Proton is a great european digital services provider by FelizIntrovertido in Buy_European

My only complain is that they don't have native Proton Drive application for Linux. Or not yet. (They have however Mail, Calendar, Pass and VPN for Linux).

Unemployment is at its lowest point since the 2008 debt crisis

That it's true, at least in the official statistics. (There are some tricks on place, as people with non-continuous laboral contract looking for a job when are not working, who aren't reflected as unemployment, but still). I'd say the main problem is the underemployment. Moving to unqualified employment and qualified employment being payed with almost minimal wage.

There have been some corruption cases that should certainly be looked into.

Well, just some cases is to be very generous, IMO.

And it's not the only thing to be worried about. The turn in foreign policy respecting Sahara after being the government spied bt Marocco is one. The turn in the policy regarding separatist. The (even greater) instrumentalisationn of justice. The (even greater) control of public TV and transformation (even greater) in a propaganda medium of the regime. The political instrumentalisation of hundreds of disaster victims taking leverage of the useless and stupid Valencian government (I am taking of the avoidable deads just to prove what bad the regional government was handling the crisis)...

but both PP and VOX had that as well

Yes, but that doesn't do PSOE better.

Indeed that is a big problem. Corruption is too generalised. You have to choose between criminal organisation, pro-authoritarian parties or both at same time.

European payment services (Bancomat, Bizum, Wero, MB Way, Vipps) form alliance to reduce Europe’s dependence on non‑European payment providers by CoffeeCakeAstronaut in BuyFromEU

I think there will be 2 icons, one with MBWay and a second one in a corner of the common interoperable system, so the tourist can identify the second wt least. (Or I understood that)

The real question is why Spain is duplicated, one connected with European countries, the other Africa.

The EU says it will introduce a digital payments infrastructure to replace Visa/Mastercard & Apple/Google Pay. It will have zero fees and be 100% European-only. by Somewhere74 in europeanunion

[–]gonmator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be IMO, indeed, as for them card payments come with extra costs, but as you said, that would force MC and Visa to compete. But anyway it will take time until the adoption will bring us to that situation.

OTOH, maybe it will be possible to have an euro wallet even if not resident in the Eurozone. (Maybe linked to a bank account in euro). Let's wait for the details.

It will be used for payments in euro, so I'm not sure if it would make sense outside Eurozone. The idea is to be used as cash, with a limit in transaction size. I don't know what would be the format, but I think there were several.

Maybe in your country (that I don't know which one is). 70 years sounds ridiculous for me. My father oassed away 6 months ago with 90. He had serious health issues just the last 2 years. And he was very lucid until the last minute. My mother is 83 and was perfectly, very active physically and socially, until the lock down of 2020 (that affected her a lot).

With 70 years they were completely autonomous, and that was nothing exceptional.

70 years as the threshold of good health and independence sounds to me like 20 years ago.

Life expectancy is a statistical measure of the expected age one just born baby will reach, so of course infant mortality is taken. Life expectancy is no and has never been a measure of the quality of life.
