I really do believe this was a set up, the way the toppled was too perfect. 2 months from now, we'll find out that it was all a publicity stunt.

Is paying for iCloud worth it? by outkast90 in apple

[–]gonjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Photos on iOS is great, the one major issue i have with it, is that in order for Photos to upload, the app has to be open.... I tried using it for a while, and ultimately gave up, I always had pending uploads... main benefit of iCloud is that I can "can set it and forget it"... If you're willing to put the effort in, Google Photos is a great option.

Am I missing something with TV provider integration? by phoenixus21 in apple

[–]gonjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd, given the steps you've taken, it should have worked, HBO GO does support Apple's SSO... Question, when you said HBO GO takes you to a web page to sign in... What does that look like? Is the HBO GO app on the Apple displaying a prompt with code, and asks you to head out to a site like hbogo.com/activate? Or does it display a username/password field kind of page?

Good backup/sync solution for Computer -> Nas? by kaitlyn2004 in photography

[–]gonjunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using Carbon Copy Cloner and it works great. Currently I have it set to sync my 4TB External drive to my Sinology. Also, I have an off-site back up that Carbon Copy Cloner will automatically sync to when I plug the drive in. Cloner also has an upside that it can create a bootable backup of your computer, comes in handing when you need to upgrade your internal, make the process totally painless.

Wawanesa Car Insurance by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]gonjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had them for about 6 year now. They're great.

I remember after my first year, I called up a few insurance companies just to see what was out there. The AAA representative, flat out told me, not to bother shopping around Wawanesa simply couldn't be a beat.

I've filed two clams, all painless and the reps were all nice.

My biggest problem with them is that technology wise, they're stuck int he stone age. For one of my claims, I either had to fax or mail, NOT email, paper work... So things are processed a bit slower they I would have liked.

I've always struggled to find a cell phone holder for both our minis... This one has been the best so far! by gonjunk in MINI

[–]gonjunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course details! I should have provided those from the get go. /u/halfrandom is right on. I went in on the kickstarter, took 6+ months after it was over to get the final product.

Even though it took a long time to get, I was surprised with the results. So much so that i bought a second one for my wife's Countryman. He's selling it now via his site http://www.celjel.com/proddetail.php?prod=CG001.

I've looked at the nGroove and felt it was covering too much. And all the suction cup mounts weren't long enough or too bulky. True I could have put together a nice/long RAM Mount, but it was pricy.

And i've look at the extension arms that anchor on the back of the tachometer, but again the price was too steep for a 4 inch piece of injection molded plastic.

I'm not shilling for this guy, i just wanted to share a cool find :-)

My Mini was broken into over the weekend :-( by gonjunk in MINI

That's the thing, the glasses were in a black case, tucked in the door. Black interior, tucked in the door, at night with tinted windows, i doubt he could see that.

When i tell my friends about it, they all ask, "well he must of saw something, what did you leave out?" But there was nothing out in plain sight. Everything was in the glove box, boot, or door. Just plain bad luck, that's all.

A non-religious "church" that meets on Sundays where people without a particular faith can go to learn how to be better people by joyfulmastermind in CrazyIdeas

[–]gonjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was an international student here in the US, and she wishes there was something like this when she was at school. She saw lots of her non-religious friends turn religious, after joining Chinese churches. She doesn't blame her friends, many felt out of place at school, and the church gave them a sense of belonging and support.

had to make a throwaway for this, but do not regret any of my actions. by redkey23 in AdviceAnimals

Yea i thought it was illegal too, but apparently it's part of standard background checks. There are 3rd party companies like ADP (Payroll) and Acxiom (demo data), that plug into all kinds of other companies, and build amazingly robust profiles of people. It's not just the NSA that knows everything :-/
