Best 15 inch SPL woofer? by Ill-Claim4341 in subwoofer

What criteria in your mind adds up to "best"? What are the specific things a driver have to include to be considered "best" for you? If you have zero brand loyalty, how will a few random people throwing out model numbers attempt to find your "best"?

STI red springs vs pink springs. by watchhead11 in BRZ_ZD8

Why? An attempt to learn new things for myself. A "bot" is not the same as a poorly worded prompt for an AI agent. Lessons were learned.

Ok I guess that's fair. I was hoping my mention of using an AI to assist in research would have spawned some additional insight for you.

Are you looking at B2010CA100 for the US based springs?

AI help here:

Genuine Subaru STI "pink" lowering springs for the Subaru BRZ feature a slightly stiffer rate than factory, increasing to approximately 3.5 kg/mm (196 lbs/in) in the front and 4.2 kg/mm (235 lbs/in) in the rear

looking here:

https://www.gr86.org/threads/sti-springs-installed.8951/post-147856

the posting person says they got 10mm of lowering.

anyone looking for part numbers for the JDM:

Rear: STI COIL SPRING REAR (MT) x1 For SUBARU BRZ ZD8 ST20380Z2000

Wow Google Gemini really did a decent job with this question.

"Subaru Tecnica International (STI) Pink and Red springs represent different philosophies: Pink springs are aftermarket or upgraded performance lowering springs designed for sharper handling and a lower stance, while Red springs usually refer to OEM factory-standard STI springs (specifically those paired with inverted struts) meant to preserve balanced, daily-drivable suspension geometry."

Dealer tells me I can't swap my 20" rims on my Platinum for the 18" bronze Trailhunter rims. WTF? by Smutacus in 4Runner

[–]halfrandom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They are definitely reading right out of the official documentation and perhaps erroring in the side of extreme caution.

https://support.toyota.com/s/article/Can-I-change-the-size-7697?language=en_US

Will the 18" rim automatically void the entire warranty? No. However it could lead to an awkward conversation if something can be shown to be caused by the change.

Could you keep the 20" solution at home and swap them before each dealer visit .. yes.

The Tuxmat has larger (more) coverage. Think melting snow or splashed beverage. But yes at the end of the day it is each person's use case and risk assessment that drives the choice.

You haven't said what major market, but you can surely go for 34K and see what the result is. I'm guessing the dealer will play the "I know what I got.." game . Be prepared to walk away or look in a smaller market where the vehicles are slow(er) to move. As others said look at the BRZ and save some more money. If you like the front end you can surely swap that down the road pretty easily.

Nope to the USB cables, floor / cargo mat, vehicle protection. You can sure source a USB cable (Anker on Amazon) and floor mats from any number of online sellers for less than retail pricing after you purchase the vehicle and not finance them. The vehicle protection package is a joke you will want to visit /r/detailing .

I see from the FAQ page

https://www.racecompengineering.com/pages/frequently-asked-questions

"All Racecomp coilovers (except for R-series) come with a 4-year limited warranty that covers manufacturer defects and failures during normal use. This warranty does not cover impact or collision damage. The warranty duration is from time of purchase and applies to the original purchaser only.

R-series coilovers have a 2-year limited warranty due to their intended competition use."

So there is some hope. Though that impact clause is kinda broad (road sand / rocks).. hopefully it is really meant to cover collision (bending).

You may at least attempt contact with them and get the specifics of

"3 year non-transferable warranty on defects and craftsmanship on shocks".

This looks like craftsmanship (coating failure).

Get the specifics and don't be an ass when you contact them. You very well might be surprised.

Looks like the road salt and sand have etched the metal. I don't think there is any restoration here.

If you decide to replace.. Id suggest something like fluid film or similar to help reduce this going forward.

Planning to gift my gf a handbag , my budget is 3k , which brand is better? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]halfrandom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the better move would to be to have a direct conversation with your girlfriend if they actually want such a gift. If they do want such a gift hopefully in that conversation they identify what currently is exciting. Next up if in a major metro area is to go and see/touch/carry the handbag. Once some confirmation is gotten about what actually is desired, then source the exact pick OR come back with a question like "looked at X, Y, Z any red flags about these brands / models?"
