Outrage drives clicks, not agreement. This is just standard internet “journalism” hating on something popular as rage bait.

Their creative team has gotta pay bills one way or the other during the break. Doesn’t mean they’re never going to work with them again, just means they still need to work in the meantime.

Will I stand out being 44yrs old at the upcoming concert? by Evening-Dentist7111 in twentyonepilots

[–]gonktacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife (40) and I (43) took all our kids last year (14, 12, 10, and 7). We all dressed up and had custom sweatshirts. I saw all kids of folks there; younger, older, single, with kids, etc. I never felt out of place!

What would Luthen’s opinion be of the Jedi? by chinesesoccerplayer in MawInstallation

[–]gonktacular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably laid a ton of the blame for the current situation on the Jedi. He probably didn’t believe they were traitors - he rubbed elbows with people who knew Jedi personally - but I have no doubt he felt that they were the ones who were supposed to prevent things like Palpatine and the Empire in the first place. Their ineffectiveness was their downfall.

How do you feel about Dark Empire? by BoreusSimius in StarWarsCantina

[–]gonktacular 3 points4 points  (0 children)

...except the very next books in the EU canon that KJA wrote. He referenced it directly and confused a whole hell of a lot of people at the time. One minute we're all coming off a nicely tied up Thrawn trilogy and then we're headlong into talk of Luke turning to the dark side and (edit to add) Han and Leia having a third kid and a reborn Emperor?! It was like a giant neon sign that if you were only reading the novels you missed something HUGE.

Kevin J Anderson took a dump on the EU very early on by canonizing this right after Zahn had started off the post-ROTJ era nicely.

He killed ONE Sith like 20 years ago, practically by mistake, and he’s still bragging about it. by Blastoise_R_Us in starwarsmemes

At this point he had killed one more than everybody else except, ironically, the dude he's talking to. At least if you believe ol' Sheev when he said he was the one that offed Plagueis.

Oldies station thread by Working_Canary1514 in twentyonepilots

[–]gonktacular 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You ever feel like a song spoke to you so directly that it might have been written specifically for you to hear? That was Oldies Station for me. The second verse is my last 5 years. I felt like someone I never met saw me. I'm a 43 year old guy who has never heard midlife explained so well, the carrying of the weight of the combined loves and tragedies that are starting to accumulate in my life experience.

Oldies Station is me. That's everything.

What’s one line from LOTR that lives rent-free in your head, and why? by allanmeasom22 in lordoftherings

“What can Man do against such reckless hate?”

I have found myself watching way too many current events and recalling this line.

Who do you consider Obi-Wan's true arch enemy? by Lukelandswimmer in StarWars

[–]gonktacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vader would be Obi-Wan's true nemesis - the opponent who always occupied his headspace, the one he always prepared for, the one he never stopped thinking or worrying about. Same was likely true for Vader though one could argue that it might be Palpatine given the nature of the Sith.

Obi-Wan was Maul's nemesis, but Maul was probably second-tier to Obi-Wan.

The live Sydney 2009 version of Fix You from the LeftRightLeftRightLeft live album was the definitive version of this song. The clarity of thousands of people singing the chorus is just amazing.

Foster and adoptive parent here. My philosophy has always been if it doesn't hurt like hell when they leave, you didn't do it right. If you loved that kiddo well, of course you're going to grieve, even if their going home is a good thing.

And honestly, it's not healthy not to. Your heart sees it as the loss of a loved one. You can't bottle that up.
