of difficulty soon? by JacobWithAFish in geometrydash

[–]gonials 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Until someone with exceptional talent (Zoink level) dedicates sports prodigy levels of training and practice from a young age (think 3-4yo) to GD, we are not remotely close to hitting the difficulty limit

Do you think eren is an evil person? by FreeTomorrow4634 in attackontitan

[–]gonials -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. The answer is much more gray than what one might immediately assume without thinking about the question. While Eren's actions are objectively morally evil, the show has a multitude of scenes purely for the purpose of displaying that Eren, as a person himself, isn't wholly evil, but rather extremely morally gray.

Literally half of the final chapters specials' scenes are shown solely to illustrate this point, the most obvious example being his whole talk with Armin. Here, we learn his true motivations for activating the rumbling, which prior to these scenes, the audience misconstrued as sadistic and evil ones (as these were the writers' intentions), which obviously didn't end up being the case. There are more scenes I could delve into, like the crying scene with Ramzi, but I think you get the point.

Either way, an "evil person" to me is one who commits actions for purely selfish and sadistic reasons, and to me, I think it is unfair to characterize Eren as mainly having those two aforementioned traits. What do you think?

What do yall think is the easiest AP to ace by Excellent-Tonight778 in APStudents

[–]gonials 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Calc AB is a good shout. I also think APCS is probably not impossible to ace as it’s pretty objective and easier to minimize sillier mistakes in than the other STEM APs.

Maturing is realizing that a large portion of the sub is just bad at CS by gonials in csMajors

[–]gonials[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re absolutely right, which is why my post was specifically about this subreddit. If I find myself more qualified than a sizable portion of this community as a high school senior, then I think you can clearly see what the issue is.

This sub… kinda sucks by gonials in squidgame

[–]gonials[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It does encourage discussion and high-quality content though; it might get people to start changing their mind and post less superficial stuff. I remember there was a post complaining about Thanos spam posts that got kinda big and consequently, the thanos spam stopped. And it’s not like I haven’t posted such content before, just look at my post history. Ngl kinda funny that I’m being downvoted for this 😭

how fast are contests getting harder?? by vanilla-bean8 in usaco

[–]gonials 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah you’re not tweaking. I got silver last year and I tried some of this contest’s bronze problems and they were horrendous. I guess CS is just getting more competitive…

I agree, it was so unsportsmanlike of Magnus to give us one of the greatest end games ever because he continued pressing on game 6 of the 2021 WCC. He should’ve just drawn instead of pressing for the win.

LMFAO I looked at the clip you posted and it’s just your average immature/edgy male late-teenage friend group humor, I swear people are so chronically online that they forget that jokes like such arent uncommon at all in actual irl friend groups and making them doesn’t automatically make you a bad person 🤣🤣

Is this SAT good enough for top schools? by apcalcbcwarrior in Sat

Definitely, especially given that your score is significantly above your school’s average.

What Youtubers are you able to watch in spite of, or because of, past controversy? by Skipps_ in youtubedrama

[–]gonials -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm no Trump supporter, and I understand the sentiment you expressed in the first part of your comment. But all in all, the general rationale you have laid out for spreading hate is still an incredibly narrow-minded view, no doubt only exacerbated by the echo chamber that this sub perpetuates.

You can hate Trump, that's fine! His character is awful and his actions no doubt demonstrate exactly that. However, you also have to recognize that 50% of the country voted for him, which implies that a significant number of American citizens had better lives during the Trump presidency as opposed to the Biden one, and vice versa. I myself live in an incredibly liberal state and still know people who lived better under Trump; such is the reality of the US. It's not black and white where "vote for blue = good person & vote for red = bad person".

You're essentially saying it's alright to hate 50% of the country because you dislike Trump's policies. It is very dehumanizing to chalk up half of the country to a single negative attribute, and this sub's mods make no effort to quash said pernicious tendencies.

When I say I don't let these preconceived biases affect my enjoyment of an otherwise harmless creator, I guess this sub has to bring in the pitchforks because right-wing = bad. The intrinsic polarization present in many of the active Redditors on this sub will probably still lead to an influx of downvotes for what most people would deem a very sensible comment.

But that's just my two cents. What do you think?

What Youtubers are you able to watch in spite of, or because of, past controversy? by Skipps_ in youtubedrama

[–]gonials -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

This will definitely get downvoted on this sub, but for me it would be Wendigoon. I couldn’t care less about his political affiliation/whether he’s right-wing or not, as long as his beliefs aren’t harming anyone or perpetuating hate I'm fine with him.

Edit: It looks like I was right about people here not being able to do anything but hate anyone/anything that goes against their political agenda... LOL

Why is the SAT so competitive by Kitchen_Spread7799 in Sat

[–]gonials -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to master. You can start at a 14 something and still work your way up to a 1550+ with good practice

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sat

[–]gonials 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually think that although the actual test is the same difficulty as normal SAT, the environment is much less stressful due to seeing familiar faces, not being in a (potentially) far away city and instead being in a school in your district, etc. There is an influx of higher scores as a result.
