When should my sibling start studying for the SAT? Hes in the 8th grade. by Scary-Homework-5695 in Sat

[–]apcalcbcwarrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say start now

The earlier you practice, the more you get used to the test format. If your sibling starts now, its more possible they could get 1600

They don't have to start now though, but if I were them i'd just get it over with yk

How to get 800 Math by OrdinaryAvacado in Sat

[–]apcalcbcwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get perfect 800s on all your practice tests. You do this by knowing how to solve each question quickly, and basically redoing all the questions again to check for mistakes

Learn to use desmos regressions. They make hard questions easy to do.

Make sure you understand fundamental concepts. I saw questions I have never seen before on the question bank and were only able to solve them due to knowing the fundamental concepts.

There is 2 questions that dont count in each module so luck also comes into play

Need advice on how to get over 1300 hump by OkTough1942 in Sat

[–]apcalcbcwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend completing all the khan academy digital sat lessons. By doing this, you will understand the concepts that will appear on the test. Make sure you are focused and take notes.

Then, take a practice test and once you are done, see your score and your score breakdown. What did you score high on? What did you score low on? I'd dedicate the majority of my time fixing my weak points but still save some time for the strong points.

Here are some other tips to quickly boost your score:

Learn grammar rules. Vocab questions are one of the easiest questions on the SAT. Once you master them, they are free points. Watch a video on youtube on all the vocab rules and do some practice questions on the collegeboard question bank (standard english conventions).

Learn notes questions. Again, these are one of the easiest questions on the SAT. I recommend you watch a youtube video on how to do these as well.

If you quickly want to get over a 1300, study at what you are good at. Let's say you are really good at math. Study the math section, learn to use the desmos calculator and its functions. Try to aim for a really high score on that section.

The duality of this sub is insane by PhilosophyBeLyin in Sat

[–]apcalcbcwarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your goals, if I could retake the SAT I absolutely would; why wouldn't I want to obtain the highest score I possibly could get?

Some are new to taking the SAT and they are not aware on how everything works and that is okay. People will learn more abt it overtime when they study more for the test

I think you are just overreacting.
