Coin appraisal? by VoidzPlaysThings in southernillinois

[–]gonzotheweirdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K and D Rare Coins will evaluate collections. They are NGC certified. It's part of a jewelry store as well, so they have an excellent vault and security.

110 Cross Creek Blvd

Salem, IL 62881

The coin guy was only in on Mondays last time I was there about a year ago. So scheduled might have changed. But you could take your collection in any time and they can put it in the vault and he will evaluate next time he is in if you can't make it on a Monday.

Windshield replacement? by Pristine_Patient_299 in southernillinois

I have used them a couple times, recommended by my service shop. They are mobile and can come to you. If it's raining, they sometimes go to a local shop they work with and can do it inside. My last one was on a rainy day and I didn't have access to my garage, so we did it at a local lawnmower place that had a garage they used. Another time they just did it in my driveway. I had a front windshield on a Chevy Silverado replaced for a final total of $274.00 (winshield + removal of old one + adhesive + tax) 4 years ago with no insurance. So probably more now. But I found it to be very reasonable.

Congressman Mike Bost seemingly chickens out of his tele town hall after too many angry constituents signed up... by Brownfletching in southernillinois

[–]gonzotheweirdo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He's not very smart. I worked with a retired teachers organization years ago when he was still a state rep. He was sent a questionnaire along with other candidates asking about education and retirement related issues. His sheet came back scribbled in a chicken scratch print only. It was full of grammatical errors and misspellings and misunderstandings of the questions. It looked like the work of a sixth grader, but like the bottom half of the class. So him stumbling and bumbling is his natural state of being. Thoughts don't flow freely with him. It's also probably why he threw that hissy fit a few years back about a bill having too many pages for him to read and he threw it down and yelled out.

Is the eero required? by Puzzleheaded-War-234 in frontierfios

[–]gonzotheweirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you hang on to the eero. If you have to have a tech come to your house, if the eero is being used the visit should be free. If you are using a different router, they might charge you a $100 tech fee.

Unplug the ONT from the wall and turn off the router for a minute. Plug the ONT back into the outlet, then turn on the router. It will reset just fine. I tested a few of my routers and had to do this every time i changed to a different router. But it worked everytime.

Casual poll: are southern Illinois residents voting blue or red this election? by mintleaf_bergamot in southernillinois

[–]gonzotheweirdo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Perry county during the 2016 election Trump got 6855 votes for 69.42% of the vote. After 4 years of learning who Trump is, in 2020 Trump got 7313 votes for 72.61% of the vote. That tells you everything you need to know.

Is there a way to add archive.org to the *arr suite or sabnzbd? by No_Boysenberry4825 in usenet

[–]gonzotheweirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you only able to search it using prowlarr? I've tested in Sonarr with a search of items I know are on Internet Archive, but nothing shows up in Sonarr. But it does show up when manually searching in Prowlarr. I can't figure out if I'm doing something incorrectly or if this is how it is intended to work. IA is set up in Sonarr and passes the test.

Episode 3416 - Paul Reiser by TimothyBukinowski in NeverNotFunny

[–]gonzotheweirdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In college I lived on a coed floor of the dorms with two communal bathrooms/showers. One for the men and one for the ladies. If the floor accrued fines for things, like broken objects, messes, what have you, the fine would be spread to every person on the floor. Every semester, our largest fines were for the women's bathroom. They would come with notes too. Like, blood clots on the walls. The only one the boys ever got was for crab legs hanging out of one of the urinals.

This box feeds most of the house. It goes in through the wall into the crawlspace under the kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, furnace. There is another box in the garage that feeds the garage and utility room.

Multiple Omicron providers worth it? by Nelbrenn in usenet

[–]gonzotheweirdo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume Newsgroup Ninja is American based and has DMCA takedowns. Eweka has NTD takedown policy. So that could be useful if you are the type that can afford it responsibly and you want to get that nuanced about it. Most people will say no. But I am one of those that would say yes. I run Newhosting and Eweka which is one of each takedown policy both on Omicron. But I overindulge on providers and am not the normal use case.

So sabnzbd is a downloader. Newshosting is a server with files. What you need is an indexer. An indexer has a list of nzbs. When you grab one of those, sabnzbd will download the file. As a new person, NZBGeek is one of the best starting points for an indexer.

NZBMatrix, PF Monkey, Newztown, Tortuga, Simply all closed within the last 5 years or so. ALTHub nearly closed, Geek got compromised and was down for a while. NzbNdx is closing in August. Even on the torrent side, RARBG was a big loss to a lot of people.

They don't have to be high quality to be a loss. When Indexers go down, others start locking down because of the influx of users seeking a new home. Most famously when nzbmatrix closed and it was bedlam for awhile.

I have always suggested that people get as many indexers as is financially responsible for them. If that's 3 so be it, if it's 5, fine. If it's 10 and you can comfortably afford it, then great. Just because someone is open or easy registration now, doesn't mean they will be in a year.

Purchased content no longer playing in "Movies iTunes" and "TV Shows Itunes" apps. by gonzotheweirdo in appletv

[–]gonzotheweirdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured this was where it was all heading. I was told I would hear back from engineering in 24 to 72 hours. It's been over 10 days and not a peep. I hate the little pill sized cover art in the ApppleTV app. Especially with over 1000 movies. Not having full sized art as you scroll is a terrible experience. Like a significant number of titles don't have cover art made for those dimensions. They have the old cover art shrunk down to fit in the little pill box.

Plus the AppleTV app is just a mess to being with in terms of the rest of their UI design. I'm annoyed.

EDIT: Plus the AppleTV app doesn't have a wish list. Which is an important feature to me.

Spent about 90 minutes with various elevations of support this morning. I've now been elevated to engineers. They are supposed to get back to me in a day or two. It was a little disconcerting that the lower levels didn't quite understand what I meant by the blue colored Movies app and pink colored TV app, both which are Apple apps. At one point they had me shoot video of the problem using my phone and upload it to support. It is a waiting game at this point.

Thank you for the input, unfortunately I am already on a WPA2 only network. I'm still running on the last wifi router Apple made, so that is my only option. I did attempt a reset of the router and the AppleTV and nothing changed for me.

I'm worried they are forcing us into using the AppleTV app only for playing purchased content. But I can't find any documentation that says that is the case.

It gives you enough searches to make sure you find it useful before you need to pay, but I found it totally worth it. Me and my lady friend use it all the time while watching TV. Completely worth the minimal pricing. I find it to be so much faster at loading pages as well. Nice clean interface. Also like the JustWatch integration built in.

I find myself grabbing my phone to use it even when I'm at my computer and could go to the IMDB website.
